I'm looking forwards to future battery tests, especially anything tied to your turbo setup. I ran a bunch of 4s 1400 mah 65c/130c Thunder Power packs in 2010-2011 as the starter motor battery for our Briggs and Stratton engines for our supermileage car in college. We replaced a 6lb DC Briggs starter motor and 6 lbs Pb battery with a quarter pound battery and half pound 800w brushless outrunner motor. Later on, we went down to a 400 watt motor that was a quarter pound... I remember pulling 1000 watts through it and it would only start smoking after 10 seconds, which was good enough for us. Unfortunately we moved to a 12:1 CR engine and it didn't have enough torque to turn over the engine. I also remember the 800w motor pulling about 150 amps. It had to last starting the engine ~20 times.
Amazing video. Not enough of this kind of comprehensive content here on TH-cam. I think a shoot out between the 4s big boys would be epic! Gens ace 11000mah 100c, zeee 10000mah 120c, smc 11300mha 150c, cnhl 9500mah 90c.
As a connoisseur of high output LiPo's, I can tell you 1. The Ovonic you got is the wrong one. Get the orange one. Its higher output. 2. THE BEST LIPO AVAILIBLE IS Tattu 5.0. It has the best continued amp draw. CNHL black are ok. Zeee are a good cheap battery.
Give the 4s Cnhl 90C with QS8 or bullets / 8ga leads a try. SMC also has some fantastic batteries. It would be cool to make a death match out of lipos where there's a king of the mountain and each video a competitor takes on the best performing lipo. Remember though, RC speed and drag racers want the best performance period. Price is typically one of the last factors we look at. I know, sad but true. Lol
Ovonic batterys are in sale now. I just ordered 8*1000mah 6s and 2*1150mah 6s and 170usd so it was much cheaper than other manufacturers and nice to know that it was ok in this test.
I run the zee packs in all my crawlers since there so cheap and small. I have had my crawler brown out if running a higher kv outrunner on a low pack. But for the coast there good for slow crawling.
Love the video, beats reading amazon reviews. I got a zeee battery recently, but going forward I think I'll go with the cnhl for rc racing. Where did you get the small load tester, wouldnt mind having one to bring my rc packs down to storage voltage after a race weekend? My current charger will only discharge at 1amp.
Thanks for reminding me - I knew I forgot something in the video description. Here's the link to the load tester: amzn.to/3jZ6NfX I'll add the link to the description too. Thanks again!
I would enjoy the headway 8ah cells. Battery hookup has them. It would be pretty cool to check out those. I have quite a few but limited to 40amp discharge with my set up. Would be interested in seeing if parallel strings hold up to really high output like 8p4s. It’s useful in 12v applications
I'm curious about those as well. I've purchased cells from them before and have been quite happy (100 tesla model 3 21700 cells that had been lightly used and re-wrapped). The headway cells may be useful for some future projects that need high power, yet are a large format for easy assembly.
In another video a guy started a car with one. 5ah at 120C is 600 amps at 12 volts. That's 7,400 watts which is about 10hp. But a XT90 connector will melt at 270 amps after a couple of seconds so be careful!
I started my car with a 4s 1200mah ovonic pack that was at 14.6v. Granted the car wasn't completely dead. I've done it quite a few times actually it works pretty well but a 3s pack would probably be a better choice to be safe
Would like to see higher voltage pack tests. Typically run 6s and 7s in 3s2p configurations with toy mini bikes. Curious if that would be enough to drive a “elec turbo”. Also was thinking the mechanical fuel pump installation kits are pretty ridiculous. An OBX china knock off mechanical pump is $325. Was thinking powering it with a small brushless motor and lipo pack only when needed could provide a TON of fuel cheapish.
I hear you. Working on that too. It's too cold to do much testing right now, but I am working on the setup - only a few more things to button up, then I can take it back to the dyno with the coated volute, new converter and meth injection.
@@AlexLTDLX thank you for all you do! You are such an influence. I would enjoy working with a guy like you around. Thank you for your replies! I’ve been intrigued by your supercharger. I have had a similar idea in my mind for years now. I do not possess the tools to do that kind of r&d. I would love to add your setup to my 2015 Lexus GS. I’ve got a 2004 Mustang GT ( Ford Guy) 😀 with 33k original miles. It’s unmodified, would be cool to put on that as well, so as to keep it as close to original. Btw, I love the LTD 👏🏼
I would love to see tattu by gens ace tested as well as powerhobby . Not necessarily against one another but I wanna see what you come up with. And should this idea continue I bet having a table to show a large array of brands and how they stack up would be a valuable asset! Love your work ... And your cat
Thanks for the test: You should also try something like a: Bonka 180C Tattu-R Line-5.0 150C Drone-IT 150C From CNHL you can also find the 120C Ministars and the 150C variants.
cool test, id love to see this with some of the 1000-1150mah 6s ovonics. I've always had such bad luck with any of those ovonic in both 3s and 6s having high IR and insane sag even off a new charge. the 120-130c ovonics are great though.
Can you make that again with some more packs please? I would love to see how they perform: CNHB, Ovonic, Tattu R-Line, Tattu Funfly, Gaoneng, GEPRC Storm, GENS ACE, GNB. I wish to see the test for 6S packs but it cant be done... THANKS
I love this battery testing I would love to see you test smc lipo's any line really but the SRD v2 8600mah 250c 4s is the top dog and I'd like to know how the spektrum batteries perform 5000mah100c4s and you can't forget gensace batteries and maybe power hobby lipo there supposed to be good. Can't wait to see what you test next.
This is the content we need! Awesome testing. Love to see the real world numbers compared to the claimed "rating"

@@whatugonnadu lmao, Didn't they go out of business?
@@MrSpeeder420 probably, they were trash
The plasma arc would probably make Simon rethink his lounge area!
I have that same ovonic 4s and had it for 3yrs. Oldest lipo I have and it still kicks ass
I like everything you do!!!!! Keep up.the good work!!!!
Thank you so much!
This is a fantastic Video Sir! Thank you for taking on the lipo testing. I'm super pumped to see when you get to the large lipos.
Which ones would you like to see?
@AlexLTDLX that probably depends on how much you're willing to spend!
I'm actually curious about the traxxas batteries personally. Imo they are junk and can't even handle the demands of stock traxxas cars and trucks.

Great episode, thanks for the info.
your tests are great, extremely detailed :D

can you do onyx 4s & smc 4s. thank you for your work. you are much APPRECIATED!🤙
hi very help full video pls test the tatu lipo and the GAONENG GNB and the spektrum lipo thx
CNHL, SMC, And ONYX batteries would be great, id like to see the CNHL racing 90c line

Hi nice video, are the videos on your load tester on the channel?
Yeah: th-cam.com/video/-uCXQdYspnI/w-d-xo.html
Have you looked at testing Onyx, Azur & smc speed run packs on your motors and on this test?
Great information!
Thanks
Wonder how well one of those would fair as a mini jump starter. Prob wouldn't try a car but a lawnmower or generator would probably work well.

More concerned about the high voltage to the various computers... Tho if you are connected to a flat lead acid it should never see over 15 volts.

got som cnhl packs both regular 6600mah hardcase for my traxxas slash and lipo shorty 4000mah for a race buggy and them all perform great.

Gens Ace redline VS ProTekRC VS some of the budget rc batteries, does name brands give you better performance?

Test china line 6s 9500 90c and china line g series 70 c 6s 5000mah packs the best battery for speed runs in rc
Should look into max amps, dogcom and tattu lipos next
Hey bud, just stumbled in. Already hooked and subbed up. Keep it comin.
I parralleled a pair of aliexpress 36v 108aH batteries for my trolling motor. Runs all day. Size of a childs shoebox.
The Rline tattu 1550mah 130c 4s lipos are the best. Period
Love the video but the cat gets the like
SMC, Gens Ace
Try the Spimo8hp cells from batteryhookup.
