Welcome to Boston! I live right in the city and I can tell you it's a very charming city. Harvard is so beautiful and it's like a world of its own. Btw the mall is called Cambridge side galleria! Hope you enjoyed my beautiful city!
I think I appreciate the relatively-young historical houses here in the US because they are from when we were nation-building. It isn't so much the age of them, it is the time from which they originate. Which you cannot get elsewhere, obviously. ;)

roxylove Harvard hasn't been in films because it's actually against Harvard policy for film crews to be on campus. Thus...all movies and tv shows proclaiming to have been filmed at Harvard were actually filmed elsewhere.
Yes, this policy was put into place after the campus had some bad experiences with movies filmed in the 70s and 80s. One of the only films every filmed on the actual Harvard campus is Love Story, which they actually screen at the beginning of every academic year for all the students

The thought about time being very different to europeans and americans is super true! I'm american and 300 year old buildings are very old and historic to me so you can imagine how crazy an experience visiting europe is for us. My brain couldn't even remotely grasp how long some of the buildings in Europe have been standing. As they say- 100 years is a long time to americans and 100 miles is a long distance to the english :)
Welcome to my home city! I grew up in Quincy, 20 minutes south of Boston. Be sure to check out Faneuil Hall, North End for the BEST Italian food, Public Gardens, the waterfront, Beacon Hill and take a duck boat tour. The Boston public Library is pretty cool too (in Copley Square). Love this historical city. Enjoy your trip. xo
Another local here. Yes to all these Boston place. For Salem I recommend the historic waterfront area (including the Custom House which Hawthorne writes about in the intro to Scarlet Letter) and the Peabody Essex Museum--gorgeous art and interesting exhibits. For photos in Boston, try Copley Square. Come again!

I truly enjoyed your perspective of Boston. (Charlie's shout out for the squirrel-it is the little things after all). I giggled in agreement when you pointed out the youth of our country in comparison to yours. As a student of architecture I totally get and appreciate what you meant. I haven't been to your land, but I assure when I do I will be in tears and in awe of the majesty of your buildings, cobblestone pavers, gas lamps and numerous century rich history at every corner. In this nation's youth there were only pockets of settlements, the majority of our land was unblemished wide open country where native American's resided. Their dwellings weren't permanent, but transportable, so our true history can only be told in stories. ; ( . I envy your fearless limitless travel packing and how you brought nearly your entire closet-and wisely added to it! Each OOTD/or portion of the day ; ) was perfect. Which leads me to mention I simply adore your suitcase. ; )
Ahhhh gutted you didn't enjoy Salem! Agreed it's not like the most exciting place ever, but we found some lovely streets to take some pretty photos and just had a really chilled day there so I remember enjoying my day there! But all looked so lovely - brought back amazing memories seeing you in so many spots we visited! Loved this babe xx

I am a Brit living in the USA and I have to say even though our history is far older than theirs I am still enthralled by US history as regardless of how many years, a country's history is what shapes it and makes it the individual country it is today. I am loving all your fall fashion though so keep up the great vlogs! That is one thing I will say about not loving living in the USA so much as a Brit is it is hard to find as good quality pieces (especially wool for winter) as I could in the UK.
Maybe you should come shopping with me....it seems to be all I can find when looking for winter attire. I'm actually allergic to wool and for some reason every time I find a nice looking sweater or scarf or coat it is made from wool or a wool blend. I just want a smart looking sweater that is made from anything but wool. I find most non-wool sweaters look cheap or are somewhat sheer. Try Club Monaco, Anthropology, Banana Republic, Abercrombie and Fitch, H&M, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, and designer shops.
I make a lot of my clothes because of that. I you ever need a wool jumper or anything, track me down.

3 yrs later.... I loved Boston! You were yards away from the Cheers bar.. (Boston Common area) l went in and sat at bar n next to me was a young couple who lived couple miles away from me... UNBELIEVABLE!! 🤣🤣

Glad you enjoyed Boston! If you ever go back, Mike's Pastry North End is really good. :) All of the outfits were sooo stunning, but I think the floral dress was my favorite. Bet you had a heavy 'suitcase'! :) And you are so correct, I just returned from Ireland, and standing in 900 year old ruins really reminded me how young our country is.

My husband and I drove to Boston a few years back and spent an evening in Salem and kinda felt the same way...it wasn't what I expected. It was very touristy...next time we will just spend our time in Boston. I am so glad you loved the city though- it's one of my favorite cities and way cleaner than other large cities here.
I am glad you enjoyed Boston, it truly is beautiful and full of history. I had the opportunity to visit when my daughter in law attended law school there.
Boston is a phenomenal city ! My husband is born and raised Southie Bostonian. We got to go behind the scenes at some of the historic sites. It was only 10 degrees out but it was worth it!

Lol, your comments about historic buildings are so accurate. I was just at a conference dinner here in London and (foolishly on my part) described my apartment building back in Arizona as "old" since it was build in the 80s or 90s. But so much of Phoenix is so young and all the more historic stuff has been torn down. Historic cities and towns like Boston and Salem have managed to hold on to their original buildings but the further west you go, the more "new" everything seems because no one values the history. That's something I appreciate when I visit England, you have actually taken care of and preserved your old buildings, not bull dozed all of them. Anyway, I'm rambling (as I do), loved this vlog, all the outfits were fab. :) xx

I lived in Boston for 2 years and it's the most beautiful city! The public garden and Beacon Hill are my favorite. Too bad you didn't explore Chestnut Hill and the South End, such beautiful neighborhoods! The best pizza place in the North End is Regina!!!!!!! There's always a line! I had sent you the longest list of recommendations for Boston in an Instagram message.. Tatte was in there of course, it's so so good! And yeah, Salem is not worth the trip... extremely touristy and not much to do really!

I'm always interested to see what people want to see and do when visiting Boston! I participate in the Notch Brewery weekend 5Ks in Salem ... but not in October. It can be a fun area, but like all well known cities has touristy bits as well. If you want insta-worthy, around the old state house and night is beautiful, as is the top of the Prudential Center (skyline views) and the Seaport district. Head of the Charles is always a fun event if you want to stroll the paths around the water/Harvard, which is also very pretty near sunset. I saw you frequented Tatte a few times, they are a fav of mine, you'd also like George Howell, which was not far from where you were staying. My favorite burger is actually in the Brookline area at Publik House. Safe travels to Vermont! Also.... "Suitcase" :)

This is probably the best time in a year to visit Boston and Vermont! With sun shining and trees changing colours it's simply beautiful :-) I guess you might be back to UK by now but just in case... there is a Giacomo's (perfect marriage of Italian cuisine + New England's best lobster, clams and other seafood), Union Oyster house for oyster lovers and Mike's Pastry or Modern Pastry for excellent cannoli all in Little Italy. Enjoy Boston and Vermont Josie!

Loved this, Josie! I will say it's quite funny for me as an American having just moved to London because I'm constantly amazed at how old buildings are here. I've been in buildings that were built before the Europeans ever found my country haha! I think one thing that is impressive in America is that there are actually a lot of wooden historic homes that have survived which you don't see as much in the UK, it seems. And don't worry -- there are plenty of historic sites in America less touristy than Salem! x (Oh and also...love your suitcase!)

Where i live 100 yr old buildings are extremely rare. Yes, when we went to Europe it was jaw dropping to see buildings all over the place older than our country. It was, well, WOW! Amazing when you have never seen any building, EVER, over 120 yrs old.
