- This clip is of the Ted Haines Memorial Radar Run and the old snowmobile show. The last run features blazing speed from "Modzilla".
In late January 2008, after weeks of single digit highs and sub zero lows, Old Man Winter gave us a weekend of wonderful highs in the 20s on Saturday and up into the 30s on Sunday. It happened to correspond with the Celebration of Lakes held in Center City MN. The Celebration of Lakes is sponsored each year by the Chisago Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce, check their website for dates.

There are few things as fun as witnessing snowmobile radar runs on a frozen lake! Even more so when you enter your own sled. The beauty of it is that no one judges you or your sled - everyone enjoys a good time. Thanks for the video - it brings back great memories!

Seeing them pull that second cord surprised me a little, but not as much as I was in the winter of 1968/69 when at the age of 10 I saw the original ski-doo Double Eagle at the Snow Mobile races in Perth Andover New Brunswick! It was there for publicity, it did not race but it was driven around some. It had two fan cooled TNT 399 engines, one running backwards with pull cord out the front. There were 21 built with 2X 399 engines to race the 800cc limit, and three built with 2X 669cc TNT engines for the unlimited class. It was loud and impressive! It was nicely built and looked like it could have been a production consumer sled, it had an 18" wide track. That same day I saw Diablo Rouge, Moto Ski, Boa Ski, Skiroule, Snow Cruiser, Dauphin, Snow Prince, Mercury and of course all the common sleds of the day.
nice I remember the sled racing up in that area as well. was in Perth Andover this summer. still a great little town
There is a 2x 399 screaming eagle near me, built for a land speed record with 4 tuned pipes on the right side....it is quite a thing to behold. If you google double eagle you will find a pic of it at a show with a sign in front of it. Owned by Josh Torno.

Who remembers the 'Barron' 3 cyl Moto ski drag sled ? Late 60's early 70's it was fast in the northeast .
