Any one of us would jump at the chance to manage a club like Valencia if we had the badges to do so, especially if we had been involved in football for 20 years. He gave it a crack and failed. No different to the countless managers who fail at other clubs year in year out.

Never had a problem with failing at Valencia. Only have a problem with the inconsiderate criticism of Wenger and other managers: “Wenger is naive.....” “Mourinho is clueless....” etc, etc. It took him working as a manager to really understand the work it entails to be a manager.
The courage it must take to take on a job like that has to be mentioned. Very self reflective with no mention of who let him down or who added to his time being so difficult. As a football fan who has watched Gary throughout his playing career and tv work for the last twenty plus yrs I find it a bit upsetting to see how he was treated yet all he can talk about is how it was all his fault and how he failed to train, organise, coach, communicate etc. Great guy and we’re lucky to have him represent our game and our country.

in this video, Neville explains so many good things that you need to do to run a business, or manage a team etc. it's a shame (for him) that he didn't adhere to those (as he admits), but you can tell that it has made him a better leader, businessman, manager etc, and he wont make that mistake again. i think this video is a must for any business owner and/or footy fan.

When Neville talked about being outclassed that honestly made me a little scared too. I mean imagine how frightening that would be. The man standing what is it 10 yards away from you is actively managing the game 3 steps ahead of you, you bloody know it, and there's absoultely nothing you can do about it. Great player, great pundit. Like all of us, not always as a nice person when younger. Has now mellowed and matured and is now a nice guy and very self-aware.
I remember it being the perfect recipe for Disaster. 1. Valencia's massive decline due to an incompetent president ( Peter Lim) and board. Selling their best players and youngsters. (They still have that same board that sacked Marcelino who took them from relegation battle to top 4 and won them the Copa Del Rey. He got sacked because of a slow start in the season after 5 games (2 wins,2 losses and 1 draw) and because of disagreements). 2. Unhapppy fans and a toxic atmosphere at the club 3. Gary's lack of experience as a coach.

Well they had alot of key players missing over those 2 games and in the last couple of weeks to be fair. Their starting 2 CBs Paulista and Garay. Missed their starting 2 ST Rodrigo and Gameiro, Cillesen GK and Guedes and Soler starting wingers missed the first leg. They've also lost 3-0 to Getafe, 4-1 to bottom table Mallaroca, 3-0 to Sociedad. And they are currently 7th. But Valencia really were improving under Marcelino going from bottom table to back to back top 4 finishes. To bad they're run by idiots.

When Neville talked about being outclassed that honestly made me a little scared too. I mean imagine how frightening that would be. The man standing what is it 10 yards away from you is actively managing the game 3 steps ahead of you, you bloody know it, and there's absoultely nothing you can do about it. I mean that just goes to show how much impact a manager has on a game

Great player, great pundit. Like all of us, not always as a nice person when younger. Has now mellowed and matured and is now a nice guy and very self-aware.

1. Valencia's massive decline due to an incompetent president ( Peter Lim) and board. Selling their best players and youngsters.
(They still have that same board that sacked Marcelino who took them from relegation battle to top 4 and won them the Copa Del Rey. He got sacked because of a slow start in the season after 5 games (2 wins,2 losses and 1 draw) and because of disagreements).
2. Unhapppy fans and a toxic atmosphere at the club
3. Gary's lack of experience as a coach.

True they sacked Marcelino at the start of the season and are managed by a caretaker manager at the moment. Well they had alot of key players missing over those 2 games and in the last couple of weeks to be fair. Their starting 2 CBs Paulista and Garay. Missed their starting 2 ST Rodrigo and Gameiro, Cillesen GK and Guedes and Soler starting wingers missed the first leg. They've also lost 3-0 to Getafe, 4-1 to bottom table Mallaroca, 3-0 to Sociedad. And they are currently 7th. But Valencia really were improving under Marcelino going from bottom table to back to back top 4 finishes. To bad they're run by idiots.
Valencia still are in the same postion or are they doing better than they were few years back?
@@Fookracists They finished 4th the season before Gary was appointed and were in the Champions League. 8 months later they were batteling relegation.
@@Fookracists today they are 7th with their former succesful manager Marcelino sacked in September. The to seasons prior they finished 4th twice and played in the Champions League. Now they seem to be going down again.

Very honest and self aware Gary Neville is. I didn't take to Gary Neville over the yrs. Perhaps coz I'm an arsenal fan. But i am starting to admire him. Very real and self critical.

Never liked Gary Neville much as a player buy as a pundit he has absolutely bossed it.
He has a good sense of what fans want, has a great knowledge of the game & I find myself agreeing with a lot of what he says
Love his honesty and integrity even when speaking about himself or his beloved Man utd & also the way he gives a better understanding of what happens behind the scenes at major football clubs.
