I love how at the end of the tree trail run all of you took a different line.
August is really starting to lean into it, and is doing amazingly. Looking uphill when coming into the groomed trails, squaring his shoulders to the downhill side, and having the casual upright stance in the slower sections that comes with time and confidence. He is growing into an incredible skier.
Luca is just like my kid brother at that age, alternating sitting on his heels when he's nervous and leaning into it when he's feeling confident. Something that helped my brother get past that was telling him to punch his hands forward (and/or downhill) when he's nervous. It got him back onto his toes and in better control.
Adia is so much fun to watch skiing, the little coaching moments that have with her is what I plan on using to model my own coaching for my granddaughter's next year.

Be careful throwing around the “one more” bad things are known to happen after it’s said.
Why is powder not good to ski on ? I've never skied and don't know. I thought tht would be perfect.
Great powder is dry and fluffy. When the snow is wetter and/or the wind has beaten down the snow, it is dense and sticky instead of soft, better for snowball fights 😊. Without grooming (machine tamped down to a corduroy texture) it is challenging and unpredictable.
Sticky snow grabs your skies.
It's grabby. Better than icy surface but if you fall in powder snow you are less likely to get hurt.
Mountain and snow conditions are always dynamic and varied! Most times, any fresh snow increases the quality of skiing for those who enjoy “off piste.” Powder skiing is a bit harder to master and some skiers just about it and prefer the machine groomed runs. Today this powder was the kind that was extra challenging to ski! Lower angle, in the trees and protected spots still in led provided nice fresh lines - but it's isolated and not consistent!
Do you ever listen to music or is that too dangerous?
We don't do it. Some do! It will reduce awareness of others somewhat!
@@ThatMountainLife Yeah, I don't listen to music when out an about (walking, biking). I don't like losing that early warning of something happening around me. Even in downtown Toronto, I try to walk facing traffic as much as I can.
Way to modify the plan for mountain fun!! Love the kids’ attitudes, even when things go wrong. This is why helmets are necessary to protect the brain😮!!
Btw, you can get a closed head injury with a high quality helmet and high intensity skiing (happened to my ski racing son during practice in high school and, while he’s fine 12 years later, the experience, early sequllae, and rehab ended his interest in skiing. That broken helmet and my husband’s from a bike accident in which he broke his neck stand as testament to safety first and risk acceptance in sport. Both are well and still enjoy sport - more so as spectators these days. 😂❤
The boys have good control cause they never crashed into Adia when following her, very impressive.
The powders tricky but it awesome how they don’t give up and keep pushing
