It's unfortunate that Rick was known mostly for being a teen idol and soap opera star in the '80s because he really deserves more respect as a songwriter and musician. Sure, he had the male model looks, but he wasn't just a pretty boy. He wrote songs with great hooks and was a dynamic live performer (gotta love those high kicks). He's still great live.
My first concert was rick in 1983 during the living in oz tour which was a great show in june at the meadowlands in NJ..i was in the 6th grade lol....i still have his program and shirt from that tour....I saw him in toms river nj at the poland spring arena on valentines day.... through my persistence i was able to contact the people who were running the show and tried getting myself and 3 other people backstage passes but was only able to get one and i finally was able to meet him and the band backstage..rick signed the 2 programs i brought with me ( the living in oz) and also had my pic with him as well...... he was really cool as was the rest of the band Roger Carter was a really down to earth guy.....Rick was actually the reason i started playing guitar in middle school years after seeing the fender strat in the affair of the heart video.....still one of my favorite songs and videos of his
That is Larrie London, a longtime session drummer. He is also credited with playing drums for Journey on the album “Raised on Radio,” and the subsequent live tour. Sadly he passed away in 1992.
Great concert video from 1985 & my fav from Springfield. It's also cool that this was directed by David Fincher who is now famous for films like: Seven, Zodiac & Gone Girl.
Nope - It's Mike Baird (not Byrd), and he is alive and well... he was Journey's touring drummer on their Raised on Radio tour from '86-'87. You're likely thinking of Larrie Londin, who played most of the drums on the RoR studio album. Larrie passed away in the early 90's.
Just missed him on July 27th❤I think this song is my favorite 😍hard to believe he just turned 74 on August 23,2023🥳 thanks for sharing this video ✌️💖🤩

Oh, he has come along way! The year is 2022 has he rocks.
Nine years later from your post he is an American icon.
Not in the year 2022. Those teens are now women.
Nobody can sing this song like Rick Springfield. It's been try but it's not the same.
Rick is a genuinely nice fellow, very talented, and still handsome as hell. I will always love him.
Respect to the drummer he made the song even more better
Amazing love it ❤️🔥💯💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻❤️🔥🎵🥰
6 Feb 2022 still enjoying this 80s hit in the high school.
It's so nice to see him playing without the tattoos and piercings so many of the musicians have today.
This song works since 35 years ❤🥰 great track! Love it 😊 👍 🥰
I miss the 89s
I have listen to Rick Springfield since 80's and he can still rock. He doesn't get the credit he desires.

So overlooked
The Drummer is the late Mike Byrd, he also played with Journey in 1986.
一度でもいいから彼のコンサート行きたかったなぁ〜🥰
one person never loved somebody :( it's so sad.......but rick is the best
He was positively huge. The drummer was earning his pay that night... playing hard.
Rick's the man, Classic tune! Is it just me or is that drummer's slammin'!
