2016 Toyota Corolla Push To Start Manual Transmission Remote Car Starter

  • A Compustar Pro T11 remote car starter installed by the professionals at Sweet Sounds, Mankato, MN. Also known as a RF-P2wT11-SS.
    After another shop attempted to install a remote start into this vehicle and failed, the clients brought it to the expert technicians at Sweet Sounds to get it done right.
    While Sweet Sounds has installed hundreds of remote starts into manual transmission vehicles, Push To Start manual transmission vehicles are still somewhat rare and require special procedures to install a system, especially to keep a client from locking themselves out of the vehicle.
    You can trust the experts at Sweet Sounds to get it done right.

      Having to restart the vehicle has to do with the technical nature of transferring control of the vehicle from the interface module of the remote start to the anti theft system built into the car. While it may not be ideal, it keeps the car safer (from being stolen) and fortunately just pressing the button on the dashboard is a pretty easy thing to do after entering the vehicle.

    I just bought a 2016 Corolla S and will get it in a day or two. I was going to put the T12 pro in it. However, my S version is not with a push button. And speaking about start button. After remote start, if we press the brake pedal the engine stop if the key is not at on. But how does it work with the push button? We need to depress the brake pedal to shift.

  • @zafarabbas3222
    @zafarabbas3222 7 ปีที่แล้ว +18

    So you're telling that engine stops when one opens the door. So what is the purpose of starting the engines with the remote without sitting?😏

    • @SweetSounds
      @SweetSounds  7 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      To warm up or cool down the interior. Especially useful when it's -20°F (-29°C).

    • @carbrickscity
      @carbrickscity 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not to mention you can't remote start when the car is in gear.

    • @SweetSounds
      @SweetSounds  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      That is correct. That is the point of going through the reservation procedure to verify the vehicle is left out of gear so it can be safely remote started at a later time. Again, the point of a REMOTE start is to start up the vehicle REMOTELY, as in, from a distance, so the interior can be comfortable when you get to the vehicle to drive it at a later time.

    I have a 2014 Dodge dart GT with a 6speed manual & push start button. I got this same system put in my car & even added the drone module to control with my cellphone from anywhere in the world, they even setup my factory fob to the remote start. My car doesn't turn off when I remote start. When I remote start, all I have to do is push on my brake when I get in & when I get out, I have to leave the car running, push lock 3× close the door & it will reactivate & then the car will turn off + lock it self, all this within seconds. Since the car is manual they do that for safety.

    • @SweetSounds
      @SweetSounds  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, that is normal. The Chrysler & Dodge vehicles have what the manufacturer calls a "secure takeover" feature. Secure takeover allows the car to stay running and remain secure from theft. Secure takeover wasn't an option on this vehicle when this was installed. Most brands of cars allow secure takeover.

    • @SweetSounds
      @SweetSounds  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry, no. I would check in with the original installation facility if you haven't already. There's usually a couple of wire connections for the parking lights & auto lights, it would make sense to begin troubleshooting there.

    • @SweetSounds
      @SweetSounds  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Jess, sorry to hear of your troubles. Unfortunately, as you've found out the hard way, a remote start in a manual transmission vehicle is not an beginner level job. My best recommendation is to check on the Compustar dealer locator here: www.compustar.com/find-a-dealer/ enter your zip code, check mark the PRO box and keep increasing the search radius until you locate a dealer who is confident they can perform what you are asking of them. Generally the PRO dealers are the best in the business but honestly not all of them will want to take on your project. We used a Compustar controller & RF kit along with an ADS interface module which is most often the best combination available for manual transmission cars. Finding a tech with extensive experience and advanced troubleshooting skills is highly recommended but unfortunately there is no real database to find these folks. If you let me know your zip code I may be able to get you a recommendation. Lastly, don't hide anything from the folks you're calling, the more info you get them the better they can serve you.

    @Sweet Sounds, does this system control the climate system? For example, it's a very snowy day and I need to turn on my front & rear window defroster to melt the ice/snow off. Can this system do this remotely without me needing to enter the car? (As you know, most rear defrosters can not be left on by default when leaving the car as it is on a timer) So that is why I am asking if this system can control the climate & defrosters at all?

    • @SweetSounds
      @SweetSounds  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You will need to leave the HVAC controls set to your desired operation when you exit the vehicle. The system does not change the setting upon remote starting.

      Answer: No. What a shame to avoid answering such an easy question.

    • @SweetSounds
      @SweetSounds  6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      A shame, no. Unfortunately CarBricksCity, your answer is incorrect. If someone intentionally or accidentally overrode the safety features built into the reservation sequence then yes, it could be started in gear. The DAS sensor is designed as a fail safe in this circumstance, thus the link to an informative article and video to answer the question. Thanks for trying to help out though.

    • @carbrickscity
      @carbrickscity 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Sweet Sounds what a terrible response. First, how is my answer incorrect? Do u even know how manual works? If u can remote start the car while in 1st gear, the car will launch forward & most likely stall immediately. Second, why didnt u just reply with a simple yes or no in the first place? Imagine a customer ask u a simple yes or no question & u said, ok read the article yourself. Good luck with that lol

    • @SweetSounds
      @SweetSounds  6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Having worked in this field for 25 years, I have learned to provide detailed responses to give a person all the information. A simple yes or no does not suffice to answer the original question. In person, I would explain what could be read in the article.
      And no, a car will NOT most likely stall. I'd suggest you perform some real world tests. I have performed inspections for insurance companies where a system that was not installed properly allowed the car to start in gear and the vehicle would just keep on driving away. It required pressing on the brake pedal to then disengage the system to shut down the vehicle. Again, the DAS sensor provides a failsafe for this situation.
      If you want to help the community, please feel free to contribute but if your responses are derogatory, please find some other place to post. Thanks.

    Doesn't it defeat the purpose to have to restart it after you've already remote started it? At this point I feel like it's just a waste of money

    • @SweetSounds
      @SweetSounds  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      None of our customers buy a remote start with the intention of it saving them the 2 seconds it takes to push a button to start the vehicle. So, what is the point of a REMOTE start? The point of a REMOTE start is so you can warm up (or cool down) your car REMOTELY from a mile away when it's -15F degrees outside so it's comfortable to drive when you arrive at the car! If you want to know the technical nature as to why the shutdown occurs, you can read the comments previously posted. We will continue to install remote car starter systems that keep the car secure. We don't take shortcuts. Thank you.

    • @SweetSounds
      @SweetSounds  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! The EZ-GO system (assuming that's what your describing) is designed to automatically lock your doors when you walk away and unlock when you arrive back to your car. It doesn't have anything to do with the engine running / not running. I would not recommend it in combination with a remote start on a manual transmission vehicle with push to start.

I like the old remote start alarm 15 yeara ago because i have it for 15 years now and it still works like a charm compare to Compustar and Viper always fails that what I heard. But it is true Compustar and Viper always fails in 3 or 5 years. My old remote start alarm with shock/tilt and motion sensor still works and it is way better than Compustar and Viper. My range can goes up to 4000 feets or more.
