- Johann Joseph Fux (c. 1660 - 13 February 1741) was an Austrian composer, music theorist and pedagogue of the late Baroque era. His most enduring work is not a musical composition but his treatise on counterpoint, Gradus ad Parnassum, which has become the single most influential book on the Palestrinian style of Renaissance polyphony.

The Overture is outstanding! I see where Telemann and Fasch were influenced.

A composer who indeed deserved to be much more studied (and played with conviction) With such example we can understand why he was the Emperor's composer and amongst the so-called top 10 of J S Bach ("Fux, Caldara, Handel...").
JJ Fux was a real master as you can see - wonderful baroque music :)

Hm, haven't heard of that composition. Neither does the score seem to be on IMSLP - will keep a eye out for it.

@@SPscorevideos Funny that you mention this score - I was already arranging it before you mentioned, however only a section, the Serenade - will do the whole lot now you mention it, but will take time, especially as I am a active transcriber, on Musescore: musescore.com/user/5199981

I don't know why, but those stretched out minims in the Minuet, measure 6 are so funny to me
Not sure if printing error or just the terrible format of my videos back in the day - but it does look amusing.. even worse in some of my even older videos (don't go there, I need to purge all of that content at some point)
Very expertly crafted music without ever becoming academic/pedantic which is sometimes the case in JSBachs' contrapuntal works.
