Looked in the Maxwell book. Did not find the mpc routine you use, Peter. On page 54 and 55 is the first mpc routine (1st Step and 2nd Step). First Step with descending wholenotes: 1 - 5 - 3 - 1 starting on C in staff and going down to the pedal register. The 2nd Step is going up from pedal C (1 - 3- 5 - 1) - to double high C.
I was introduced to Jimmy's book very early on middle school. I didn't have any one to guide me on the how or the why of those particular routines. At the time the book just felt way over my head. When I started playing again (after 20 years off) those routines became a central part of my daily practice. We are all so fortunate that there is so much more information out there about the different schools of thought when it concerns buzzing the mouthpiece, and free buzzing. I've since dispensed altogether with buzzing. I did some lead pipe playing a la Adams but I rarely do that now either. So, I wonder, why do you continue to buzz the mouthpiece ( even after your experience of working with Pandolfi). What does buzzing do for you? And what are the reasons for advocating others in this approach? Thank you,
