- There are a total of 15 Knife Flight Aerial Challenges in GTA V.
Completing all of them is required for the "Close Shave" trophy or achievement and also counts towards 100% game completion.
TO UNLOCK "CLOSE SHAVE" YOU MUST ALSO COMPLETE ALL 50 Under the Bridges!!!

First off, get a fighter jet from Ford Zancudo. You can complete all 15 Knife Flights with it. Alternatively, you can also try to get a stunt airplane. They land at the airport in the desert from time to time. To learn how Knife Flights work you should visit the Flight School at Los Santos Airport. You might also want to max out the "Flying" statistic of one of your characters to have more control over your aircraft.
If your jet gets massively damaged, you can use the quick save and immediately reload the game. It will automatically be repaired when loading the save game. Also make use of quick save before attempting the harder Knife Flight Stunts.

Someone commented telling me to visit the Flight School.
"Visit the school as Trevor, and unlock/select the Loop the Loop challenge. As soon as you've gone through the checkpoint, you're free to ignore the task and fly around the city and do the flights. The beauty of this is that if you crash/fail, you can retry as many times as you like without losing money/planes."

@@TheGameO47 my best tip would just to be get them done, I did all the stunt jumps in one sitting and certain strangers and freaks missions don't appear unless you do certain things, so don't be afraid to look things up
Dunno if im late but you can slow down the jet by keeping the radio menu open until youre safe

Helpful hint: When he shows you the location of a stunt on the map, take a look at where his player icon is. It will help you figure out which way you need to be facing for each stunt. A lot of times I would go to the spot and have to circle around 10 times before I found the correct angle :p

So, for anyone new to this and yet to complete it, and are bitching about how "difficult" it is, try this in addition to what you see on the video.
1. A jet isn't necessary. If you're brave enough, a Mallard gets the job done just as easily.
2. On the subject of a Mallard, you can get one and get the job done during Flight School. Visit the school as Trevor, and unlock/select the Loop the Loop challenge. As soon as you've gone through the checkpoint, you're free to ignore the task and fly around the city and do the flights. The beauty of this is that if you crash/fail, you can retry as many times as you like without losing money/planes.
3. THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR PRACTICE. Don't give up easily, it will become quite natural after a while.

yeah go your phone n use the quick save option with any character, but best to use trevor n it'll reload where you quick saved it from.

The screenshot of me earning this trophy is of the 'wasted' screen as I crashed instantly right after getting 15/15. Sums up this trophy perfectly!

For the people who are just starting this or having trouble with it go to flight school you can do this in there. It gives you the stunt plane and you won't lose money. Make sure you have barrel roll unlocked.

Do the loop the loop tutorial and only go to the first checkpoint. You should have the rest of the time for knife flights. It cuts out that 2 minute loading screen speeding up this process!

I don't understand the hate
For anyone struggling with number 10, I thought it was a bit easier to do the opposite of what they did. So rotate the plane clockwise and start turning right after going through the buildings, as opposed to rotating the plane anticlockwise and turning left through the buildings. You seem to be able to keep flying just long enough for you to get the autosave before crashing.
Been trying for hours, used your method and got it first try. Thank you, you absolute saint. Lol
You can kinda cheat, when your going to do the knife flight, hold the change radio station button down and that will slow you down. It gave me more control. :)
I have 1 more to go (#2). I wish Franklin's special ability worked in aircraft too hahaha... thank you for the tip, I'm going to try it the next time I attempt this!

We just naturally associate the word "Knife", with another violent word, "fight" fits much better than "Flight".
I agree with most people, no. 8 was tricky but no. 10 really tested my patience! After around $50,000 in hospital fees and however many crashes later I finally managed to ace the damn thing, thanks for the upload and good luck to anyone else!

I was using IGN's interactive map and I got stuck at 14/15... Retried the flights multiple times and couldn't find the one I was missing. Then I decided to do a re-check using you video and I found the one I was missing. Thank you!

ChuckPalomo same here with every fucking thing I try to do. I even downloaded that app to track what I've done and it still never works out. I end up having to fucking go back and do everything till I find it

Thanks! Just did them all. #10 was by far the hardest. Quicksave was a blessing. Also I used the "Mallard" plane (only $250,000). Was easy fly since its slower and handles well and stealing the jet was next to impossible anyway.

Great!!! I've got them all! Thanks a lot for the video! A little piece of advice from me: use the Mallard plane instead, it's the same one you use during training in the flight school. I tried a few of the jets in the game but I found them to be too fast for their own good. They're just too touchy and hard to control at such high speeds. The Mallard on the other hand was way more stable. Hope that helps :)

If you keep failing on a particular knife flight, save before you do the flight, then you can just load again if you crash.

Just in case it helps anyone else...
What I did for these knife flights is go to flight school, do the "Loop the Loop". All you have to do is hit the first marker and it will let you fly as long as you want.
And if you crash but still make the knife at the same time, it might not let you know you got it. So check stats before you get too frustrated. *cough* #10 *cough*
How did you even get a fighter jet?. I've tried to get one but they army force always killed me in time before getting into the jet.
Sean Henderson So your comment is from yrs ago but if u didn't figure it out yet. Parachute from high and try to land on or next to the jet. Take off right away straight up over the mountains. U get it almost every time 😉

U can do this with any plane doesn't have to be a fighter jet
When you arrive the entrance of military base, you have to save the file, then get into the ramp and take a fighter jet, while you have to save the file immediately as long as you take off, if you have been killed then just reload the game.
u will die every time you try so don't try to get that aircraft at all

I have actually noticed that getting the fighter jet isn't necessary. I was able to complete 8 of these fairly easily with the stunt plane. It's slower so you get more time to correct, and it's handling is much better.

Used a Mallard and got each knife flight on my first try (died a couple of times immediately after though). Very easy and nowhere near as frustrating as people are making out, especially when compared to those stupid Stunt Jumps.
Are some people not realising they need to use the rudders to stay in the air when knife flying?

+Jiasd Dao yeah, a Malard is cheap, they are slower and have touchy controls but when you get used to them you can do just about anything.
2nd one is not registering for me. got platinum on this game for ps3 so i know how to do it and its the easiest one in the game more or less.. this one stupid knife flight and the private taxi fair are holding me up for plat on ps4... no calls coming from any of the business after weeks. anyone know of a fix for either of these??
i got it in the end. i just restarted the console and went through that knife flight a bit faster 10 or 20 times and it worked

Did you ever find out how to get your businesses to call you? I've played for countless hours as Franlin after I bought the taxi firm and they have never called me. It worked fine on the PS3.
***** i got it in the end yea, i restarted the game to do the after getting 100% on a new save and done the first 15or 20 missions again (can be done in 2 hours or so) untill i had to buy the taxi firm again and it popped up straight away, first business call. was a pain but had to be done

Finally got it, though I gotta be honest i just slammed through there with the stunt plane and exploded. Still got the achievement though...screw you rockstar games.
LambOfLucifer Fuck Rockstar in the ass as their Mexican AI would say ("fuck me in the ass" is pretty much all they say and they say it to everything) the requirements for 100% completion are kinda terrible, you need to collect 100 random fucking collectibles strewed about the entire bloody world (which is big as hell) which is boring as, well as boring as collecting 100 things that do absolutely nothing but sit there hiding in out of the way places. Then you need to complete all races and triathlons (the last one taking close to a full half hour to complete going at top speed, not sure who's idea it was to have the player tap a repeatedly for 30 fucking minutes straight) and the stupid ass stunt shit around the map most of which makes no sense, I find places that look like a perfect place for a knife flight and its not one yet there are the knife flights in this video that you could actually go through horizontally. Fuck Rockstar in the ass I say again.
I got my 100 percent completion soon after posting that comment, loved every minute of the game but some of the collectible missions are kinda pointless.

For #10, your plane needs to be considerably low. Just the wing of the plane doesn't cut it. I suggest to do this at the end, so that you don't have to recover the position of the plane. Let it crash and get the trophy.

Tony Stark I'd say that is the "Under the Bridge" challenge.
Because there is 50 of bridges to fly under.
And there is no way to tell which ones you already completed and which ones you haven't.
So if you're stuck at like 49, you have to backtrack the entire thing.
And even when you're backtracking and you fly under a bridge and you don't get the completion message, you might have done that bridge already, or you just touched the water or a wall or a ceiling or something.
Confusing, frustrating and time wasting.
I kind of liked the Knife Flights and Under the Bridge "collectibles", but I can't stand Unique Jumps.

Thanks man this guide helped a lot . I was pointing two point of interests one of the actual objective and the other from which direction you were heading from. I left the auto-save on lol I crashed in two of them and it still register lol oh well finally got the trophy thanks to you.
