And this about wraps up my look into Deltarune until future chapters drop! This was so much fun to do and I hope to return to talking about Undertale/Deltarune as soon as possible! (P.S: I'm trying to reach 1k subs by the end of January so if y'all can help out with that, that'd be awesome.)
I think Dess never actually died, but went missing. Noelle is still constantly searching for her online, according to her room in the mansion. The four of them liked to explore creepy places when they were younger. And the kids at the bunker imply Kris knows about what's in there. I wouldn't be surprised if there was somehow a dark world in there, or somewhere else, that Dess has been trapped in this whole time. I think she has the potential to become a very important character in future chapters.
Oh yeah it is very possible that Dess only went missing. I think it's just safe to say is that she's no longer with her family in a way that's negatively affected Noelle.
Stupid thing to support this theory: Snow grave: removing s and w from the word is . This can hint that dess is missing since she doesn't have any grave
Something worth mentioning about Ralsei hiding information, in both chapters Ralsei sends the player away to focus on something Susie is doing and when we cut back to him and Kris we see him explaining something to Kris and then immediately stop. And in chapter 2 when he tries to send the player away, the player can refuse (and in snowgrave there's no choice it just doesn't happen) and Raslei doesn't say anything and just waits for Susie to come back (he even asks Susie to explain what happened, possibly hoping for a flashback to make us go away). So Ralsei is specifically trying to hide information from the player, not Kris. And whatever he's trying to do Kris is a part of My theory is that he's trying to help Kris escape the player's control, possibly opening and closing dark fountains will let Kris survive without the soul. And the moment after the Spamton fight where Ralsei tries to very forcibly calm Kris down is an attempt to stop us from catching on that they're aware of being under our control.
I love that ! Although coming back to his intervention right after Spamton's fight. I did find it weird that he would try to brush off Susie's interrogations about puppet strings and such as "just a malfunctioning program". It seemed to me he's also holding back information from Kris and Susie. But then again it could be to do just as you say, to avoid specifically the player's suspicion about the characters finding out they're being controlled.
@@Sera-F1nn honestly tho Ralsei IS right, Spamton is pretty glitchy so it’d make sense for him to assume he’s just a corrupted program. I don’t think he’s trying to hide anything in that scene, i think he’s just trying to help Kris and Susie
It kinda makes sense considering Ralsei is apart of Kris loosely, being the horns Kris wore in their childhood . But what about Kris's dislike towards Ralsei then ?
Oh yeah Kris is a pretty prankish kid but I'm just not sure if they would entirely want to step off the button when Noelle was so close to it. I could believe them saying they'd need a treat to behave though lol
@@EDsCorner in chapter 1, Noelle's dad mentions that noelle was scared of humans under her bed. He then says that it wasn't nice of Kris to have been hiding under there. So Kris HAS pranked noelle
@@EDsCorner when you talk to noelle when shes at the big fence she says that kris has told her that the ice cube mascot thing eats children. i think it was at the end of chapter one
Ralsei is hiding something for sure, but I don't think he is a villain A fight would be much more emotional if he constantly scolds the player for what they've done Instead of pulling the "I never cared for you" card
Yeah I think shattering that connection you had with him and having it all be a lie would be really lame for me but I can see some sort of emotional conflict happening.
I honestly think Toby could do better than just that overused "the hero is actually a villain" twist. It's not even a twist in the game community anymore, it's just an overused concept. Toby would make Ralsei have a secret like Alphys' in Undertale, something that'll let out a lot of lore, but not specifically being an evil position. Also this fandom doesn't make any sense They love Ralsei but expect him to betray us (and Kris) at some point Like what-
I like to think that there will be more methods to killing enemies in the future. Why the chapter 2 enemies are killed by being frozen is because they are software, which means they just freeze and crash.
I can't really find anywhere else to say this so i'll say it here....Deltarune has completely eaten up my life. Every day i wake up, i think of Deltarune. Anytime i see a banana, i think of Deltarune. Most of the conversations i have woth my little brother (who is also a big fan of Deltarune) are about deltarune. And not to mention i love every. single. little. aspect. of deltarune. the characters, the music, the art, i just cant not talk about Deltarune. a large majority of videos i watch on youtube currently, are Deltarune. Never in my entire life has a peice of media swallowed me whole like this. Never in my entire internet career have i been so obsessed woth peice of media. No other game i have been obsessed with has roped me in for two. whole. months. and wont let me go. But, i have accepted my Deltarune addiction as apart of life. This year was a good fandom year for me (as i got into a lot of fandoms or fell deep into fandoms i was already in) but Deltarune has swallowed me up like no other fandom, or game i got into this year. So, conclusion? i don't think i will be out of the Deltarune abyss any time soon. (Thank you for reading my stupid comment if you read all of it btw)
I certainly know how that feels. Maybe not to the same degree but that was the case for me with other games and series in the past. Eventually though it does just become a part of your life instead of taking it all over but man that it can be really fun having that passion be so high.
I just have to say this about Ralsei. Because i have yet to see ANYONE talk about that and it drives me crazy !!! On the topic of Ralsei being... somewhat weird. I can't help but notice how other than by Kris and Susie, arguably the two protagonists, he is hardly noticed by anyone EVER. And it is especially obvious (and REALLY weird) when it comes to Noelle. They didn't interact at ALL during the chapter, it feels like she barely notices his existence. This is even more reinforced by those lines i didn't even see before this video : when you give Noelle the Ralsei tea, she replies "There's nothing in here !" Why is this ? Why doesn't she react more to him ? Especially since he should definitely remind her of Asriel. This isn't just Noelle though. Except for when Ralsei directly talks to other characters, NO ONE interacts with him. The Queen doesn't even mention him in her goodbyes, for example. And there's more ! Not only do other people not react to him, he also... doesn't impact the narrative much, does he ? His character is uniquely static among the others, especially playable characters. He doesn't react to different playstyles (FIGHT vs. ACT) AT ALL, and barely reacts to the Snowgrave route either. (Also i'm rambling about what comes to my mind but he just accepts being Queen's butlers without doing anything to try and save the others.) Now that i think about it, one of the very few times he's taking any kind of initiative is 1, to talk about the prophecy (multiple times), and 2, and this one is really ominous, to talk to Kris behind the player's back. In this situation, he displays a surreal awareness about the fact that we are *supposed* to see Susie's perspective at that point, and he takes advantage of that to say things to Kris. Doesn't he even come up with some kind of plan with them in Chapter 1 ??? There's a lot to speculate about Ralsei in those 2 chapters alone. I really don't think he'll be some kind of evil villain though. That'd be so lame.
It really is strange how he's not really acknowledged by characters that aren't Susie and Kris. Noelle only takes notice of him one time and she doesn't even finish that thought. It makes me wonder about how real Ralsei technically is. Like if he's some unique kind of cognitive creation from the Dark World. I remember a friend of mine having an idea they they were formed from memories Kris has of their brother. A lot of interesting ways to take interpreting Ralsei
@@punkipatchmusic "Except for when Ralsei directly talks to other characters". You're right ! He's not, like, litteraly inexistent to the others, and i'm really not trying to push some kind of theory that he is a figment of Kris and Susie's imagination or whatever. But he is bizarrely ignored. There is also the time when Queen imprisons everyone in her cages... except for Ralsei. She comes to realise he's still here ONLY when he starts the dialogue. Which then follows by her making him a butler, i guess ? And Ralsei just accepts that. This is so weird ! Maybe by virtue of him being a Darkner, he can't act outside of his role or something ? There may be a theme here of the Lightners having the power of self-determination, but Darkners being confined within their roles in the Lightners' stories. Which is what Spamton could be trying to escape ! He is trying to escape his condition of Darkner, that does make sense with what i've gathered from him. He constantly talks about rising above the darkness, to see the light, etc etc. And he does want to acquire a Lightner's SOUL aswell. Maybe this is what he is referring to when talking about puppet strings (i mean, apart from the litteral puppet strings holding him back lol). He wants to break free from the limits of being a Darkner, a static role in someone else's story, only to realise Kris is under the control of a *different* sort of strings.
this theory has literally nothing to support it but I found a comment where I can talk about it SO I don’t think Ralsei is the “prince of the dark” When we first meet him he describes himself as a prince, but nobody knows him and he doesn’t have any subjects, and I’d argue Lancer is more of a prince than him in that sense As someone who’s part of the trio that’s supposed to save the world, people sure like to ignore him, and he doesn’t contribute too much to the plot either, he’s more flat and the rest of the group just thinks of him as a “meh” He presents himself as the cool mysterious prophecy guy, but leaves out important parts of that prophecy (like the Roaring) which may be because the prophecy is actually longer and he doesn’t want to accidentally reveal a detail that shows he’s not the prince (and he sounds like he’s hiding stuff in general) Speaking of, when we’re reading the story and shown the images of the three heroes, Kris and Susie are obviously the human and monster, but anyone could be under the cloak of “the prince of the dark”. Kris and Susie start out with their faces covered too but Ralsei does it twice idk People mention that he’s too kind or too overly friendly or positive and how it seems suspicious sometimes, and it could possibly be him trying to cling to the story and making sure we want him around because he wasn’t supposed to come this far anyway He has that moment on the swan about what it even means to be Ralsei-like, and while you could answer that question with everything he’s done throughout chapters 1 and 2, maybe that’s not supposed to be Ralsei idk there’s something weird about him but i don’t want him to be evil
With the text change in the intro when we're told "you can't choose who you are" , the "vessel creator" and the "vessel discarding character" are quite possibly different characters. Possiblity associates who don't agree about our involvement in this world. Kris is established as someone who lived in this world before our involvement which means as a human Kris had their own SOUL, which has been replaced with us or altered to include us. I'd love for a scenario involving the Knight, which is probably our vessel being piloted by the one who forced us upon Kris, appearing in a final showdown.. for us to be able to defeat them and take the vessel releasing Kris or encountering the one who connected us with this world so that Kris could have their life back. Conversely maybe as a weird route option, the same scenario but after the knight we'd have our custom vessel back and fight Kris to answer for all the damage we'd done.
@@cherricake1796 I was supposed to have my OWN vessel, not possess someone else. But now that I've been placed in this position I'm going to fix it for the sake of the poor soul who's stuck with me if at all possible.
Replaying deltarune I realized Asriel is expected to come home at the end of the week, and each chapter is a day long. So 7 days in a week, 7 chapters. What could that mean?
Yeah but considering that chapter 2 must be at least friday for them to have a sleepover I'm guessing we'll get to see asriel sooner than that (if he's coming back at all that is.
I've been thinking about the upcoming chapters, and kinda tearing up at the thought that, at some point, we're gonna be able to play this game as an actual... you know, finished game????? And I just... God, Undertale meant so much to me, and even just playing through these first two chapters makes me feel that spark that Undertale started turn into a fire, if that makes any sense. Undertale will always be /that/ game for me, but Deltarune already feels like home.
The time when Deltarune is finished feels so far off but at the same time, I'm sure it's going to be incredible once it finally happens. Some may be able to say that they've grown up with Deltarune which is insane to think about.
I felt the EXACT same thing ! Ever since 2015 i wanted to feel the way i felt when i started Undertale for the first time. And when i played the two chapters of Deltarune i was like "There it is !". It felt so good.
There’s also how Neolle reacts with minmal healing to Ralsei tea and even comments how there’s nothing there because she doesn’t know him very well. However, Ralsei responds to Noelle tea with a little under normal healing and comments that it’s soft and sweet, implying that he knows her to some extent or has some sort of good disposition towards her
so deltarune chapter 2. I have a lot of things to said about this chapter. gameplay: So glad that they add mercy meter and party doing their own act meters. That would been helpful during the jevil fight. also that second queen fight was good and hope characters Noelle: she was a nice character. I like as she was only friend to kris and really the only to find something strange with kris. She also has alot of cute and funny moments. her romance with susie was awkward, but cute. basically agree with most people. hope she becomes permanent party member in later chapter bredly: man, the worst part of berdly to me is that he reminds of me during 7/8th grade and times ap class. if wasn't that I was shy as noelle. outside of that he was good annoying character. Queen: funny internet woman with banana goes brrrrrrrrrrrr. spamton(g spamton): this spambot is rival sans on the internet liking him. He a good mix of weird, creepy and funny. His general strangeness reminds me of ENA(a series I recommend). I like his tragic monster side to him. Also his bosfight is so far my favorite fight in deltarune and his boss theme kick ass. snowgrave/dark side route: oh boy this route. I admit it didn't click to me on how disturbing this route because I wasn't really paying to route, but when I did it quite a holy shit momment. I thought persona 4 accomplice ending, undertale genocide and part of star wars knight of the old republics 1 and 2 dark side route was mess up, but snowgrave shows how mess a dark side route can go. I think the reason why it so dark how surprising real for a game like this. Your gaslighting and manipulating this poor girl into your own weapon. the fact that you can add insult to injury by wearing her watch. Ouch. I hope chapter 3-5 is released next year what with toby fox having a full team and finalized what the game should be. I can't wait
Toby, (to my knowledge) did 90% of the coding work for this Chapter of Deltarune, so maybe you are right, BUT I'm gonna say that'll probably take him and his team 2 years for it to be a "complete product". And that would only be chapter 3 through 5.
This is a really nice analysis of some of the secrets of Deltarune, including some details that others and i missed, thanks for making such a good video, and stay determined.
Maybe I'm a little late late but, it's interesting that Kris creates a new fountain almost instantly while Berdly had to focus his power. I think it is related to the fact that a human soul is stronger than a monster soul and there's a book in the library that mentions exactly that, a human souls has more willpower than a monster soul. So, Kris is the perfect candidate to open the fountains, possibly meaning that the knight may have the willpower of a human soul.
Actually genius to use AI: The Somnium Files music in the Snowgrave route. Atrocious Insanity is so good. ???: "You did it." Kris: "Are you blaming a kid for all of this?" ???: "What? No, not Kris! The person inside Kris' head!"
"I do believe he's holding back info from us." I think this is right, in that he's holding it from US, the player specifically. Both times the game cuts away to Susie, we return to Ralsei finishing a conversation with Kris, not us. It's possible that they could be working against the player in secret.
also! id just like to mention that kris might've gotten weirded + confused with how ralsei acts around them because of the choices WE choose. aka the massive amounts of fan service if the player really likes ralsei and makes kris give and mention ralsei every chance the player gets. also the fact that ralsei seems very similar to their brother in almost every way possible could also factor in this because just imagine a person who reminds you so much of your sibling (that it feels uncomfortable to think about) starts to show that they have a crush on you- just my thoughts why kris might not be comfortable to sticking to ralsei that much-
I feel like Ralsei has such a cool idea relating to the theme of control in the form of the prophecy. The prophecy gives him, Kris and Susie a ‘purpose’, that only Ralsei seems to embrace in Chapter 1. The idea that he finds comfort in this control because it’s what the prophecy said is an interesting concept that places him in direct opposition to Kris’ control, and could set up a arc where Ralsei leaves the party after an argument about what the prophecy means to the main team.
People keep questioning why ralsei can survive in other dark worlds, if other darkners can't. Simple, the fountain ralsei originates from is made of pure darkness, meaning that he as well is make from pure, unrestricted darkness. Other darkners can survive in castle town, so he, the one that originates from there, should be able to survive in other dark worlds
@@ItsB1998 that dark world only keeps everyone safe because of the fact that, as Ralsei says himself, "Castle Town's fountain is made of pure darkness" Since it's obvious Ralsei ORIGINATES from castle Town, which let me remind you again, is made of PURE DARKNESS, it's easy to make the inference that he can survive in other dark worlds as well
11:40 It's not a lack of self confidence. See, the tea is like water that is flavoured with how the character feels when they're around the person the tea they're drinking. But who has anything other than a neutral feeling towards being around themself? That's just the standard.
I mean i'm sure Berdley has more than neutral feelings about the idea of being around himself lol. Just kidding, it seems he actually has a particularly low self-esteem and is over-compensating.
@@Sera-F1nn Ooo yeah, that's an interesting idea with the tea, characters who constantly have an opinion towards themself. A narcissist would probably be fond of the tea, while someone with a lot of guilt would probably just take damage from it. This concept is really cool!
It would be interesting if susie and Ralsei must fight Kris in the alter route. Also, I just realize the soul could of the entity of Chara and the player (bad and good) depending on choices the player makes.
TO ALL WHO STRUGGLED WITH THE SPAMTON NEO FIGHT: Regular healing items can revive downed ally's. Revive Dust just revives them to a 100% health, so the Butler Juice is very efective for these occasions (also, party members heal slowly during each turn when downed). Charged [[BIG SHOTS]] cause more damage per second compared to rapidy firing regular [[BIG SHOTS]], so keep charging and don't fire regular attacks; Only charged attacks. The Snap ALL option gives a 7% mercy on Spamton NEO, compared to individual snaps done with the party members (wich give you 6% mercy), man Deltarune is so much better as a Mixed RPG than Undertale. It's way more engaging as a Game, and posibly even as a experience (but that's more debatable with only 2 chapters made so far as of late October 2021 and the flawed legendary status Undertale has).
Also here other tips atleast for the normal route Ralsei’s act magic can form a shield that block damage, while Susie’s act magic can help charge [BIG SHOT] faster.
I personally feel like the first fountain Kris opened was the one in his home as well. Sure, we don't know what he did before the game started, and between chapters, but I don't think he'd be able to go into the school closet or the library's computer room at night. Not to mention, Queen explained how to open fountains, and Susie herself said that she liked when fountains opened, so she could go on an adventure. So I think Kris isn't the knight, but opened a fountain so he could go on another adventure with Susie, whose company he started to appreciate just recently.
something cool to have in next chapters is if you do nothing for too long kris takes over and progresses all by themselves, doing their preferred choices.
Abounded by their original parents. Being adopted Being only human in town. Mother and father divorced. Brother go away from college Neighbors daughter's sister is missing. Suffering depression, probably. Having no social skills. Being the chosen one to be controlled by invisible entity among the 7 billion people. If Kris is not unlucky then I don't know who is.
So I think the reason why the darkners from other worlds can exist within the town is due to the fact of object correlation: So basically a closet is a space of basically “infinite potential” where you can expect to see any sort of object in (I.e a deck of cards and a computer) as such you would probably not see a deck of cards within a computer lab HOWEVER you would expect to see these in a closet along with other items in coexistence
It may also mean that there WILL be dark worlds where say Lancer and Rouxls can follow along in. Iirc when Ralsei was explaining the stone issue he said that darkners "may"/"possibly" turn to stone. Honestly, I just really want another adventure with lancer as a pocket buddy without him getting statued half way through
My current theory about Ralsei and Asriel's connection is that Asriel created the pure darkness fountain where Castle Town is located. He's better at this than Kris and/or the Knight, hence why that fountain is not dangerous, why it can host every darkener, and why Ralsei, who originated from there, can be in any other dark world. Asriel having a refined ability of fountain creation could explain why Ralsei is so similar to him, because he imbued so much of himself into the fountain.
an interesting thing to note about snowgrave route. There's an interesting parallel between how you treat noelle and how you treat kris in the route, in that you're essentially controlling one puppet with a second puppet, but you can take this even further in some cases. Many people didn't know snowgrave existed as a route and probably looked up a guide for it, and then extending even further, the clues leading to this route were planted by toby, who has influence over the entire fanbase's movements
Im going to download this video through other means. Left my view and my like. Good luck. Edit after actually watching the video: Ah yes, the weird route was my favorite.
new subscriber for you! This video has basically every major things that have been analysed about Deltarune in a way that it's a very good starting point for anyone who completed the game (there's no excuse for not playing it) and wants to wander around on the internet.
Thank you! Just really wanted to make a video of that encompassed a lot of the stuff that really interested me about chapter 2! Game was on the brain a lot so hey might as well put those thoughts somewhere lol.
I just realized something about the snow grave route What if spamtons old friends where the ones to help him turn into neo after one of their friends die thanks to you
I think that Ralsei is actually something that Kris could actually keep in his pocket, that would be related in some way to Asriel (We can see many tells that Ralsei is linked somehow to Asriel and other ones telling that he's not him, so what could be linked to Asriel without being Asriel?).
I'll be honest: I think that the identity of the "soul" is gonna be more complicated (or...less(?) complicated?) than it being "us". Like, yeah, from a meta perspective, it _is_ "us", but I think that it's gonna be someone else. Gaster? The Knight? Some 3rd party? I don't know. Let's say that the soul _is_ the player, completely eviscerating any notion of a 4th wall. The question(s) is(are)...how would that even work? _Can_ it even work in the first place? Is the final boss gonna be Kris fighting the soul to finally stop being a puppet? I doubt that Toby would simply make either of the 2 parties be the straight up bad guy. If "we" are the bad guy simply because we controlled Kris, then...that seems, for lack of a better term...kind of insulting? It's like: "Yes, you were the one who was forcing this _innocent child_ to do _everything_ against their will! Don't you feel _b a d_ about it? Don't you feel like a _b a d g u y?!_ I mean...yeah, I do, but...I didn't really have a choice in the matter. What do you want me to do about it, not play the game? Yeah, yeah, "Your choices don't matter", I get that. I'll even say that I think it's clever. But it just _screams_ "Having your cake and eating it too" for me. **(I'm gonna go on a bit of a tangent here, sorry about that. Feel free to skip it if you don't care.)** It's like Undertale's Genocide route. Toby made the route to be intentionally bad in pretty much every aspect. It's miserable to play, it's miserable to watch, it's just a miserable experience. He even outright discourages anyone to do it through the intentionally bad design, the story and goes so far as to ruin any chances of getting a happy ending again unless you _literally hack the damn game._ And a lot of people would argue that you deserve it for going out of your way to commit genocide. After all, it's completely optional, right? ...yeah...not really. It's pretty much essential for certain parts of the lore, along with developing certain characters _and_ fun(though _incredibly_ frustrating) new boss fights. You don't make something like that route on a whim or for s**ts and giggles, it was made to give a message. The game tries to have it both ways by being a meta commentary/critique of typical RPG tropes/players who squeeze a game dry of its content simply because "they can"...while _also_ making it so that it's an essential experience in order to fully understand the game. **(Tangent over. Again, really sorry about that. I can't help myself sometimes.)** And if Kris ends up being the bad guy...I dunno, wouldn't that feel...anti-climactic? "Yeah, the one that's been doing shady stuff since the first chapter...is the bad guy!" Umm...OK...kind of expected more, but...all right. For me, the best case scenario would be for the whole thing to be morally gray. A puppet wanting to take it's own identity back from a master that...never meant to harm the puppet in the first place...unless later chapters have their own Snowgrave/Weird routs and/or different endings, which opens so many cans of worms that said worms will most likely replace the damn ocean. To cut all of this rambling short, the ideas presented here are genuinely clever and fascinating...but they're also just so... _big._ I'd argue a little _too_ big. The amount of stuff that needs to be kept track of, plus the sheer meta-ness of it all just seems, at best, convoluted, and/or, at worst, outright pretentious. But...who knows? Maybe Toby and his team will manage to pull off the impossible. I'm not gonna say that I believe that they'll succeed...but I'm also not gonna say that I believe that they'll fail either. I'll be patient and give it a chance, even if I am hesitant. Toby's shown that he likes to push boundaries with Undertale. I'm just praying that he doesn't hit a wall while doing the same with Deltarune. ... ... ...I'm just being a paranoid schmuck right now, aren't I?
I doubt that it's going to be as simple as "we're the bad guy." or that Kris is the bad guy. I think at this point, that's way too predictable and after Undertale, I feel like Toby would be aware of this. What I like about us controlling Kris is how it adds onto the game's themes of control but also identity. It's seen in many different ways from Noelle having no control over her dad's medical situation. I see us having control over Kris less as, "we're the bad guys for manipulating this kid," and more as a representation of how people can feel like they have no control over their lives or feel like they have no sense of identity, which I think also fits with the cast being teens. where that feeling can be really strong. I've always saw the 4th wall breaking elements of Toby's games as another means of making his world's feel "real" if that makes sense. Not real as in realistic, but real as in they exist with their own rules and sense of agency. Now I'm going to be 100% honesty and say I never played the Genocide route myself and only saw videos, . I only did the neutral and Pacifist Route but it's still one of my favorite games regardless because of what I took away from it with those routes alone. I don't really take away "you should feel bad for doing everything." I took it as more "you're choices and actions do matter and affect world. In both the best or worst ways." I feel like Deltarune may also be building up to this idea, but in a very different way. A way that first puts us in rock bottom with the idea that we can't change our lives or have a say in what happens. I may have also just rambled and maybe I should've included what I talked about here into the video, but hey, I like talking about this game lol.
Me personally I don’t think is kris is the bad guy/the knight, but has similar power to the knight. Making kris the knight would kinda lame. I’m thinking it going be the creation vessel all the way at back in very beginning of the game. Also like you said the soul/player is pretty moral grey, unless you go the weird route in which case yeah us the soul is the evil one.
Your vids inspire me to actually maybe try to make some vids out of the ideas I have. This is some gold tier content bro please keep going! Also if I were to recommend a couple of games: earthbound, mother 3, and in the future, oddity.
Maybe Ralsei is acting for US, since he says things to Kris while we're focusing on something else, what's he planning? we don't know bc he doesn't want us to know, man I can't wait for what's next!
On the “ralsei is evil” front… As someone who’s seen a playthrough of Undertale…it’s too obvious. I don’t think we’ve met the main villain yet. But that’s my personal theory.
this is a good video! you bought up some very good key points in this but you could work on your delivery to be a bit better, some parts where its supposed to keep the viewer on suspense need a little more time. take a breath and really let the uneasiness settle in for the audience. otherwise, i really enjoy this video. it keeps things short and sweet without going into detail too much or leaving in good points. this is awesome, i can’t wait to see more!
there's a theory that ralsei is actually the red horns kris would wear as a kid. ralsei looking asriel might be because he represents kris's desire to be a monster like their family. also i agree that ralsei probably wont become a villian but i do think he's aware of the player and caters to us because the soul (not kris) has the ability to seal the fountains. he seems to be putting aside his morals for the greater good. during the boat ride scene tho he appears to be second guessing himself about this because he starts talking about what it means to be yourself. if kris remains silent when he says "of course kris its nice that... you're you" he laughs and seems relieved saying its so "you-like" to be quiet right now and that he likes "you-like" things. considering he doesnt say "kris-like" its hard to know for sure if he means the player or kris (and which one ralsei would prefer us to be) but i think being quiet here is the more kris-like option so i think that whole scene is ralsei beginning to wonder if letting the player control kris is the right option or not, especially now that he's starting to learn what friendship really means. kris seems to show discomfort around ralsei also which probably has to do with ralsei representing everything they wish they could be (and for looking like their brother ofc), so the dynamic between the two of them is really fascinating. one is fighting against the control of an unknowable entity, and the other overlooks this control for the sake of saving the world. one last thing to note is that snowgrave only happens when susie and ralsei are no longer in our party. ralsei also isnt able to get us to cut to the ferris wheel scene in snowgrave meaning he doesnt get any alone time with kris. its possible he might actually only be appearing to side with the player in order to keep an eye on us so we dont do things like the snowgrave route. afterall the route only happens when ralsei who gets along with the player and susie who outright ignores the player are no longer there
people find out anything about this game but everyone seems to stop at kris opening a dark fountain. many speculate that he also created the ones in chapter 2 and 1, but nobody knows why. think about itkris doesnt like being controlled by the player (obviously) but for some reason he always puts his soul back. It might be because the soul is us, a unresistable voice, telling kris to put us back. so maybe hes trying to open the dark fountain to destroy the soul? kris doesnt die during a lost battle, the soul does. so maybe once its destroyed kris is free from being a puppet?
Is anyone else bothered by the fact that Ralsei's horns face a different direction? His overworld Sprite has them facing inward and his dialog Sprite has them facing outward. I can tell this was done on purpose, but for what is driving me crazy. That and my ocd wants me to fix them! While I usually take theories with a grain of salt (unless heavily backed up by in-game evidence) I do think the light world object Ralsei is based off of is the headband with the horns that Kris used to wear. You could make the argument that the more affection an object gets in the light world gives their dark world counterpart more power. Kris wore this headband to blend in with their family and maybe even the town. As they are the only human in town it wouldn't be a stretch to assume Kris didn't like the feeling of separation this would've given them. So this headband would be super important to Kris and if the object importance is true this would be why Ralsei is an incredibly powerful darkener. Sure other people could punch him and he'd go down, but so far Ralsei is the only darkener who can exist in other dark worlds, at least unless their near HIS dark fountain. But that's just a theory. (I'm sorry but it fits so well.) Now go play Delta traveler! It's a fan made deltarune game where Susie and Kris go the underground. Flowey's theme slaps so hard!
I absolutely hate the mercy meter. It basically becomes a health bar by a different name, and it gets rid of the fun of your two different forms of combat being fundamentally different.
Yeah, but it was already ruined by the ability of the player to just look up the sequence of ACTions and also the fact that in deltarune the ACTing is a lot more repetitive than undertale’s
The Snowgrave Route lets you take up the Charles Manson role, as Charlie himself never killed anyone, but influenced others to murder (among other crimes).
I think in chapter three were gonna have a ending like Undertales neutral run Cause in chapter one you cant do a genocide but you can do a pacifist ending Chapter two you cant do a pacifist but you can do a genocide
so kris is a puppet with us pulling this strings [big shot]: i am right here you [little slime] also the enemys are not "Dead" but they are locked in a frozen hell for eternity slowly dying in that sense its even worse also YOU are not murdering a entire race in deltarune YOU are MAKING Noelle do it so congrats it gets worse and worse those sins are already crawling ... 24:05 well its seems connected to some darker yet darker stuff (set its speed to 666 for easter egg) and i seems as though it will likly take place in gameplay and i just hope to fight gaster in there ;)
An opinion: I think if Toby released the chapters 1 by 1, instead of by bulk, it'd not only make the wait juicier, but would also give the fanbase more time to process the content and focus on the single chapter to do their thing: like, can we agree that it would've been impossible for the community to develop as much as it has about chapter 2 if we had chapter 3 alongside it?, of course, this is greatly flawed, as it depends on the game's development being linear, as it most likely is not, but I think that in that scenario it'd be better to think of the fanbase as an extention of the product. 'Tho, now that I think about it: if undertale's community is anything to go by, we can infer that this is not a relevant factor, really, the fandom at that moment was very long-lived.
While it may still be a while until the game is finished, this way or releasing has at least given people time to appreciate every little thing there is to Deltarune so far. People were able to do that with Undertale, but this game is going to be much longer so it works out
@@EDsCorner Yeah, I think I'd like it more if toby held up the chapters intentionally when they were all ready and went on releasing them once-a-month, even if that doesn't mean we get next chapter earlier: Give the community time to digest, to create, to analize, all at their own pace, and by the time they're running out of content: boom, new chapter.
Everyone goes on and on about us being the bad guy, but lets be real that is too easy and too lame an idea. There has to be something more going on, like Kris is fighting against us but we end up working together to save the world or some shiz. If it turns out we are bad for playing the game, this will be 0/10 immediately. I won't feel bad for playing the game.
@@SP_Jelly i guess people think they look masculine or something?? or maybe they believe that "kris is supposed to represent the player so I can call them whatever I want" bullshit

My biggest question for the next chapter is what Toriel would think of Ralsei, assuming kris made a fountain
If that encounter ever happens, there's no way they can avoid that question for any longer
Ralsei: KRIS, what on earth did made a foundation!?
Toriel: KRIS, why the hell is this darkner looks like Asriel, but more feminie?

Hah What if Dess is the Knight?
maybe that's why kris was scared when they saw the schools closet looking like that in chapter 1
Stupid thing to support this theory:
Snow grave: removing s and w from the word is . This can hint that dess is missing since she doesn't have any grave
i think they just went to college like asriel, none of the characters really act like they are missing
And whatever he's trying to do Kris is a part of
My theory is that he's trying to help Kris escape the player's control, possibly opening and closing dark fountains will let Kris survive without the soul. And the moment after the Spamton fight where Ralsei tries to very forcibly calm Kris down is an attempt to stop us from catching on that they're aware of being under our control.
Agreed!
THATS WHY HE SEEMED SO SUS, he just wants to help Kris cause he knows we’re controlling them
I love that !
I must disagree at something; Kris most likely, no, DEFINITELY W O U L D prank Noelle at least once lmao.
@@ALLHAILSUNSETYOUTH2 The difference between that prank and the switch one is the former is harmless and the latter could go very wrong.

the entire snowgrave route was a prank lmao
Ralsei is hiding something for sure, but I don't think he is a villain
A fight would be much more emotional if he constantly scolds the player for what they've done
Instead of pulling the "I never cared for you" card
Yeah I think shattering that connection you had with him and having it all be a lie would be really lame for me but I can see some sort of emotional conflict happening.
I honestly think Toby could do better than just that overused "the hero is actually a villain" twist. It's not even a twist in the game community anymore, it's just an overused concept.
Toby would make Ralsei have a secret like Alphys' in Undertale, something that'll let out a lot of lore, but not specifically being an evil position.
Also this fandom doesn't make any sense
They love Ralsei but expect him to betray us (and Kris) at some point
Like what-
He’s definitely more of an Alphys. He’s timid and he means well but he has a few skeletons in his closet that he’d rather not talk about
I DONT (fully) TRUST THAT GOAT
I feel like he would betray *us* just not Kris
I like to think that there will be more methods to killing enemies in the future. Why the chapter 2 enemies are killed by being frozen is because they are software, which means they just freeze and crash.
I didn't even think about the software freezing part. That's clever.
Well toriel Will be in the next dark world for sure, so darkner toast It is

Bro same-
I have hyperfixated on this game
I just have to say this about Ralsei. Because i have yet to see ANYONE talk about that and it drives me crazy !!!
On the topic of Ralsei being... somewhat weird. I can't help but notice how other than by Kris and Susie, arguably the two protagonists, he is hardly noticed by anyone EVER. And it is especially obvious (and REALLY weird) when it comes to Noelle.
They didn't interact at ALL during the chapter, it feels like she barely notices his existence. This is even more reinforced by those lines i didn't even see before this video : when you give Noelle the Ralsei tea, she replies "There's nothing in here !"
Why is this ?
(Also i'm rambling about what comes to my mind but he just accepts being Queen's butlers without doing anything to try and save the others.)
Now that i think about it, one of the very few times he's taking any kind of initiative is 1, to talk about the prophecy (multiple times), and 2, and this one is really ominous, to talk to Kris behind the player's back.
Thats true, but then what about the ending? When he shouts and everyone listens?
Unless I’m mistaken, Ralsei is only referred to as Ralsei by Kris and Susie, being called names like Toothpaste Boy by other characters like Lancer.
He wants to break free from the limits of being a Darkner, a static role in someone else's story, only to realise Kris is under the control of a *different* sort of strings.
this theory has literally nothing to support it but I found a comment where I can talk about it SO
I don’t think Ralsei is the “prince of the dark”
When we first meet him he describes himself as a prince, but nobody knows him and he doesn’t have any subjects, and I’d argue Lancer is more of a prince than him in that sense
As someone who’s part of the trio that’s supposed to save the world, people sure like to ignore him, and he doesn’t contribute too much to the plot either, he’s more flat and the rest of the group just thinks of him as a “meh”
He presents himself as the cool mysterious prophecy guy, but leaves out important parts of that prophecy (like the Roaring) which may be because the prophecy is actually longer and he doesn’t want to accidentally reveal a detail that shows he’s not the prince (and he sounds like he’s hiding stuff in general)
Speaking of, when we’re reading the story and shown the images of the three heroes, Kris and Susie are obviously the human and monster, but anyone could be under the cloak of “the prince of the dark”. Kris and Susie start out with their faces covered too but Ralsei does it twice idk
People mention that he’s too kind or too overly friendly or positive and how it seems suspicious sometimes, and it could possibly be him trying to cling to the story and making sure we want him around because he wasn’t supposed to come this far anyway
He has that moment on the swan about what it even means to be Ralsei-like, and while you could answer that question with everything he’s done throughout chapters 1 and 2, maybe that’s not supposed to be Ralsei
idk there’s something weird about him but i don’t want him to be evil
Forced you upon?
Well you're the one picking up the controller aren't you?...
@@cherricake1796 I was supposed to have my OWN vessel, not possess someone else.

Replaying deltarune I realized Asriel is expected to come home at the end of the week, and each chapter is a day long. So 7 days in a week, 7 chapters. What could that mean?
Asriel may finally return as the star character of the final chapter. I'm extremely curious what kind of character he'll end up being in Deltarune.
The word “proceed” will never be the same for me
There’s also how Neolle reacts with minmal healing to Ralsei tea and even comments how there’s nothing there because she doesn’t know him very well. However, Ralsei responds to Noelle tea with a little under normal healing and comments that it’s soft and sweet, implying that he knows her to some extent or has some sort of good disposition towards her
Yeah Ralsei doesn't even feel the need to introduce himself to any new lighters. He just casually goes along with things.

Noelle: she was a nice character. I like as she was only friend to kris and really the only to find something strange with kris. She also has alot of cute and funny moments. her romance with susie was awkward, but cute. basically agree with most people. hope she becomes permanent party member in later chapter
bredly: man, the worst part of berdly to me is that he reminds of me during 7/8th grade and times ap class. if wasn't that I was shy as noelle. outside of that he was good annoying character.
This is a really nice analysis of some of the secrets of Deltarune, including some details that others and i missed, thanks for making such a good video, and stay determined.
Thanks! Was a fun video to do!
???: "You did it."
Kris: "Are you blaming a kid for all of this?"
???: "What? No, not Kris! The person inside Kris' head!"
Glad someone noticed that! I love AI's soundtrack and that track was one of my favorites so I figured it would fit pretty well.
"I do believe he's holding back info from us." I think this is right, in that he's holding it from US, the player specifically. Both times the game cuts away to Susie, we return to Ralsei finishing a conversation with Kris, not us. It's possible that they could be working against the player in secret.
also! id just like to mention that kris might've gotten weirded + confused with how ralsei acts around them because of the choices WE choose. aka the massive amounts of fan service if the player really likes ralsei and makes kris give and mention ralsei every chance the player gets. also the fact that ralsei seems very similar to their brother in almost every way possible could also factor in this because just imagine a person who reminds you so much of your sibling (that it feels uncomfortable to think about) starts to show that they have a crush on you-
just my thoughts why kris might not be comfortable to sticking to ralsei that much-
I feel like Ralsei has such a cool idea relating to the theme of control in the form of the prophecy.
I don't see why I would work like that. We've only seen that the dark world itself is what keeps everyone safe
@@ItsB1998 that dark world only keeps everyone safe because of the fact that, as Ralsei says himself, "Castle Town's fountain is made of pure darkness"
Since it's obvious Ralsei ORIGINATES from castle Town, which let me remind you again, is made of PURE DARKNESS, it's easy to make the inference that he can survive in other dark worlds as well
11:40 It's not a lack of self confidence. See, the tea is like water that is flavoured with how the character feels when they're around the person the tea they're drinking. But who has anything other than a neutral feeling towards being around themself? That's just the standard.
Ah good point!
Also thank you for your analysis. Great content

Also here other tips atleast for the normal route
Ralsei’s act magic can form a shield that block damage, while Susie’s act magic can help charge [BIG SHOT] faster.
@@starmaker75 Hmm, partially right and wrong, since Susie's act just makes the big shot charge faster but I don't know if it causes more damage.

@@beakslololol4347Hmm, I beat him on my second try, it's super easy with the [[Big Shot]] feature.
Don't forget hitting F1 gives you a free heal.
Kris is they/them not he/him btw

something cool to have in next chapters is if you do nothing for too long kris takes over and progresses all by themselves, doing their preferred choices.
Abounded by their original parents.
Being adopted
Being only human in town.
Mother and father divorced.
Brother go away from college
Neighbors daughter's sister is missing.
Suffering depression, probably.
Having no social skills.
Being the chosen one to be controlled by invisible entity among the 7 billion people.
If Kris is not unlucky then I don't know who is.
So I think the reason why the darkners from other worlds can exist within the town is due to the fact of object correlation:
So basically a closet is a space of basically “infinite potential” where you can expect to see any sort of object in (I.e a deck of cards and a computer) as such you would probably not see a deck of cards within a computer lab HOWEVER you would expect to see these in a closet along with other items in coexistence
It may also mean that there WILL be dark worlds where say Lancer and Rouxls can follow along in. Iirc when Ralsei was explaining the stone issue he said that darkners "may"/"possibly" turn to stone. Honestly, I just really want another adventure with lancer as a pocket buddy without him getting statued half way through
This was the best video about deltarune i have ever watched. Time to give this guy 10.000 subs and beyond.
The seamless transitions between funny and dark is EXACTLY what I've been saying about deltarune
an interesting thing to note about snowgrave route.

Thank you! Just really wanted to make a video of that encompassed a lot of the stuff that really interested me about chapter 2! Game was on the brain a lot so hey might as well put those thoughts somewhere lol.

22:20 Maybe, but even then, taking his two conspiratory talks with Kris into account, he might oppose... YOU
8:26 The piano is simply missing keys, according to the narration
I think that Ralsei is actually something that Kris could actually keep in his pocket, that would be related in some way to Asriel (We can see many tells that Ralsei is linked somehow to Asriel and other ones telling that he's not him, so what could be linked to Asriel without being Asriel?).
I'll be honest:
I think that the identity of the "soul" is gonna be more complicated (or...less(?) complicated?) than it being "us".
It's like:
"Yes, you were the one who was forcing this _innocent child_ to do _everything_ against their will! Don't you feel _b a d_ about it? Don't you feel like a _b a d g u y?!_
I mean...yeah, I do, but...I didn't really have a choice in the matter.
Feel free to skip it if you don't care.)**
It's like Undertale's Genocide route.
Toby made the route to be intentionally bad in pretty much every aspect.
It's miserable to play, it's miserable to watch, it's just a miserable experience.
He even outright discourages anyone to do it through the intentionally bad design, the story and goes so far as to ruin any chances of getting a happy ending again unless you _literally hack the damn game._
And a lot of people would argue that you deserve it for going out of your way to commit genocide.
I can't help myself sometimes.)**
And if Kris ends up being the bad guy...I dunno, wouldn't that feel...anti-climactic?
"Yeah, the one that's been doing shady stuff since the first chapter...is the bad guy!"
Umm...OK...kind of expected more, but...all right.
_big._
I'd argue a little _too_ big.
In both the best or worst ways."
I feel like Deltarune may also be building up to this idea, but in a very different way.
I don't have much to add, just that I really liked this video :)
20:20 I never noticed this... ingenious.

On the “ralsei is evil” front…
As someone who’s seen a playthrough of Undertale…it’s too obvious.
I don’t think we’ve met the main villain yet.

Oh shit i fuckin remember paper trail when it was really early on, i completely forgot about it, i need to watch a dub
there's a theory that ralsei is actually the red horns kris would wear as a kid. ralsei looking asriel might be because he represents kris's desire to be a monster like their family.
also i agree that ralsei probably wont become a villian but i do think he's aware of the player and caters to us because the soul (not kris) has the ability to seal the fountains. he seems to be putting aside his morals for the greater good. during the boat ride scene tho he appears to be second guessing himself about this because he starts talking about what it means to be yourself. if kris remains silent when he says "of course kris its nice that... you're you" he laughs and seems relieved saying its so "you-like" to be quiet right now and that he likes "you-like" things.
considering he doesnt say "kris-like" its hard to know for sure if he means the player or kris (and which one ralsei would prefer us to be) but i think being quiet here is the more kris-like option so i think that whole scene is ralsei beginning to wonder if letting the player control kris is the right option or not, especially now that he's starting to learn what friendship really means.
kris seems to show discomfort around ralsei also which probably has to do with ralsei representing everything they wish they could be (and for looking like their brother ofc), so the dynamic between the two of them is really fascinating. one is fighting against the control of an unknowable entity, and the other overlooks this control for the sake of saving the world.
one last thing to note is that snowgrave only happens when susie and ralsei are no longer in our party. ralsei also isnt able to get us to cut to the ferris wheel scene in snowgrave meaning he doesnt get any alone time with kris. its possible he might actually only be appearing to side with the player in order to keep an eye on us so we dont do things like the snowgrave route. afterall the route only happens when ralsei who gets along with the player and susie who outright ignores the player are no longer there
people find out anything about this game but everyone seems to stop at kris opening a dark fountain. many speculate that he also created the ones in chapter 2 and 1, but nobody knows why. think about itkris doesnt like being controlled by the player (obviously) but for some reason he always puts his soul back.
Flowey's theme slaps so hard!
i think that ralsei could be the headband that kris had coming to life in the dark world??

I absolutely hate the mercy meter. It basically becomes a health bar by a different name, and it gets rid of the fun of your two different forms of combat being fundamentally different.

@@potatorat2508 then he should make it less repetitive
The Snowgrave Route lets you take up the Charles Manson role, as Charlie himself never killed anyone, but influenced others to murder (among other crimes).
My biggest question would be: Was Frisk a Puppet all along?
No.
I feel that kris has “meh” feelings towards ralsei because kris feels it’s not the same as having their real brother there

People were able to do that with Undertale, but this game is going to be much longer so it works out
@@EDsCorner
Yeah, I think I'd like it more if toby held up the chapters intentionally when they were all ready and went on releasing them once-a-month, even if that doesn't mean we get next chapter earlier: Give the community time to digest, to create, to analize, all at their own pace, and by the time they're running out of content: boom, new chapter.
Everyone goes on and on about us being the bad guy, but lets be real that is too easy and too lame an idea. There has to be something more going on, like Kris is fighting against us but we end up working together to save the world or some shiz.
