Annie Nightingale's passing reminded me to revisit the SOM. The only time i had a request played on the radio was by Annie on her request show which from memory was on Sunday evening when i was lounging in the bathtub. I spent so long listening to Annie's show, i came out of the bath more wrinkled than i am now 40 years later.
What a great, rather rare, unpolished version of the album, I really like the songs in this version much better than they were in the later versions..., great that you share this with us, I've been listening for a good 35 years Mercys and I hadn't heard these versions until today, thank you very much from Germany! Sorry, but i will copie it for my private collection! Thanks!!! 👍

Good stuff. As a hobby musician i often lay guide vox together with the all the rest so we know where we are. Sometimes i lay out temporary guitars or other instruments as guidance, to later be replaced by tighter and better played tracks. I never love hearing guide tracks i make myself, as there is always somewhat halfhearted effort knowing they wont be in the end mix.

It's, well, fascinating, if not musically the best. Is any of this material is available as mp3 or CD anywhere? Thanks so much for compiling it.
The version of SKOS you mention is on the 2006 Remastered CD issued by Rhino. www.discogs.com/release/832989-The-Sisters-Of-Mercy-First-And-Last-And-Always (the release is not recommended for 'good' sound though). Most other tracks are from very rare vinyl sources, though can now be found on dodgy CDs.

you could use vlc to rip it from yt and then convert it to mp3 may not sound the best tho
