Yeah, Dave might be an asshat, but he's a talanted asshat. Which I can't say for those two. Also, he writes songs that are about interesting topics, instead of just being egotrips about his problem with his haters or his girlfriend.

Megadeth is not for people who looking for hits or beautiful song, Megadeth is for people who already into Megadeth, because once you get into Megadeth, their songs never boring.
Tbh I started to listen Megadeth recently and I think they have some beutiful songs here and there (but I can confirm, once into Megadeth you don't want to listen to anything else, lol)
Early Megadeth guitar playing is very unique, almost jazzy in the way the riffs are written and played. I heard someone say that Dave Mustaine had a very backwards style of guitar playing. His playing is completely his own

It's the hardcore roots. I was a punk rock/hardcore kid in the mid '80s and was not a huge Metallica or Megadeth fan. It was too melodic, too metal for me. I much preferred Slayer and Anthrax.

Megadeth has been my favorite band for 30 years. Why? The insane musicianship yes, but also very simply they have way more songs I like than any other band I’ve ever heard. RIP is my favorite album of all time.

Dave Mustaine is very Intelligent. I don't think he gives a rats ass about being kicked out of Metallica, but he knows that him staying in the mix of Metallica gossip keeps the eyes on him imo. It's a smart marketing move really.
Please, there is way too much evidence to the contrary. That shit will never stop bothering him completely. He has mostly moved on these days though. Honestly, I get it. Yes, the money is great by itself, but it also come down to legacy. Metallica has albums like Master Of Puppets that are often cited as possibly the greatest metal album of all time. Rust In Peace is up there as well, but there are levels to this.
Megadeth just makes me happy, i enjoy their music and the band. I can never get bored of it.

I can tell you why I like Megadeth. The song "Sudden Death" that was on Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. Played it when I was a kid and then listened to the album that song came from after that, and I liked the album as well so that was that. Prolly their youngest fan as a 23yo but hey what's wrong with that? 🤷♀ im not crazy about Thrash but it has its charms especially if you consider the nostalgic factor, as I grew up listening to metal with my dad and the older men in my family. I'm more into Metalcore personally, but Megadeth is something I can listen to with some of the older people in my circles since they usually don't like the screaming stuff that I'm into, but with Megadeth we can both jam. Usually those older guys are really into Metallica, but for some reason Metallica just doesn't click for me. I want something a little more edgy. So, Megadeth is the perfect middle ground with Dave's raspy voice and the crazy guitar playing they do which is a little more gainy than Metallica's more clean sounding tone, at least in my opinion. Pantera is also a good one. But Megadeth is always my go to as it's the perfect middle ground for me.

Why I like Megadeth? Their sound isn't anything I've heard. I can hear a few notes and instantly know it's megadeth. It's like hearing ZZ Top or AC/DC. You just know it. Rather it's Holy Wars or Angry Again, or Symphony. I've seen them play Chrush' Em, Angry Again, and 99 Ways to Die accoustically live in a smaller bar outside St. louis, Mo. 2 weeks after 9/11. Best concert I've seen.
Megadeth has great songs, that’s why they’re so popular. But they have more elements from traditional metal and rock than most thrash bands, I posit that is why you don’t like them.
There is not a reason to compare Megadeth with Metallica because Metallica are not even metal band, is pop band who any brainless people can hear it. People like Megadeth because they are great musicians and they are a very big school to learn things and challenge yourself especially if you are musician and you playing a guitar/bass or drums. Or any other musical instrument by listen and play a Megadeth song for sure you will learn and get something. Metallica are not musicians. You don't need even sheet music or tabs to play a Metallica song. You just play them easily by listen them because they are easy and worthless songs, and the whole Metallica music is worthless but are popular because they are catchy. Btw Mustaine was not in Metallica, Metallica was in Mustaine, and you can clearly see it by listen to Metallica kill em all and Megadeth killing is my business albums, you can clearly hear that was the Mustaine who force them to play some real music.

It's a very very simple answer.
Megadeth's - "Rust in Peace" is without a doubt the Greatest Metal Album ever created musicianship wise.
Musicians and Guitar players mostly agree on this, especially for an album back in 1990.
Metallica - "Black Album" 100% best production metal album ever and writing.
I heard Slayer live at the Big 4 Concert at Yankee stadium with Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax..,
Slayer without a doubt sounded the worst Live of the four bands, I was upset cause I was really looking forward to them.

I think you should do a video on Megadeth. They're successful because they've excelled at many of the things that you talk about in your videos. Why else would a boomer metal act with a terrible singer still be able to play stadiums and still attract young fans in 2023?

Dave is a vocalist. The only real “singers” in Metal are Dio, Halford, Dickinson, and Tate. I don’t need anyone else in Metal to “sing”. Megadeth’s music is so damn incredible, I’m very cool with Dave’s snarly ass vocals, real shit. I pity anyone that foolishly skips Megadeth’s music due to lack of pretty vocals 😳

When I first got Rust In Peace on cassette, I didn't listen to the rest of the album until days later because I couldn't stop listening to Holy Wars. Scientifically perfect technical thrash guitars!

To me, Megadeth doesn't sound very heavy. They sound more like early '80s pre-thrash metal. Nothing wrong with that. They do have some interesting compositions but overall, I can't really get in to them.

Dave Mustaine is the most overrated front man in metal. His voice is terrible, even worse live, his stage presence sucks, his lyrics suck, he's cringey as fuck, especially when he shits on Metallica. He definitely shreds on guitar, but that doesn't even come close to justifying his over blown ego. He's always gonna be bitter about being kicked out of Metallica & he absolutely deserved it. I love Rust in piece & So far so good so what & say what you want about 90's Metallica, there was a few good songs here & there, but every single song back to back from Hit the lights to Dyers eve, is an absolute banger! Metallica has always had better riffs, better lyrics & incredible live.

I started with Metallica when I stole the Ride the Lightning cassette from a bully back in '91. Loved them.
Listened to Megadeth for the first time around '93. It was Peace Sells album. I wasn't ready for that sound. Following year in 94 they released Youthanasia and I loved it. Went through their back catalog and it clicked for me. Been a fan ever since. And whats more, I was/am a Diehard Megadeth fan.
For decades I'd only listen to Megadeth and absolutely refuse to acknowledge Metallica and never check out their newer albums.
Recently i thought to my self, why am I doing that? Why limit myself. Just because I listen to Megadeth doesn't mean I can't enjoy Metallica like I once did.
Went out and actually bought the Metallica albums I was missing (about 7-8 in total) and loved it. I even loved St. Anger which apparently everyone hates. Don't care what anyone says, Death Magnetic is fantastic and reminds me of the bands early thrashier days.
All I'm saying is, don't do what I did. Don't limit yourself to just one of the bands. The fact of the matter is, fans of either band are very lucky that both bands are still very much active. Releasing new albums and touring.
That won't last forever.

I like Megadeth I don’t care for the new stuff. I purchase three albums. Peace sells, rust in peace and count down extinction. I think their done and it’s run it’s course. Same goes for Metallica and I honestly only listen to kill’em all and ride the lightning and justice for all. they are both done. I’m okay with that… kind of like the San Diego Chargers I won’t miss them.
i feel like Megadeath fans are metal equivalents of Karens. Like the level of mistrust to anything scientifically legit or just plain desire to be off grid (smart ass). Dont want to offend anybody , just like it seems from the outside, from a poser part time metal enjoyer. But above all, if someone like somethings thats theirs business and it speaks to them, thats important. As example Slayer is legendary, but for me vocals are kind of mid comparing to stuff i enjoy more. Same with Pantera.
