Great job guys! Ive watched these videos multiple times and learn something each time. Very realistic approach with questions from ‘dpe’. I like the setting and screens of foreflight. My ifr checkride is next week, ill be watching these some more… Keep up the good work!
I never take the time to comment but this was put together very well, and very specific, more than any other mock check rides I watched. The nit picky questions is what sets the tone in a a check ride, if you know the little details you know your stuff.. thanks for the video
Despite what the comments say, you guys did a great job. I passed my private by watching your private checkride video. If I had to make a comment, include as much information and real questions in these videos that you can so that I can know what to expect.
Thanks! When we make these we sit down with the ACS and make sure every task is covered with real questions we have been asked on our checkrides and in discussions with DPEs. Our goal is to produce a look into a checkride that is as true to life as possible. These videos are true to the types of checkrides we have had but may differ in certain areas due to different DPEs. Congratulations on your pilot certificate!
Great video and a great resource, appreciate the small and technical questions. Even though the student does gets the majority of the questions correct it would be nice to get the technical and complete answers to some of your questions on the side when the student struggles to form an answer, Thanks for the vid!
This is really helpfull guys,i have a checkride next week and this is giving me an amazing look at what to expect. Keep up the good work and do more of those with other students and for commercial would be amazing
Hey Caleb and Andrew! Nice video! I was listening to this, and not paying attention to the video so much. About midway through, I realized that it was you guys! See you at the next CAP meeting!
I wish this video had more dpe explanations in text with a better explanation of what the student was trying to reach for or at least more info on the matter. A lot of times I wasn’t sure if he was getting something wrong or if there was a better way to say it.
I honestly do not feel his performance warranted a discontinuance. Nobody watching this video at his level of training and actually sitting with an examiner and being grilled for 2 hours would have performed better.
Caleb, the DPE, just has high standards:). It came down to Andrew, the applicant, being stubborn on his misunderstanding of high and low pressure systems and then his confident yet incorrect assertions on use of WAAS nav equipment. A better action would have been to express uncertainty and to look up the answer in an approved source and show the DPE. We know from the ACS that an applicant must consistently meet the standards. What exactly that means and if Andrew's performance meets that criteria will always be up to the DPE. Try as we may it is not possible to remove the human element from the assessment process.
Speaking as a ii watching this for his students he did deserve to discontinue. Too many areas with minimal knowledge..... argue with the examiner on wx, waas raim, etc
To not understand the difference between high and low pressure on such a basic level should definitely be discontinued Not to mention how much the examiner tried to help him see his mistake he didn’t get it
This is easily not passable. Lots of basic PPL knowledge even being unknown. For instrument you should know 70% or more information. This was more 50/50. Failure.
Thank you for making this video. It was good. It was also watching the candidate being nervous as heck even though this is a Mock check ride. It was a bit difficult to hear your annunciation sometimes due to the acoustics in the room and also you guys talking over each other at times. Just positive feedback for you guys overall great video.
The disapproval was a bunch of horse shit. Please don’t ever think about becoming an actual DPE. He had some issues, but overall he did fine, and would be a safe enough pilot to fly in IMC and under IFR.
Don’t have to memorize everything just need to know where to find the information if you don’t know the specifics. Looked up a lot of things in the FAR/AIM on my private checkride.
I feel like he really dug himself into a hole with weather, specifically high pressure low pressure. The “DPE” gave him several opportunities to fix it and he literally said “I’d still argue that I’m right” at some point. GPS waas and raim and cross country were a little shaky as well. That’s my personal opinion though. I’m working on my instrument rating at a part 141 and I’ve unsat things for less lol Nonetheless this was very helpful and i appreciate you guys for doing this!

You can't convince me this isn't just the same guy who styled his hair differently green screened in together.
I thought about just using a mirror but decided to try some video effects to make it more authentic 😎
@@SafetyPilotOfficial you're awesome I always appreciate people making content to help others prepare 🤘
Please do more with different students. This is really helpful

This student showed a lot of heart. He seems only 75% knowledgable but he still gave it his best shot

I love following along to these its like watching dora the expolra saying "when do we need a RAIM check?"
People in your house getting worried why you are closed up in your room talking to yourself about flying arcs and going missed 😂
@@SafetyPilotOfficial that sounds like a great horror movie idea
This video is an excellent training aid. You did a fantastic job.

Small world! Good luck preparing for your instrument checkride. Reach out to Caleb if you need a great CFII.

6:52 had me cracking up
Excellent program. Thanks guys.
How does our airplane get us information? "Through sensors" 😂 A+ I've given my CFII the same answer
Keeping it simple:)
Does anyone know how they got the procedure altitude constraints to show on the map view? Example at 47:12
Stellar training video
You two could be brothers!
They aren’t brothers??
Thank you guys!

Thanks for the feedback! We are not video makers but we are working to improve audio and video quality!
Thank you for posting this
This is the same guy right?
Lost comms needs reviewing.
Too bad it is so frustrating to understand the audio.
What’s a stabilized approach?
“One where you’re not doing steep turns or s-turns”
Bro what? 😂
I’m worried my instrument Checkride is going to be this hard
It’s for sure gonna be harder than this
Expect it to be much "harder" than this.
damn

Something tells me you’re not a CFI, or a pilot with over 25 hours of actual..........
@@daffyduck8695 in commercial, ahead of fast track program schedule, no checkride fails, with F9 program.
@@cheezkakeproductions lol, regional pilot….. and cfi-i . It’s not horse shit too many areas where the examiner was leading him on
Well this 2 part series has convinced me to quit training after getting 70% through training. This is just to much to memorize.
Is this a joke?

Good video but what's with the forced blinking. Get some eye drops or something.
Why was this a disapproval?
Applicant yawned too many times.

@@Queenlene0710 You are spot on. These are areas Caleb, the "DPE", identified as unsatisfactory.
@@Queenlene0710This video series made me quit. My brain is 48 not 18.
Ticky tacky questions
Applicant actor did not stay in character and seemed casual and flippant, generally unprofessional.
Agreed. Kind of an immature attitude. I think he was annoyed that his weak areas were exposed, which is never fun.
