The specifics of the storyline are open to interpretation, but I think your on track with the parallels to BEcause in terms of the broad themes.

I like how you interpret their mvs
My interpretation:
The girls manage to become living humans again by using the spellbook and the mirrors as portals, also trapping the hunter (good night). They are making a living as photographers, using the pictures to, eventually, cast spells on other people. The spider spirit, in the form of an old lady, tracks them down to gets its revenge and manages to trap Yoohyeons soul in the dreamworld again, taking her body. Jiu and the others make a ritual to remove the spirit (the smoke monster) who tries to catch Jiu (being a spirit can only be visible in a mirror). Yoohyeon soul, however, stays trapped in the dreamworld and is finally consumed by the smoke monster/spider spirit.

I agree with this explanation. Still, why was the ritual also on the other side of the gate? And why did Yoohyeon open her eyes at the end?
I agree for the most part. I believe YooHyeon is trapped in the similar matter like Fly High. JiU removes the spirit. The spirit chases her. She realizes she is in a dream. The spinning top is the clue that made her realize it. When JiU wakes up or tries to wake up. During the struggle (my assumption), she actually closes the portal to keep YooHyeon from actual danger. Also, doing this way, the spirit stays in YooHyeon and possibly limiting its actions.
@@crispychicken9298 Good point. Maybe they must enter the dreamworld as part of the ritual to wake Yoohyeon and bring her back, but fail and return without her soul.

I also agree, for the most part. The differences in my interpretation comes down to just a few details.
To understand all this you will have to understand the roles I have assigned to JiU and Yoohyeon.
JiU: JiU's main role is to oppose the curse. She is the one that closed the gate in Fly High that trapped the curse in the school / hotel. She is the one who saves the members (well, most of them) by removing their curse through the ritual we see in this MV. It seems that, for some reason, the curse has less of a hold on her than the other members. She is also the first to realize that something is going wrong, that the curse it taking affect. She does this in Fly High when she notices her doppelganger at the piano. She does it in this video when she experiences vertigo and see the top in the hall during this video and she does it again in Piri (no spoilers).
Yoohyeon: The primary target. Yoohyeon become the primary target when she burned the spider.
1) "...using the pictures to, eventually, cast spells on other people. " In essence, this is true. But the 'spells' they are casting are meant to free the people in the photographs from their nightmares / fears, much like burning the pages from The Book freed SuA and Gahyeon from their nightmares in Good Night.
2) At the start of the video, all of the members have been freed from the Nightmare with the exception of Yoohyeon. She is still , somehow, effected / tainted by the curse, hence the ritual that releases the smoky spirit. Unfortunately the ritual isn't completely successful because the curse, in the form of the smoky spirit, isn't full banished and is still in the house. the curse, in the form of the old woman, comes to reclaim her primary target, Yoohyeon. The portal closing at the end signifies Yoohyeon has failed to escape the curse and she is left, alone, in the Nightmare Realm.
In my opinion, the lyrics of this song seem like the spider queen is deceiving Yoohyeon. The Spider Queen says she is her only savior and wants her to be her servant. In the music video, the spider queen succeeds in capturing her Yoohyeon.
I always thought it was Jiu telling Yoohyeon that she will save her from the spider curse, but your interpretation has made me think that the song is written from the point of view of the spider and that it is like a letter to the girls telling them that they will never escape and that they belong to her.

The Spider Lady is a guest in the mansion because she wants Yoohyeon, we can see after the picture she transforms into a spider and ginally catch her, she also tries to catch JiU by the mirror but she scape with the others girls. After that they try to save Yoo that's getting consumed by the dark smoke, they make a portal so she can scape but she unfortunately couldn't reach at time.
This portal is the principal subject in What MV.
Absolutely under-rated song and MV.
Some of the ladies fears are referenced in this MV. JiU's fear of being chased, Yoohyeon's fear of being lost/alone forever, and Dami's fear of getting hurt. The last one actually took me a long time to figure out but it's the only thing that explains why she's in the glass case.
But then she broke out of that herself with her own weapon.
Only Yoohyeon is possessed here, I think. The spider queen takes over her body and banishes her spirit into the white dimension. JiU and the others are trying to get Yoohyeon back. Your interpretation has merit as well of course, there never has been an official interpretation.
And yes, You and I is exceptional. It was the song that got me interested in them.
There is a reason DC is called the "Dark Angels" of Kpop! They just fit these dark concepts so well.

DC is all about their edge, and we're all here for it. I love hearing you talk about how you interpret these videos! There's no such thing as being "right," really, even for the videos where there's a popular theory or interpretation. Also, you should _definitely_ take a look at the dance performances of this video. Dami's section in particular is magical.

I think your theories are pretty spot on. The spider that Yoohyeon burned in Fly High came back to take revenge on her, trapping her alone in the dreamworld. And it possessed Jiu and probably some others while it was at it. Yoohyeon went from being a bit of a villain to maybe the biggest victim in this story. Now, how is she gonna get out of this situation? We'll find out in the next MV, What. Which is also my personal favourite DC title track :)
I don't know if you noticed how Dami magically pulled a staff out of thin air. That's something she does live too and I have no idea how she does it. I watched so many performances, slowed down, frame by frame and the staff always seems to materialise out of nothing. Actual witches, I tell you.
I think the reason why this seems so similar to BEcause is that Dreamcatcher can't make anything reminiscent of a love song without it being about creepy and obsessive love. At least in their title tracks haha. But I love your reactions, I'm always amazed at how quickly you pick up on things that took me practically a million watches to understand.
I really hope you check out the dance performance of this eventually. Dami's section during a live performance went viral on Reddit like maybe a month after this song came and it was what initially got me into Dreamcatcher. Then there are the part switch versions where others have to replicate Dami's move.
I wonder if things will make a bit more sense after you check out What and see what happens after You And I.

-at the beginning of the MV we can hear the mansion door bell . . JIU came in a coridor but run when she see the guest the "old lady" .
-we don't know exactly how many time the old lady stay in the mansion but she came for YOOHYEON . atfer than YOOHYEON take a picture of her she turn into a giant spider and attack YOOHYEON . we can also see than she trap HANDONG into a sider web .
- Yoohyeon became the new spider
- JIU try to escape with her sister they capture Yoohyeon and try to rescue her with a ritual . during that ritual JIU as the eldest fight agains't the nightmare but she fall into a nightmare loop in a mansion . we can see a spinning top on a ground representing the loop .
-at first the old lady came for YOOHYEON because she burn a spider in FLY HIGH
- the portal than Yoohyeon try to reach will be important in the next MV

I saw this MV like a hundred times, and still have no idea what the hell is actually happening =/
All I can say is they all somehow got trapped in nightmares again, and Yoohyeon ended up being trapped alone, apart of others.
The reason the video has so low views is because when you search for the video the 1TheK video shows. And that one has 16mln views. Most of the people don’t watch You&I on the Dreamcatcher Official page.

After you're finished with the nightmare series, breaking out and the full moon promotion video i really reccomend "the nightmare storyline explained" by SuA's SinB. It really explains everything very well and even if it isn't confirmed that it's true, it's always fun to see other people's takes on the story, especially ones as in depth as this.
Another must watch is also "dreamcatcher: dodging disbandment and other extreme sports" It makes you feel a lot more emotionally connected to the girls and it also really helps understand what early DC stans know, but newer stans (like myself) just haven't experienced
Interesting. What you interpreted as possession in Jiu I always saw as dejection and desperation. Also, you noticed the reference to Inception, I think that was to inform us that we were a few dreams deep trying to save Yoohyeon from the curse. So, I saw it as this: Dreamcatcher go into Yoohyeon's dream to try and free her from the curse. They perform the ritual where the portal is. They see that they've opened the portal so they wake themselves up and perform the ritual to exercise the spirit in the real world, that's when you see the spirit leave Yoohyeon's body. The angered spirit goes after Jiu and she runs to lead it away from Yoohyeon, possible to trap it in the mirror, but, she stops abruptly when she sees the spinning top. She suddenly realizes that they're still in Yoohyeon's dream and she loses hope. Too much time has passed. By the time the DC wakes up for real it's too late and the portal that they opened has closed and Yoohyeon's soul is trapped back in the dreamworld. To me the dance move at the end is Jiu's desperation to hang on to Yoohyeon. That's my interpretation, at least.
Also, it may seem like the views on this mv are ridiculously low, but that's because it's the only Dreamcatcher MV that did better on another channel that their own. It actual has the second highest views in the Nightmare series behind Piri.

Again a lovely reaction, really enjoyed your interpretation and it made me think of the possibility that this whole mv is what happend in alternate universes during the fly high mv. It is a bit of a stretch (a very big one actually alot of things don't add up) but that's the fun thing about dreamcatcher's music, and especially mv's they are totally open to your own interpretation! It would as I think of it actually be that this is the "real universe" and the others are "fake" since the spinner only spins evenly in the real universe (in inception) and in this mv it did spin continuously.
I would love to see your reaction to the explanation behind the nightmare series, I forgot the channel name but one channel explores a very interesting theory.
Hint: as discussed in that video, Jiu meant to help at first, but as she is chased down the corridor she could've gotten possessed by whatever was chasing her.

Hello, as follow my previous theory about nightmare era, this is my theory for You And I :
After leaving in the forest (ending of Good Night) and losing the BlackBook, they believe they're running a photograph store all together (and continuing their witches spell), the ring bell at the beginning annonce the arrival of the Spider-queen, and Yoohyeon receiving the "old lady" is trapped by her in the white dimension.
So the group decide to make an incantation all around her (Jiu taking the lead) and appears in the white dimension and succeed to wake her up, at this moment Yoohyeon see the dimension portal and run to the gate.
They believe she's back with them after that (removing the spider soul), but in reality she's still in the white dimension and failed to escape.
After that, they find more and more odd phenomena in their photo-store, like Jiu running upside down and returning to the same spot all the time, Gahyeon feeling like deformed in the mirror, Handong feeling like restrained by spiderweb, etc etc.
Finally Jiu, in her once again "running for escaping dream period" find a clue on the ground (the spinning top is a reference to the movie "Inception") revealing that they're still alltogether in a nightmare (the BlackBook is still operating).
Following the theory in the movie Inception : Yoohyeon is trapped by the Spider-Queen in a below dream-dimension than their own dream-dimension.
The last scene (Jiu strangling Yoohyeon) indicate that she finally understand that it's not Yoohyeon among them, but the Spider-Queen (that why she's the only one who is smiling in the different scenes surrended by spiderweb, like controling the curse).
PS : The strangling scene will help them to escape the curse of the spider, the photo-store jail, for the next song WHAT....

Actually You and I MV has more views on 1theK channel for some reason. Probably because it was decently popular at its time...? It was their first 1st place nomination on music show, after all. But yeah, compared to What and Fly High, You and I has more cumulative views.

Love your reaction!👍 and I would say that the white dimension they are in is a lot like the inside of an hourglass, the hourglass broken and full of cobwebs, and while they are doing the ceremony, Yoohyeon is sitting on a chair holding the hourglass, and when JiU casts a spell also sprinkled the sand and Dami was locked in a glass bottle like a spider, I don't know what that means, but thought the details and associations were cool! haha~ sorry mechanical english^^"
I'm not sure whether I am correct or not but in my opinion. . Jiu tries to free Yoohyeon by an exorcism and the thing coming out of Yoohyeon is the curse which in turn goes and chases Jiu. But all of this effort remains futile as the thing goes and latches back to Yoohyeon, who then becomes unable to escape the nightmare and remains trapped in it.. .
