Can not belive you have never had pickeld onion with fish and chips .We used to put the onion viniger on our fish and chips all the way back to the 60 s
Same here in Amble, Northumberland when it comes to pickled onions, in fact most chippers in Northumberland and Tyne&Wear(maybe not so much on the south of the river part of T&W) offer pickles; onions of course, pickled eggs, pickled mussels, whelks, etc. But the good folk of Liverpool are lucky because we on the east coast have to ask for pickles, even the basic onion, you seem to have been given the pickles, we have to ask them.
But he didn't just have fish and chips, he also had mushy peas and curry sauce, both of which will have cost at least £1.50. Then there's the can of Irn Bru, which I only tried once to discover it's absolutely awful stuff. Hopefully Scotland runs out of girders soon.
That chippy in The Albert dock is a rip off, prices for tourists.. no one local would even dream of paying their prices..£6.00 for large chips..😂 nearly as dear as a Cod.
@kenpassey9270 I once went with my family to Ambleside for the day. I went into a fishy about dinner time (takeaway Part) and asked for 5 bags of chips. The guy said £25 . I said f*** that and walked out, lol..... I went into the local convenience shop (store), bought a pre-packed sandwich, each " small bottle of Coke , each and a Packet of Crisps ,each, and it didn't even come to £12 🏴
£20 is a lot but it’s not the prices I pay in Liverpool…this is because of the higher rental prices in the dock itself. Elsewhere in Liverpool it’ll be less than half this price.
here's the irony my mum despite being liverpuddlian was a war child so was evacuated to bridgenorth shropshire where she was born ... The term scouse comes from merchant seamen whose frequent trips to Hamberg meant their staple diet was Labskaus which was shorten to scouse
Fish and chip shops in south Oxfordshire where I lived for 64 years always had pickled onions, pickled eggs and gherkins available but only added to your fish and chips if you asked for them.
Omg add these fish batter was a bit soggy for me fish was nice and peas I didn’t get the girkin or pickled onion omg my fav wtf I got a bun in stead lol ur looked lovely anyway love Liverpool 💯🌺🇬🇧Tracie’s vibes 👍
They did look good Lee and as for the pickled onion, we always had those in the chippie in London, a massive jar of huge pickled onions always on the counter and sometimes giant gherkins.

Also actors from Liverpool : Tom Baker, Elisabeth Sladen, Alison Steadman, David Morrissey and Michael Angelis(not born in Liverpool - but grew up in Dingle) - also his brother Paul.
Hi Lee. Pickled onions with fish and chips it’s a northern thing. I think especially true here in the north east we also put pickle vinegar on our chips.
Scouse pie growing up, Was a Mutton/lamb stew done in a deep pie tin, With a lard based pastry top, quite thick on top, So the underside of the pastry soaked up the juices, And the top was nice & crispy, A hearty meal that stuck to your ribs, As my mum used to say,
Hi Lee, scouser here and watch your vids all the time. I think you missed out a few more famous people from Liverpool, Tom Baker and Paul McGann of Doctor Who are from Liverpool! Also, have you been to bold street? There’s a lot of nice food places there. 👍
All chippys down south have pickled onions and gerkins, not small ones, monster size in battery acid.👍🏻 Don’t forget Gerry Marsden and the pacemakers Great talent 👍🏻 Good vid sir 👍🏻
If you ever go to Sea World on the Gold Coast in Queensland Australia don't take your eye off your fish and chips for a second or 10,000 seagulls will attack like they did mine.

I perused the menu and they had something called "the Docklands' fish special". It included cod, haddock, calamari, scampi chips and mushy peas. I'm pretty sure I'm going to try that if I get the chance.
yes, I second this Lee. 3 miles from City Centre but when a chippy only has to open up for a couple of hours at dinner and then a few hours at tea time, and it is always queuing out the door, you know it must be good!
Oh Lee Mate if you're around Huddersfield you have to try a meal at Hickory's Smokehouse You will find it on Bradley Road the place, the staff, the food, God the food! is amazing! You must book a table or you won't get one! Love to see you there!
Better off getting on the Merseyrail Northern Line and heading up to The Good Catch at Freshfield station. The best fish and chips around. (It’s a small local family chain). Really good quality. Glad you mentioned skin on chippy fish. It’s just wrong!
You're always going to pay through the Nose at the Albert Dock, but they did look pretty good. There is a Local Chippie called Eddie Lockhearts less that ten mins drive away, large Cod and Chips with Mushy Peas Seven Quid and it's absolutely brilliant Grub. It's been in the same family since the 1960s 👍👍
What an absolute rip off at £20, I bought two roast dinners in big Yorkshire puddings yesterday from a place in Carlisle centre for £21 and it was amazing food.
Deffo not one of the best in Liverpool as unless you go the Albert dock you don’t know it’s there. So many better places in Liverpool and can’t believe the price. Glad you’ve enjoyed our brilliant city x
Idiots pay for it then cry cos they are skint. I'm lucky enough to be able to afford it, but won't pay that on principle as you can go to other places equally as good for half the price.
I believe "Scouse" is a type of stew served in Liverpool - I think it can be made from loads of different meats and vegetables, so that is what I imagine is in the filling for the "Scouse pie".
Try visit derby day , the only city in this country where the opposite supporters sit together, during a game in a pub , theirs murders 😂😂😂that is scouse banter for lyrical abuse , my advice go watch some videos so you can learn the lingo ,the place is full of history 😁
That looks good.. Better than the junk in South Wales. Half cooked chips or soggy. Bland frozen cod and mushy batter. Good to see something decent. Wetherspoons are the best here or Trago mills.. Of course, not tried every fish and chip shop, bound to be a good one. Just need to find it.
Not curry sauce and mushy peas again. All you need is the vinegar from the pickle onion jar and salt. Where are the potato cakes or scallops as some people call them and steamed or fried dim sims. Looked average and prices were high 🇦🇺

The only fish and chips shop in the Melbourne CBD is in the Docklands area, I might try it next time that I am in Melbourne and give it a review.

Fish and chips are great but how are they cooked you should ask if they are cooked in oil or dripping (best way) there is a vast difference.
started outside the holiday inn express, great digs with the "whats cooking" bar & grill underneath, not brilliant but good enough for liverpool
Byrnes in Walton by far best in Liverpool. Thought it won the award near enough every year.
Looks very nice 👌 👍
Come back to Liverpool Lee and try a bowl of scouse at the Metropolitan Cathedral cafe located inside the Cathedral. Great video
Are you sure you live in Pudsey, because lots of chippies sell pickled onions and even pickled eggs around Leeds and Bradford.
It’s normal to have pickles in London and a pickled egg. If it’s to your taste.
The pickled gerkin is called a ‘Wally’.
