    Great video and always the professional pilot. Thank you for the ride. Retired USAF HC/WC-130 and T-39 pilot and really miss flying. Seems you are always in the latest Cirrus aircraft. Fly for a company that leases/rents Cirrus aircraft? This old "steam gauge" pilot is very envious of that glass cockpit. Fly safe

    How did you get a Lightspeed headset with the mic on the right???

    • @ColinPrenger
      @ColinPrenger  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I switch my headset around to both sides depending on which seat I'm in. So the cord doesn't get in the way. The ones I have are seemingly unidirectional I guess. They're not labeled L/R

    Fly into KSDL! I've been watching your videos for a long time and know you have ties to the airport.

    • @ColinPrenger
      @ColinPrenger  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      This was the weekend of the Phoenix Open, so the fuel prices at SDL were significantly more expensive than Cutter down at PHX. Plus PHX was closer to my client's meetings.

    • @MichaelVanHeemst
      @MichaelVanHeemst 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Colin Prenger oh. Yeah Phoenix Open was a nightmare. There was the MetLife blimp, and probably 4 banner towing aircraft were all following each other in a circle over the golf course right next to the approach end of 21.

    Could these speeds also be achieved with the SR22 NA. I hear the normally aspirated version performs better than the 22T at all altitudes below 10,000 feet?

    • @ColinPrenger
      @ColinPrenger  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They can get close for sure. The 22NA performs about 85% as well as the 22T. But since I live in Colorado, the 22T is more favorable in the mountains because the NA is limited to 17,500. Flying IFR in the mountains, minimum IFR altitudes are 17,000 ft, so your margin is smaller than with the 22T.

    • @gbigsangle3044
      @gbigsangle3044 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why? The 22T will fly like an NA lower but you have the Turbo their when you need to climb over the mountains and you get the higher cruise speeds too.

  • @willyt7241

    Nice video. Hopefully the 150kt speed assignment didnt get you closer than 4nm behind the large aircraft. If it did, it wasnt legal on the controllers part since you were providing visual separation behind the large. With visual separation you can put yourself as close as you want, but the controller can't violate wake turbulance spacing.

    • @ColinPrenger

      w turner I think he was well ahead of me, never became an issue. I was watching his traffic target on the screen to make sure of that too.

      @@ColinPrenger great. Dont ever let a controller put you in a position you aren't comfortable. Retired 30 years ATC, first 5 at Stapleton worked tower and tracon providing service to Centennial when it was Arapaho, and Rocky Mt when it was Jeffco, lol! Many years ago.

      @@willyt7241 Oh absolutely, I'm not afraid to say no to them. I've become friends with one of the APA controllers and another gal up at Denver Center. Good to build a relationship with them, not to mention I've learned a ton while getting to know them. That's awesome! Good for you, that's a nice and long career yelling at people ;)

      @@ColinPrenger it was a great career. Finished on the east coast at Boston Approach. After DEN was a supervisor for 20 years. Didnt tolerate anyone being rude to pilots. Too often we were the wrong ones! I gained respect for pilots after many jump sets rides in commercial aircraft.
