Airplane Has a Large Fuel Leak in its Wing!
A few days ago I found signs of a major fuel leak under the wing of a Piper Warrior. Watch as I remove the fuel tank and assess the situation.
If you are a pilot I hope you will enjoy the lessons that can be learned here about proper aircraft preflight inspection. A leak like this, if left untreated could lead to fuel starvation, corrosion, or an inflight fire.

Flying into clouds under visual flight rules (VFR) is one of the top causes of aircraft accidents. Hear our story and learn about the dangers and lessons of flying in poor weather conditions. This video was filmed more than a year ago and has become a great lesson for both of us. Events like this are why we recommend all pilots receive training from CFIIs in actual IMC and receive instrument ra...

You are flying the pattern wrong (and other lessons from foreign pilots)
มุมมอง 811ปีที่แล้ว
Is the way you are being taught to fly the best, or safest way you could possibly fly? Are all pilots taught to use checklists, do runups, fly left traffic, and enter downwind at a 45 degree angle? The answer is no. General Aviation rules are different in every country and there must be a reason. We will look at four ways flying in the USA differs from common practices in the East and what we c...

    Worst explanation of a turbine engine ever. Thrust is produced mostly by the expansion of the burning gases being directed out the rear of the engine. But hey, at least it wasn't AI.....

      eh, high-bypass turbofan engines ...

    • @willmcgo8288
      @willmcgo8288 วันที่ผ่านมา

      He did show an Airbus 310 at the start of the video, which would be a turbo-fan style turbine engine. The Ducted Fan at the front of the engine provides most of the propulsion, is driven by the turbine. Most of the the air moved by the fan bypasses the turbine. The bypass ratio on the Airbus 310 is about 4.5 to 5, depending on the engine used, so 4.5-5 times as much air goes around the turbine as goes through the turbine.

      You're describing the turbojet engine,,, this engine is turbofan type. Way more efficient and quieter than the tj

    So, most of the thrust comes from the fan in the front of the engine you say? Bullshit.

    • @indydave1849
      @indydave1849 วันที่ผ่านมา

      No,,,that's true. Look it up. Turbines priority is to turn fan.

    • @willmcgo8288
      @willmcgo8288 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You need to look up high bypass turbo-fan engine. The Airbus 310 that was shown at the start of the video has a bypass ratio between 4.5 and 5, meaning the fan moves about 4.5-5 times as much air around the turbine as through it. That is not just for fun, that bypass air provides more thrust than the turbine exhaust.

    Am I dumb? I was under the impression that if someone provides the aircraft(rent) and then hires me to fly them somewhere that is perfectly legal under part 91? The person who has operational control isn’t making money off of this flight they are paying for it so they don’t need an operational certificate?

  • @gang4001

    One thing with a lot of videos is that they make themselves seem like robots. No one knows everything and they're not asking you to know everything. It's your thought process and having a general idea of where to get information is most important. Some things are a must, but you can generally get by if you know where to find everything.

    Idk if I see the value of two random young pilots pretending to be a DPE and student. I’d rather watch real students and real DPEs in fact I’d rather read the FARAIM PHAK and others than watch this 😂

      @21purpleman 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Have you ever taken a checkride? Was it similar to this? These guys aren’t just random pilots they are certified flight instructors whose job it is to send students to exams just like this. They have taken these oral exams on multiple occasions and sent many students to them with success. I’ve flown with one of these guys before and no one is perfect but he was a great and knowledgeable instructor. In my five years of flying I have never met anyone who knew the FARS better than him. Not to mention he is also an A&P who taught me a lot about what’s inside the airplane. Based on other comments I see I am not alone in finding tons of value in this video!

    Would you recommend having your very first trainer as a tailwheel? Like getting your PPL in one ?

    • @SafetyPilotOfficial
      @SafetyPilotOfficial 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I wouldn’t recommend it but it isn’t outrageous to consider the idea. Some may tell you that it is foolish but remember historically everyone used to learn in TW aircraft. The pros are you will learn to be more proficient on the rudders from the start and have a better understanding of P factor and wind correction techniques. The cons are your training will likely take longer than it would with a tricycle gear especially in areas of landing and takeoff. Mastering landings is generally the most frustrating part for students and flying TW makes landings much more technical. With a good instructor and practice you can succeed either way. Thanks for your question. Fly safe.

    Just passed my commercial oral and listened to this video at least 7 times prior to it. Thank you guys for making this a free resource for pilots to use. It's a great resource to get yourself into the mindset and familiar with how an oral will similarly go. It's important for anyone else who's preparing for the oral to understand this video is far from the sufficient knowledge you will need to pass the stage check, your examiner can ask any number of questions on whatever topics related to the ACS that they so choose. Study EVERYTHING

    Think back: while you were immersed in your dire situation, all around you were pilots who fly in that kind of weather all the time and think nothing of it. To them everything was normal; they had no idea that in your cockpit panic was at the threshold. Experience and training make all the difference in the world. Makes you think, doesn’t it? Tell us: when you found yourself suspended inside that virtual ping-pong ball and unable to see anything but white and water, did you ever feel like you couldn’t breathe and were about to drown?
