P was dope in the group but solo he wasn't the same. Then when they linked up again he was back on his shit.

sooperb MIC DOC was always dope! Solo & in the group.. they got history.. from the beats to the verses, EPMD made the soundtrack to fight to, or you could study a college exam to. And dj scratch is one of the best DJ’s of all times!

True, so i was going off of duo's just 2 members i got EPMD, RUN DMC then OutKAST i mean even tho they had dj scratch and run dmc had jmj....now if we go by groups i'd say more then 2 you can take your pic from those you said plus Wu-Tang, LONS etc.

    EPMD.
    Kings.
    True pioneers.
Deeply loved by all that know them.
Yeah, they were a bit ahead of the game. Not much, but a bit. Fair enough.
But what they did with that and the way they did it. Pure class.
    Great combo. Great chemistry. Fire.
Before the whole gangster shit took hold. Maybe not innocence. But a different era.
Absolute Gods. True Gods. Real Gods.
    Hip Hop Royalty.

I saw them perform at the Casa in L.A. back when "You Got's To Chill" was playing all day on KDAY. That night the crowd asked for an encore of that song and even NWA showed up to see them perform. Caught them in Orange County at that area with the circular stage. They and DJ Scratch and their dancers killed it. That's when "So What You Saying" came just came out. If I remembered correctly they performed opposite the 2 Live crew.

They were not doing a west coast vibe they were doing New York HipHop! Beats, Rhymes and Cuts! Aint nobody ever heard of a so called West Coast sound back then. Y'all trying to make it sound like EPMD bit or was influenced by The West Coast when it was actually the reverse. EPMD just said they aint know about no West Coast sound kuz NOBODY DID! kuz y'all didn't have one until EPMD gave it to y'all. Y'all act like only people on the West Coast had ZAPP , OHIO PLAYERS, PARLIAMENT FUNKEDELIC records. Y'all didn't start the Funk sound in HipHop. That was all New York with the JAMES BROWN break beat and bassline samples. The West Coast sound was influenced by EPMD not the other way around.

EPMD as well as Rakim Public Enemy Dela Soul and Biz Markie made Strong Island NY proud. I grew up in New Cassel Westbury L.I and I remember back during the late 80 s all these dudes would come to Westbury Day which was held in New Cassel park. I remember seeing Biz Rakim Flavor Flav and Eric Sermon all in one day and night coming through my old hood New Cassel which is the hood in Westbury. But I think parts of Cali hoods is like Long Island hoods. Ghetto suburbs with nice homes and well kept lawns but a lot of grimy street shit on the low. Not comparing L.i. with Cali with the gangs they birthed. But parts of Cali is like Long Island ghetto suburbs that spit out these ledegenry classic Hip Hop acts like Method Man Biz Markie Dela Soul Craig Mack Leaders of New School Grand Daddy I.U Buster Rhymes and Prodigy frm Moob Deep K Solo Roc Marciano Public Enemy Keith Murray Freddie Foxx Method Dela Soul Prince Paul frm Stesasonic JVC Force just to name of few of L.I. breed acts. What looks quiet ain't really quiet. I'm talking New Cassel Westbury Hempstead Wyndanch Freeport AmityVille Roosevelt Brentwood Central Islip Long Beach Hunington Bellport River Head Bay Shore Coram Glen Cove Rockville center Lakeview Elmont Huntington are suburban hoods that spit out all this heat. Strong Island in the building Nassau to Suffolk County Stand Up.

They don't look any older just different. I love epmd. I heard them first when I had the chance to skate with Ray barbee the pro and he was playing strictly biz on a boombox. I never asked who he was playing cause I didn't want him to know that I didn't know. The only thing I could say too someone to try and figure it out is "skeezoid" and "bozack". Finally figured it out and I still skate to epmd today. Thank you epmd. Didn't know about the shoes but I'm looking for some after this.

The West Coast was listening to Zapp and P Funk music but the West Coast Rappers wasn’t using that sound. EPMD was the first group to use that sound.

Hiphop did have sub genres, but that was when regions and record labels varied in how they interpret their creativity. Now a days everyone sounds alike regardless of where they reign from. Different labels had their own in house producer(s). Today you just go on some platform and download beats from some producer who lives wherever.
Apps are good for monetization, but it kills the creativity of the art form.

No bullshit EPMD was my vibe when I lived out west - they definitely had that West Coat sound - joints like Please Listen to My Demo with the Faze-O sample - that was my vibe when that joint came on KPOO. Man KPOO used to play so much damn EPMD fo real fo real!!!! Definitely one of my favorite groups of all times.
