Thanks for this, Sam! I've become a huge Van fan over the last 2 years. I like to love every album he put out in the 70's. Thanks to this video, I'm gonna start getting his later stuff. Moondance is may fav, but I adore Tupelo Honey, and St Dominic's Preview, and Hard Nose the Highway. I got to cook for him in 2016 at the Hollywood Bowl during my tour catering days. What a great concert. Thanks again
No way Tom, that's so cool that you worked with his team like that! I saw him in 2018 and will never forget it. Thanks for swinging by, definitely check out Beautiful Vision and Hymns to the Silence. Good to hear from you!
Hi Sam, Great video and great choices! My top 10 would be: 10. Keep Me Singing 9. Enlightenment 8. Three Chords & the Truth 7. Hymns to the Silence 6. Moving On Skiffle 5. His Band & Street Choir 4. No Guru, No Method, No Teacher 3. Wavelength 2. Moondance 1. Astral Weeks
Wow, this would be tough to do. Nice to see Beautiful Vision ranked so highly. It's a favourite of mine, but I am not sure where it would fall in a top ten. Great list.
Wow. Great to see the love for Avalon Sunset. My top Van record also. Played that so much. Enlightenment is in my top 5 with Moondance, Hymns To The Silence. Those 3 in a row starting with Avalon were gold to me. No Guru is another one that’s fave. Thanks for the video San.
Boy, there’s a lot of albums to choose - I don’t have several of those “newer” ones. The ones I reach for the most are “Common One”, “Into The Music”, “Irish Heartbeat “ (with the Chieftains), “Veedon Fleece”, and “His Band And Street Choir”, - “Astral Weeks”, “Moondance”, and “Tupelo Honey” are great, obviously, but I kind of overdid it with them. Nice video video Sam.
Great ranking video Sam. Nice that you spread the plaudits out pretty evenly throughout his career. Van is one of the greats. I wish I had more of his albums to make a legit top 10. Of the 22 that I do have, Moondance, Tupelo Honey and Astral Weeks make up my Van trifecta. Into the Music is fantastic too. Enjoyed this very much.
Great job Sam, as it happens I recently came across his Saint Dominic's Preview album, and wondered why Van Morrison didn't get more attention on the VC
Awesome video Sam! You’re really good at the ranking videos, this gives me a direction for diving into his catalog which i really only know Moondance, it’s a decent album, not one of my favorites but i do like it👍🤘🤘
Great video. I am not too familiar with his whole discography. I remember being into him in the late 90s and 2000s. I have the healing game, which I like. I have the philosophers stone and tupelo honey. After that I kind of lost track of his releases because there were so many. I guess I have some listening to do!
It was interesting to see Versatile in your top ten as it is one of my least favorites; I saw it as him trying to be Mose Allison. Maybe I need to give it a new listen. I did like seeing Three Chords & The Truth in your top ten as I see it as being one of his best latter day recordings. "Why Must I Always Explain" is a great tune. I was a little surprised in your number one. I would have had Veedon Fleece, No Guru, No Method, No Teacher and Into The Music in there somewhere but he does have a great catalog with a bunch of wonderful albums to pick from. It was great to hear your thoughts.
@@Americanasam1994 You asked for our top ten and I forgot to give it. Some of them could change depending on the day but mine are: 1. Astral Weeks 2. Veedon Fleece 3. Moondance 4. People hate in him a lot in the VC. Randall Nelson and I are about the only ones who regularly talk about him haha.
I see the beard slowly making its way forth! Looking good Sammy Boy! 🤙🏻
Great video, I own Van’s hits album & it’s a great listen.
Thanks Anthony, I'd recommend snagging Tupelo Honey, it's one you'd like!
Veedon Fleece is definitely my favorite one. It'd be hard to pick a top ten, so much quality music he has produced.
Quality Street, if you will haha

Thanks Aaron, he's someone I find very little fault with!
Appreciate the new video - I'm only just recently decided to get into him as I got a handful of records from my dad and want to check out more
