Wow, that rig turned out fairly nice. I like how the meter is front and center and being the focal point of the overall look! Kinda like what Porsche did to the dash on the 912's and 914's, the tachometer is the largest meter and is front and center on the dashboard!.

Excellent radio. Panasonic made a good product, manufacturing many other radios for other brands, like Lafayette.

Back in the day, the best tube radios like Trams, Brownings, and Regencys all were capable of 0.1 microvolts, while pre-1970 transistors struggled to get below the 1 microvolt level. What the increased sensitivity does is to give you more range... and more noise.
Unless you live in the National Radio Quiet Zone, you are going to have a noise level. Many different things combine to make up that noise level, things like microprocessors, LED lights, and power line insulators.
The net effect is having a constant high noise level, something that reduces the usefulness of a radio.
Here is an example of the difference: years ago I had a Regency Imperial and a General Electric 40 channel mobile. On my Penetrator, the GE had a S1 noise level and nothing was coming through. I connected the Imperial, and there was a shallow tropospheric opening and I was hearing stations from New England at about a S4 with a S2 noise level.
