Sweden, iceland, norwegian i do not know who race this class but 15yrs ago when i watched this i was hooked! You guy's are insane crazyass people who do crazy thing's and i like it alot! Keep up the hill climbing and raceing i love it
Truely one of the greatest motor sports!!! Thanks for posting these. If you could post a short video about the gear, rules and scoring in English. Thanks again!
The Unlimited Class (startnumbers from 101) are using Bigger Digger or Super Scooper sandtires from Skat-Trak. The Modified Class (startnumbers from 201) are using PaddlaTrak or equal from Sand Tires Unlimited.
Very good video, the strength of these impressive off roads, I also have willys jeep, I know that engines are used in these amazing machines, whether they are 4, 6 or 8 cylinders, thank you. Greetings from Brazil.
You are correct. There is no substitute for cubic inches: Big V8s give you instant throttle response and torque...RIGHT NOW! :) Most of those engines sound N/A; superchargers give out a whining sound above the roar of the V8. However, I believe no.221, seen at about 14.41 IS a smaller turbo engine - you can hear the hiss - it sounds like a rally car!
What amazes me is how soft the sand is. Ok, this is Iceland, it's snowing, and the sand has to be wet to stack at this steep of an angle. These guys are almost sinking in to their differentials when they are OFF the throttle! It seems like they would run taller tires.
@250rider542 Thanks! Actually it was very difficult to film this because of the rain. I had plastic bag around my camera in some shots when there was pouring rain... Weird weather on that day...sometimes clear and sonny, sometimes rains hard and sometimes between..
This is suck a sick motorsport :D Take a few of these to those mud races in the US and show them how to get over that efficiently :P But that might be missing the point of the mud racing maybe? I'm not sure. It would be fun to see these drive in the snow in the mountains =)
They're offroad vehicles made of pure awesome, compacted into a solid form and carved by monks, put together by NASA and Driven by The Stig's Awesome offroad cousin. Oh, and they run on liquid rainbows.
hell yeah. He was smart enough to manage the dirt around his tires and knew it took commitment. The other drivers sucked so bad. I wish I had some bank to waste on one of these.
this looks like an awesome motorsport. we did this with beach buggy's but didn't think people competed. anyone know where lancelin is, in western australia? fun times ;)
Most AMERICANS in my county were driving manual transmission cars, trucks and tractors by age 7 and personally, I was 8, but i was, pulling wheelies with our tractors at age 10, and drifting our grain truck at age 12. I burned more fuel and raised more wheat, hay and cattle by adulthood than most european Families do in a lifetime, so good thing your little disclaimer said MOST americans
That's if you use a regular ABC dry chem and do not clean it off in 24 hours, or spend 55 bucks and buy a wet chemical that you wash off with water even weeks after with no adverse affects. The wet chem is designed for engine compartments hot or cold, all types of components and fuels/oils.

Sweet... I've loved this sport from a long distance for years... shame they dont have similar here in Australia!

That white Valvoline truck from about 3:29 is sick. That dudes got serious HP, tire RPM, and a great suspension. Dude knows how to use it too...

Really fun looking event. Good safety crews on site as well which is nice to see. Some hard running rigs. Cool video, thanks for posting.

It's a Special build car for this. Basically a frame with an V8, and special tyres to grip the loose gravel/sand.

Well filmed and well edited, awesome video.
I wonder if four-wheel steering would be any help on this kind of course?
if you look closely, the inside of the rim is spinning, but the outside rim is not.
i subscribed because this is what a youtube video should be.
no stupid ass music, no stupid ass intro, just straight video clips i like it

True Norwegian Black Metal and Formula Offroad, two extreme's from a wonderful country.

Do they pull sand back up to the top of the hill after these events? (So that there's a hill left for next event?)
hell yeah. He was smart enough to manage the dirt around his tires and knew it took commitment. The other drivers sucked so bad. I wish I had some bank to waste on one of these.

Hey, remember that time Canadian currency as was worth more than American? Or the British pound as well?

First car: Eh, you're overheating, dude.
Second car: Oops!
Third car: Stuck?
Fourth car: Man, you're crazy! (good job)
Fifth car: Forget the 4th one, you're a wild man!
Where can I find more information about this formula?
Those things are awesome...wish we had that in the USA
