I'm a retired Montessori teacher and we used to make fall pumpkins using velvet, burlap, and other fall themed fabric wrapped around toilet paper rolls. So easy for toddlers. We used brown paper bags twisted to make the stems...just wrap rolls, tuck in fabric and place stem in hole. No sewing!!
    The parents loved them.

I could not love your ideas here more!! I’ve watched this video so many times❤️ Fall is my favorite season. We moved from TN, where the weather was so perfect for fall decorating. Now, we are in SC at the beach and it’s very different weather for fall, much warmer. I’ll still be incorporating these ideas in fall ‘22. Thanks so much for being so incredibly inspiring, Sarah!!

For no sew velvet pumpkins take a large square of velvet (keep an eye out for velvet curtain panels at the thrift store) fill it with batting or an old pillow gather in the center making sure you catch all the edges. Take twine and tie very tightly at the top of your pumpkin. Leave a long tail of twine. A LONG tail. Wrap, wrap, wrap all the excess to form a stem. Tie off at the very top of the stem. I dress mine with thrifted necklaces in coordinating colors.

So classy, and even subtle. I appreciate that so much more than gaudy orange scarecrows and “Happy Fall Y’all” signage on everything. Personal preference, but I’m glad I’m not the only one. 😅

I love this video, love all things fall and all things She Holds Dearly. I have to admit it did make me chuckle a little bit to hear you say to decorate with firewood. However, I do love when it is that time of year and we have a stack by the fireplace.

I was shopping in Home Goods yesterday and every year, in the Fall they have English Brown Transfer Ware. This year it has pheasants and is just charming, if you need to add to your collection or want to start one get to Hone Goods, much easier than hoping you find some pieces that are nor chipped, cracked out in The Wild. I have always loved English and French Transfer Ware. Thanks For another delicious video ❤️👏❤️.

There is a difference between garden and florist mums. Garden mums make underground rootstocks that make them able to survive from year to year. Florist mums are basically annuals.

I've been growing kale in a galvanized tub out in front of my porch and every time they get big enough to have a few leaves on them, something eats all of the leaves off. The lettuce did really good until they drowned from too much water (a couple of heavy downpours last month) and now I'm growing radish in the tub. So far, so good. We've gotten a few tomatoes off the sickly tomato vine and the cucumbers look like yellow golf-balls. The impatiens did wonderfully well. I think that's what I should plant in all the tubs next year. smile!

    • @Melody-285

I wonder if there is some sort of a natural bug repellant you could spray on them & then leave outside for a few days - I wouldn’t want to use something full of chemicals like Raid ! Maybe something vinegar based ? I’m gonna do some research !

It’s not a huge issue in WA, but I know it can be in the South. If its something that can’t be ruined, I would soak it in salt water.
I know some people bake items on low in their ovens to do the same.

Two questions: 1). How do you store your faux flowers and Fall leaves? I've stored some in tubs and they smell horrible and it lingers. I've been using cardboard boxes more recently. 2).How can I get the horrible plastic tub combined with faux flowers smell out? Thank you!

    • @SheHoldsDearly

I throw the leaves out each year and keep the faux flowers in buckets with plastic over them out in my shop. You will probably need to hand wash your flowers in the sink with some dish soap.
