Driver's Eye View (Hungary) Part 3 - Balatonederics to Fonyód with an iconic 1960's NOHAB Diesel

- Once again I'd like to say a big “thank you” to the driver/engineer of this iconic 1960's GM designed, NOHAB diesel locomotive for allowing me to mount a camera in the cab to record this video so that we can all enjoy the wonderful views normally reserved for the train crew.
In this video we start at Balatonederics, a small resort town next to Lake Balaton. At this point in time the line has not been modernised, giving viewers a last chance to travel along the lake shore before the overhead catenary and all the paraphilia that comes with modernisation detracts from the beautiful lake side scenery. The railway and it's trains are stuck in a wonderful 1950's/60's time-warp as we skirt the shoreline with views over the lake. Keszthely marks the start of the overhead catenary where electric trains to Budapest are operated using an interesting mixture of elderly and modern electric locomotives alongside modern EMU's. These scenes will soon be swept away by modernisation, this is the time for photographers to capture the last days of the soon to be withdrawn locomotives.
At Balatonszentgyörgy we join the busy single track route connecting Budapest to Murakeresztúr and the Croatian railway network, this results in our locomotive being worked hard to fit into an already busy timetable. Once again we skirt the shoreline all the way to Fonyód where we take an extended break to visit the promenade and town. Although our journey was not over, heavy rain and failing light prevented me from recording the remainder of our journey back to Budapest via Dombóvár.

Perfect video and sound. I really enjoyed watching and thank you for posting .
Thank you, I'm pleased you enjoyed it.
Another great episode Tim. Was watching whilst on duty at Puff with a NA and NGG16 passing through. No ‘ghosts’ on this Station today!!
Cheers from Puf’n-Pete
Hello Pete, I've just returned from South Africa where I shot some great footage of the 2 ft gauge Garrets in action, I look forward to sharing the action as time allows me to edit and upload the videos. Neil's got a thing about ghosts .

Hello, thank you for listing the stations. I made a mistake and uploaded the wrong version of this video. This video is now "unlisted" and I will upload the correct version in the next day or two.
A beautiful part of the world thanks Tim.🫖☕🍩🤠
I'm pleased you enjoyed it. I made a mistake and uploaded an unfinished version, it will reappear shortly with a title and station names 🤫.
Super video
Thank you.
Saya senang Anda menikmati videonya.
58:08, two trains on the same track at the same time😮. How safe is the Hungarian railway network?
Maybe the zoom lens exaggerated the situation, I thought I was about to witness a collision, but as it turned out, it was a safe manoeuvre. Hungarian railways are as safe as any railway system in Europe.
Hi, Tim. You're not identifying stations you pass through, I see.
Great view angle are they gonna stop this line permanently ,pity ! the sun was hiding behind the clouds all the way bad weather follows you till the end ? LOL 😄😄
I'm glad I was able to film this trip whilst it is still possible to do so. I should be hired to bring rain to drought stricken areas of the world ☔⛱😊.
Hi Tim! Fine video to enjoy 👍. Hungary is beautiful. Best regards from the Mühlviertel, Hans 🍻👍.
Hello Hans, I made a mistake and uploaded a version of this video without titles and captions, I'll upload a corrected version later this week. I've just arrived home after a very tiring trip to South Africa, more about that once I've caught up to date with everything. Cheers. Tim.
0:25 A g-g-g-ghost lorry! It vanished right before our eyes! LOL
@neilforbes416 Hi Neil! Three hunters come together in the inn. The first one says, last week I shot an eagle that weighed at least 3 kilos. The second one says, 2 days ago I shot a condor that had wings that were over 2 meters long. The third hunter says, that's nothing at all. Yesterday I shot a silver goose and when it came down, 300 people got out, grins. Best wishes from Hans and cheers 🍻.
@@johannperaus6890 Nice one! Here's one more!
An Aussie, American, Hungarian and a Czech were in the Northern Territory, hunting two man-eating kangaroos. The Hungarian and Czech go missing. The Aussie and American locate the two kangaroos, the Aussie fires of a shot that hits and kills the female kangaroo, when they cut her open the Hungarian climbs out and dusts himself off and says thanks. But the gunshot frightens the other kangaroo away, and the American asks about the other fellow, to which the Aussie says, "I guess the Czech's in the male"(cheque's in the mail!) LOL😁
@@johannperaus6890 Nice one 😊.
0:44 OMG! The place is h-h-h-haunted! LOL
Don't you wish you could do that !!!
@@Timsvideochannel1 Well..... in a way I *can!* Using editing tricks, of course! LOL
38:45 Another haunted station! LOL
@neilforbes416 Make that your last one liner or you won't have a ghost of a chance next time
