Back when I did American Civil War Civilian reenacting, it just wasn't an event if I didn't have last minute hemming, sewing on a button, etc at the event. Seriously. Oh, I can do that there. Hmm, yes, those were the days or weekends, rather. This is how they did hand sewing during the 1860's. 🙂So I would say to myself.
Those buttons! Absolutely perfect choice for the cardigan. I never regret swapping out buttons on garments but put it off shamefully long when it's no bother at all 😬
Happy New Year to you and yours as well! The mother of pearl buttons do look so much better than those plastic ones, I very seldom consider the buttons on the clothing I purchase, but I shall now. Yes, a vintage vehicle and some vintage gentlemen, I would have packed some handwork too. bless 'em!
Love the pearl buttons on the sweater, gives in something extra the prior buttons didn't have that came with the sweater. Love the belted button look, it's a style we don't see often. Hoping you had a lovely Christmas and most joyous New Year!
I love these random slices of life. Thank you for sharing. Am I right in thinking happy doggy is a Lurcher? Wishing you and yours a happy and healthy 2022. Bright blessings
It's always nice to get some things sorted at the beginning of a new year. Amazing what a difference buttons can make to an outfit. All the very best of what is apparently a new year to you both. Cheers! Happy 100 years to King Tutankhamun for being rediscovered. I'm not doing repairs right now. But I am trying to learn how to make some tatting lace. I think I'm starting to get the hang of which way my hands are suppose to flourish past each other. - Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown/Pimisi
@@stanceymackenzie I have a sample of my Great Granny's tatting lace to try and replicate. It will be a journey. But it should be an enjoyable one. And much less confusing than traditional lace with the multiple bobbins. Happy New Year.
You aren't alone in doing New Year's Day sewing repairs. I need to replace a patch on my already heavily patched work jeans which will be done today. Happy New Year!
Happy New year to you both, the trick with curly hair is don't brush, finger comb, spray with a tiny amount of water, and you should not end up with frizz. 💖
Happy New Year to you and yours! I had to laugh when you were changing the buttons on your store bought sweater/jumper, I seldom get around to it, but also don't reinforce them, so they end up falling off, only then do I change them. Lovely road to walk along.
Joining you in button sewing... On a wool coat after I spot clean it. Might even do a bit of embroidery around the cuffs to brighten it up. Thank you for the "time travel" walk. Lovely scarf & pendant! Happy New Year's to you and yours! 🎉
@@stanceymackenzie can totally relate to that! Our kelpie- staffie cross has short hair and it never ceases to amaze me that he is not completely bald with all the hair he sheds ! Happy New Year, happy sewing! I have been sorting out my sewing “ shed” and have a box of clothes to add pockets to/change the buttons/repair I one way or another!
Wishing you and yours a very Happy New Year, Constance. Thankyou for the Video. Your outfit is simply lovely. Did you knit your Scarflette and Beret / Tam as well? If so, do you have a pattern for it and where could I find it, please? I've been looking for a vintage knitted beret pattern, but so far, without success. Kindest Regards
Hello I am glad you liked the video. I did knit the scarf and hat, I am afraid the tam does not have a pattern. I actually started knitting something else that I did not like so turned it into a hat rather than starting again. The scarf is often called a Miss Marple scarf as one very similar was worn by the famous detective in some of the TV adaptations. I expect it was this patter that I used www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/missmarple-scarf

I have a lot of clothes I intend to change the buttons on so far not even close to doing them all but I will get there. Glad you enjoyed it.
Happy Year. Mine started with a migraine but I'm going to be reclaiming yarn so I can make crochet a cardigan for myself.

I'm going to be patching jeans today, too.
I hope your patch holds well. I have a mountain of other repairs. But I will sneak up on them gradually
Wishing you all a very Happy New Year, as well as a safe and healthy one!
Thank you very much.
Historybounding and a car generator. What's not to love?
I lose track of what was actually wrong it may have actually been a problem with fuel. I am glad you enjoyed it.
Always enjoy a stroll! It’s -38c here so I’m jealous. 🇨🇦
Goodness me its so mild today you would not know what to do. I am glad you could enjoy my stroll vicariously

Happy New Year. Definitely not a hair tutorial. Best wishes!

I sewed them on with double strong thread so I do hope they stay on.

Thats great, happy mending and thank you.
Happy New Year! I wish I could pet your dog. I had a dog with fur like that, and I miss her.
you would be very welcome to although with the amount of fur I hoovered up off the floor this week I wonder how he has any left on him.
