@@carcaveofficial Yes, agree. If you have a targa, you get the open top motoring, 👍 but you also get the scuttle through the steering and more understeer. I found that to be very frustrating; it’s always there and it diminishes from the experience. You can geo out the understeer, but there’s nothing you can do about the shake. Owners have tried bracing, but all it does is stiffens the parts that weren’t really flexing. It’s a shame they couldn’t have made a t-bar version. It may have worked better.
I 100% think the NSX is worth it for all the reasons mentioned in the video. This black car is a stunning example of one. I know the new owner will be very happy. Thanks for the video.
A very excellent done presentation for all NA / NA2 NSX's and about this vehicle itself !!! 👏👏👏 Now about the beginning sales figures and the drop off a few years later. I believe it was due to other competitors continuing to increase horsepower immensely (30 - 100+ H.P.), and Honda / Acura did only a one-time puny 20 horsepower increase 🤦♂️ To rich buyers of exotics, horsepower gives them impressive bragging rights, and NOT the driving exhilaration feeling 🤷♂️ So that's my story and I'm sticking to it !!! 💪😎
Appreciate the kind words mate, thanks for sharing your thoughts! Honestly it could be a combination of a bunch of stuff, but at the end of the day, I think the NSX is brilliant, and I just wish it was more attainable...
The car reviewed in this video has a Comptech supercharger installed. It gives roughly 80 horsepower and does make the car much quicker. It was about a $10K in cost and Honda did work with Comptech in the development. I know several owners who have them on their cars and the reliability is pretty much retained.
Right on target when you said the NSX is a driver's car. No touchscreens, no bluetooth, no gimics. Just a pure driving experience. I've owned my NSX for 15 yrs & it is still as much fun today as it was the day I bought it. Are these cars worth $120-200K? Probably not, but to the right buyer - oh yeah!
I got an NSX after selling my Countach. Loved it; so easy to live with, but no power. Bought a Gallardo after that and would never go back to an underpowered car. Brute force is the point of a supercar. I expect sales dropped when the competition learned their quality/useability lesson and vastly outstripped the NSX in power.
The Gallardo was such a great car, and honestly still is. In my opinion, the golden era for supercars where they were drivable, and hadn't yet been choked up by all the emissions regulations

Black looks fantastic. The wheel work really well. If only it was a coupe.
It's the best of both worlds, Targa's are magnificent...
Preference I guess; I love open top motoring, but I prefer the rigidity of the coupe.
To each his own!

Crazy how a few years ago, you could get one in the $20k-range. I missed my chance!!!
We all missed it....
I had a version 2 2001 model in silver with a targa top and toured the South of France. Fabulous.
That sounds like a movie

Appreciate the comment mate, I agree, whoever is fortunate enough to grab that NSX won't regret it
Ive had a mk4 supra, 3000 gt, and currently have rx7 fd as a weekend driver, but a 90s NSX my dream car
I had a mk3 supra and second gen MR2, NSX was always the dream for me as well.
Gtr?
You cant beat a Black NSX. Oooowwwiiiieeee!
I could clearly hear the end of your comment in my head
Having bought a 91 RHD a few months ago, I can confidently say
Hell yes.
Sickkkkkkkkk, what color? Manual?
@@carcaveofficial kaiser silver, AT
BUT I will convert to MT...when I get more money :)
Silver NSX look so good.....shows off the curves perfectly...
@@carcaveofficial I agree! But i'm really thinking of doing a dark dark green later. Full repaint.
With a brown interior?

@@carcaveofficial Yeah I understand 🤷♂️ Bought mine new in 2002 and still own it today 😎
2002? You have the fixed headlight version? NICE!
@@carcaveofficial Yes fixed headlights, and arguably the rarest factory color ~ 'Imola Orange Pearl'. Before 2002, NEVER an orange NSX Acura 😎
I don't think I have ever seen that color in person....
Still saving for one myself. Lucky to purchase the other JDM hero cars from each brand over 10 years ago when they were alot cheaper.
GTR? MkIV Supra? FD Rx7?
@@carcaveofficial Evo 6.5, Sti 2door, Celica ST205 GT4, R34 GTR, Pulsar GTiR, Pajero Evo :)
Geez....that is a hell of a collection
Legendary NSX! Still want to collect one to this day.
You still can!
the show you mentioned was Best Motoring / Hot Version. They also had an awesome cat and mouse races on a togue.
That sounds familiar, thanks for that mate!

That is good to know! I didn't get to drive it, but I did ride in it and it felt pretty quick!
Honda made a mistake to not develop the second gen based on this identical design that’s so timeless and so good for its own like a Porsche 911.
Agreed. A NA V6 with 400 HP and a manual option, for $70-90k would have been much better received

Knowing what you know about the car now, having owned it for 15 years. Would you still buy it at $100k?
Yes, but only for a pristine time capsule car. The only downside is that parts are getting harder & harder to find.
If only Honda / Acura started a 'classic parts' department to offer support...

It will be worth it in 2224 as well.
Timeless classic .
The NSX-R always won. It only has 1250 kg and better final drive ratio. I hope i can get my 1991 NA1 under 1250 kg without loosing AC or the Radio.
That would be quite an achievement...

That sounds freaking awesome. Do you have a photo of it anywhere? I'd love to see it!
It did not have power steering. Only the automatic model did in 1991
Good to know, thanks for the correction mate
