It wouldn't have stopped a tank shell and, even if it did stop it from penetrating, it was High Explosive and the vehicle would've gone up in flames. There's no way the Royal Navy just spent £100,000+ shooting a shell for The Grand Tour. It was likely just packed explosives inside the vehicle itself.

The AMG G63 6x6 they reviewed years ago, would be the best non-military zombie apocalypse vehicle. It might not provide as much space on the inside, but for just getting from a to b safely, and basically unstoppable by any terrain, and still being able to go reasonably fast, since it still has an AMG engine, it sure would be the most reliable and safe way to move around in such situations.
My grandfather’s brother served as a first lieutenant in a CRVT (scimitar in this video) unit. They did the recon and command of a unit of Leopard 1 tanks for the Belgian army. The lifetime of their CRVT tank in combat was estimated at 10mins if the cold war was to turn into a hot one. This light tank, with its jaguar engine proved to be a lot of fun when they went training in Germany. It was quite fast (85kph I think) and they roared across the autobahn in these 😂 But even tho it had a 30mm cannon that would do well against light vehicles and infantry it would NOT stand a chance against a T72 lol He is a very lively man in his late 60’s now, great sense of humour and plenty of stories to tell!!
