    Hey this tutorial totally saved me! I was having trouble setting up my shop and I was confused of how Etsy wanted me to choose options. The video solved my problem on how I could set options for digital illustrations. It also helped me find my target customers and what to detail in descriptions. The second video you made as a sequel also helped a lot. I hope you keep up with the good work so that people like me could get support!

      You’re welcome 😊 I started in mid November, and got my third order by the first week of December. Since making this video I now have seven new characters to draw - I won’t be able to tell yet how much of that is seasonal and how much isn’t. I look forward to figuring it out though :) and I’ll keep my TH-cam updated on what comes of it ☺️

    May I ask, let’s say you got a sale and your currently doing that, but then you got another sale on top of that, is their like a time limit to each sale you do? I kinda feel abit pressured about time frames since I draw abit slow because of details/coloring.

    • @PerryPictures
      @PerryPictures  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @FloeFlan that’s a good question ☺️ I set my Processing Time (13:50) to 1-2 weeks, this gives me the time I need after each order is placed to complete each piece. If you need more than 1-2 weeks you can always set yours to longer. I talk about my process after I receive an order in my Part 2 video th-cam.com/video/O7BJKBA9Y4s/w-d-xo.html that may be very helpful for you as well. And if you have any more questions please feel free to ask 💕

    hello, how do you complete order on etsy if you finish the commission and had sent the file through email to your buyer? Do you just select any shipping because you already stated that it was free, or do you select shipping not available?

      Go to Etsy shop manager, orders tab on the left toolbar, and you can mark as shipped once you emailed it, no tracking info is required. I also have a video that shows the process of completing an order that might help: th-cam.com/video/O7BJKBA9Y4s/w-d-xo.html

    this is a great tutorial but i followed it and the site is requiring me to put in the width and height so not sure what I did wrong

    • @PerryPictures
      @PerryPictures  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Lizafae; if the width and height mandatory fields are in the shipping section; its ok to just put 7.25/5.25 and 1oz weight since this wont affect the order at all after you set up free shipping. But if its making you fill in width and height in the shop listing for your item, without being able to replicate the problem, the only thing I know to suggest is go back through the setup in the video step by step and see if anything might look different. I hope one of those answers helps!

      I connect it when I know I'm going to do a transaction, then disconnect it when I'm done, this way I am not caught of guard by any surprise paypal withdraws on my bank statement (not that I have a lot of experience with those, but just to be safe I've made this a habit).

    i have a few questions: how dose etsy work with buying things like this? dose it hold the money till you send the listing?

    • @PerryPictures
      @PerryPictures  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Once someone purchases a drawing from your listing, the money is sent to your Etsy account, you technically could withdraw it before fulfilling the order, but I wouldn’t recommend it until after just in case you want to refund it for any reason (if there’s a family emergency and you won’t have time to do the commission, etc)

      Although I haven't experienced this personally, it is not an uncommon issue. The general feedback on the forums recommends going to the community & help section of your dashboard and selecting Etsy Help. At the bottom of that screen is a button to Contact Etsy Support. They will receive the trouble ticket and help you to resolve the issue. I hope you're able to get in contact with them quickly and get your store listings set up exactly how you like them :)

    • @briannaliversidge864
      @briannaliversidge864 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i had this issue too, i selected the type as "digital" instead of "physical" and etsy doesn't let you have variations on the "digital" option, so just switch the type to physical

  • @alien-oo-_-oo5732
    @alien-oo-_-oo5732 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Weren’t you supposed to select “Digital” where it says “Type”?
    I see you have “physical” selected, it’s kind of confusing.

    • @PerryPictures
      @PerryPictures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      only if you're selling digital downloads of premade (finished) files. for example, people who create stationary will select digital since the file will be automatically downloaded the second the buyer purchases it. For comissions you need time to physically make it, so you choose physical and then offset this by setting up "free shipping" so that buyers arent charged for a physical item that theyre getting digitally instead.

    • @alien-oo-_-oo5732
      @alien-oo-_-oo5732 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PerryPictures Yeah my art is already made and when we choose digital it’s automatically free shipping so thought it was way simpler this way, by commissions you mean like custom art? I’m just confused how we can sell something that isn’t made yet, if it’s not made yet how would the customer see it?

    • @PerryPictures
      @PerryPictures  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      So a commission is a custom order That you make personalized for the buyer. The artwork shown is example art. If they buy a commission that you set up as a digital download they’ll actually be buying the example art and that is what Etsy will send them. That’s why it’s important if you are selling commissions, to set it up as physical and create to order the personalized art. If you are actually trying to sell a premade digital download then it’s fine to use digital… but don’t put commission or personalized in the title because costumers will get confused and upset if they buy something they believed you were going to create custom for them… and instead they bought and download the Art you made of, or for something else. As long as it’s clear you’re selling your art as shown then it’s fine to use digital 😊

    Thank you. I have a bunch of edgy/horror, erotic fantasy illustrations based on a cam model. She acquiesced to letting me draw her likeness as long as I removed or changed the tattoos, which I have. I am planning on selling them as 18 x 24 and 18 x 18 posters and am sizing them as such but their PNGs are all over 10MG now and etsy won't even upload them. Any suggestions? I would appreciate that.

    • @PerryPictures
      @PerryPictures  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t know what Etsy’s conditions are regarding erotic content so first and foremost I recommend checking it doesn’t violate their terms. Also make sure you have proof of her consent to use her likeness in the exact way that you’re using it. Regarding the size limits, if you are planning to ship posters then perhaps on the listing it would be fine to upload a lower resolution file. If you’re selling digital downloads, maybe try saving as a Jpg or compressing the PNG file. Best of luck, I hope this info helps.

    • @MrZZooh
      @MrZZooh 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@PerryPictures Thanks. Etsy does have the categories for the things I mentioned above, horror, nudes and fantasy. And I am pretty sure about these illustrations not violating anyone's rights especially since I have that person's written consent in my emails. So that's that. But this 10 MG size limit is really annoying. If I lower the resolution, it might appeal less to buyers. I am going to look into downsizing files with minor quality degredation.

    Does Etsy handle legal requirements like giving tax forms when I need to file taxes?

    • @PerryPictures
      @PerryPictures  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Martin, I think it depends on your location. but when I look at my shop manager under the Finances tab, it has a section for taxes and for me it says Etsy shop owners who use Etsy Payments to process over $20,000 in gross sales for more than 200 orders in a given calendar year will receive a 1099-K form. If you run multiple shops, the sales across all your shops will be combined to determine whether you have met the reporting thresholds. If your combined shop totals qualify, you will receive a single 1099-K with the combined gross totals from your shops. Highly encourage you to check out your shop manager area on the website and see what the finances section says for your location.
