    Tremendous footage! That's how I remember freight trains from when I was a kid in the late fifties-early sixties, always with the caboose at the end.

      I think the last cabooses I remember seeing was around 1987. The details are foggy.

    Nice video. I just finished ready my three books about the Lehigh Valley. Nice to see some of the classic diesels in operation.

    I'd love to see film of LV in Ithaca. When I work at Cornell in the '60s, I had an older coworker who mentioned that she used to take the LV to school when she was a Cornell student. When I was there, the station had become a fine restaurant.

      As a child my parents put me on the Black Diamond in South Plainfield so I could visit my Grandmother in Bethlehem. What a sight as we went right by the steel-making furnaces!!

      Both Lehigh Valley and Erie Lackawanna used PAs in freight service.

    That last consist is a doozy. A switch engine, TWO cabooses, and a high-and-wide something. Section of a grain silo? A length of pre-fab tunnel?
    When Conrail took over in 1976, a lot of the RR damage from Hurricane Agnes (June, 1972) in central PA, including on the LV system, was never repaired.

    Forgive me if I've asked before, but what is your setup for film to video?

    • @fmnut
      @fmnut  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Wolverine Pro version 3. Creates .mp4 files on an SD card. Upload to my computer then process for frame rate, stabilization and color correction using Movavi Converter to .AVI files. Then edit with Pinnacle Studio 15.

    Don't think I've ever seen diesels going 60-65mph like that! See what happens when you take the parking brake off!!! :^D

    No graffiti on any of the box cars. This can't be real.
