  • When my husband Bob and I traveled to Strasbourg, several surprises made this trip more unforgettable. On June 8, to our surprise, we couldn’t reserve seats for next day trip to Germany. Thus, we stayed in Strasbourg for two days.
The Strasbourg’s Cathedral Notre Dame is the highest building in the Christian world; its sculptures, stained glass windows and the clocks were outstanding masterworks.
The 3rd astronomical clock combined the mechanical design with astronomical knowledge in its planetary calendar. It shows the positions of the sun and moon.
Artists created many hammocks in the cathedral square, They celebrate Strasbourg becoming UNESCO 2024, World Book Capital City.
Folk musicians played music while tapping dance beats; the performance displayed vivid folk music culture.
At the Hotel Cour du Corbeau, the fish in breakfast was surprising: fish roll, fish cake became the special features. In dinner, we had grandma meat stew, ham and salad.
The video music uses elements from the Hallelujah tunes heard from the cathedral. After the folk musicians’ playing, a piano music renders a folk-tune like passage in cheerful mood.

What a charming visit with lovely piano accompaniment. When our daughter was in high school she had to write a paper based on an imagined tour of another country. She chose Austria and I remember that she wrote enchantingly about the charms of Strasbourg! This video fits my memories of that paper.

Strasbourg is a very pretty city with its old buildings grouped around the the river and canal channels (called Petite France) and the old buildings around its wonderful cathedral. It's in between German and French cultures. It 's in the province of Alsace, one of France's nicest, with lots of beautiful villages, great food and wine, and many art treasures, especially in the town of Colmar. People were friendly and helpful.

Your comments evoke my memories of the beautiful scenes in Strasbourg. Its fairytale like environment and vivid cultural activities reflect the culture and enjoyable life style in France. It helps our minds moving from Medieval Ages to Contemporary. Thank you!
