Mouth taping has been a game changer for me. I’m ready to get up in the morning w/out feeling groggy. The continual yawning that I used to do throughout the day has stopped. I feel more alert also. Sometimes I’d wake up with dry mouth. Lol! I use regular 3M scotch masking tape. My local Walgreens did not carry micropore tape. It holds well n I use caution n care taking it off my face in the morning. So glad I didn’t write off mouth taping as nonsense.

Personally, after mewing for 1.5 years (I'm inconsistent with it but have done it off on) I have noticed my facial structure starting to look a bit better!! I've had weird teeth, a crooked face, and terrible profile, and I'm noticing a huge difference in my teeth straightening out and slight differences in my face! Also I've only been mouth taping for a few days and I've had the best sleeps of my life!! Highly recommend everyone try mewing and mouth taping!!

Tried taping for about 2 weeks now. It works great. The paper medical tape is just strong enough to keep my mouth closed all night and weak enough that I can easily break it by opening my mouth if need be. 1 roll should last at least a month or more and the tape sells for $2.99 for package 2 rolls at my local Kroger. Since I've been using the tape, I've had almost zero leaks at night on my Cpap machine.

I had a very bad experience with mouth taping that I feel needs sharing. I used 3M's hypoallergenic micropore tape. After about a month of using it I started having some weird mental symptoms, hard to describe but I referred to it as a brief lack of bloodflow to the brain, or a mental jolt, and they only occurred in the evening. I later developed edema (liquid retention/swelling) around my ankles, and then I started experiencing extremely low heartrate (around 50), a general sense of weakness, and noise sensitivity, specifically in the late evening. I went to the doctor, everything looked normal and I was sent to a heart specialist, who stuck a bunch of electropads on my torso to measure my heart over the course of 24 hours. The next day my symptoms were way worse, especially the edema. This is when I realized that what was causing all my issues was the adhesive used in the tape (the electropads were 3M as well), which was being absorbed through my lips into my body, and causing these symptoms. I stopped using the tape almost a month ago and I'm really happy to say that all of the symptoms have gradually disappeared! Just wanting to warn people of this potential consequence. However, I did in fact experience better sleep, so if anyone knows of a more natural alternative to keeping the mouth closed during sleep I'm all ears.

I just started taping my mouth at night last week. Wow! It's interesting because I've never been a good sleeper. BTW: I use Scotch tape -- about a two-inch piece laterally in the center of my lips. So far, the tape doesn't move at all through the night. I've also been more conscientious about how I breathe throughout the day. I've noticed differences but it's too early to report about it. I am so glad I found this and other videos about the topic. Thanks so much!

Seeing an Orofacial Myofunctional Therapist can help with proper oral posture and retraining people to breath through the nose. An ENT is great to see if you have a deviated septum and are capable to breath through your nose. If your dentist has a CT they can help determine if you have a deviated septum as well. If that is the case you have to address first prior to being able to retrain breathing habits.

I just started using CPAP about 2 weeks ago and haven't been able to keep the mask on through the night, due to the air aressure and humidity. Feels like I'm suffocating and hyperventilating. I finally realized I am also a mouth breather, which has caused me all kinds of problems, from waking multiple times to having parched mouth all the time. Nothing's worse, though, than waking up gagging, especially when I sleep on my back. I was a grinder, as well, until I started wearing a night guard. That turned into just clenching my jaws extremely hard. I am hoping the CPAP will help with the clenching, but I think taping might be the best thing yet for solving the other problems. With only a vertical strip of paper tape holding my lips closed, I sleep through the night. I have never once remove the tape in the middle of the night. I haven't been yawning all day. Tonight I will try sleeping with just the tape on.

Im 48 and have suffered for over 25 years from mouth breathing and didn't even know it. I was always groggy tired and yawning all day suffered from constant mucus in my throat and voice box and gerd. Iwas beyond annoying to say the least suffered also from deviated septom. I stumbled across mouth taping by accident and boy has it changed my life dramatically. I no longer wake up groggy dry mouthed and horrible breath. The mucus disappeared after about a week and a half i had constant sinus infections so much so i had surgery to repair my deviated septom. It didnt really help it came right back. But this is a game changer for sure. Im living a whole new life free of constant mucus, tiredness, and sinus infections and sleep like a baby. I used to wake up at least 5 times a night now i sleep the entire night most nights. Its amazing that a little piece of frickin tape can change so much. I was about to have a sleep study done because it was so bad to the point i would wake up gasping for air because my throat was always inflammed and mucus filled. But not anymore. I would highly recommend you try this method before spending thousands of dollars on costly surgerys and cpap machines.

I had a sleep test about two years back. The results were bad and I was awarded a CPAP and hated it instantly. Heard about taping the mouth and switching pillows to one where it's comfy to lie with the head slightly tilted backwards so that the chin don't fall down on the chest. I feel so much better that my doc has agreed to take another sleep test to see if my snoring and apnea has decreased. Since years I also use a tilted bed (Declined Bed Therapy).
