I ran out of yarn for the limbs of an axolotl recently, I ended up having to get a smaller size of the same color because the larger size was discontinued-
The Joanns near us has horrible lighting I can’t tell you how many times we have gotten a color off shade wise even when bringing the yarn with us! I am hoping that’s not all of their stores!!😊
I never understood Why mom was so insistent on me checking the corresponding Numbers on the yarn i would buy until i made my first sweater and realized half was a shade darker. It absolutely sucks that They cant dye it somewhat similarly so now i always double check for bigger projects
This happened to me with a blanket I made for my mother in law. One of the skeins I used was lighter and I didn’t realize till I finished. I didn’t know this was why!
Give Snorlax a cardigan out of the darker pink, make his arms the cardigan sleeves. It won't be removable but you might be able to fudge it so it looks on purpose.
This is why I always keep the wrapper of the yarns I’m using until I’m finished the project. Then you’d have the dye lot number and possibly be able to find a matching ball of yarn
me too! i also have a 'yarn book' where i crochet a sample (so you can see how the yarn looks crocheted) and tape it next to the label on it's own page, just in case i need it again later
I recommend going to a yarn store and (bring your snorlax) ask if they have that shade. If you don’t find it, maybe make the arm a full covered arm accessory
My roommate crocheted a Snorlax and ran out of yarn too when they had to do the arms. They crocheted a tree branch with berries on it to hide the fact that the arm was a different color
I got an idea - since you already got one arm done, you got some yarn with the correct pink shade. Therefore, if you don't mind the hassle, you can unravel the arm then make two 'upper arms' with the correct pink shade. Use the white yarn (same color as the belly) to make the 'lower arms'. The lower part would look like gloves.
Omg this is so annoying this always happens to me, in ur situation I would just redo the arm with the darker pink and make the other arm dark pink too then add some elements to the snorlax in that dark pink
You could unravel the one arm, and make it white with only the pink on the top/outer side so the hand and inner arm are white. That would leave enough of the correct pink to do both. Since you already used that white. It'll look intentional and cohesive.
i was thinking that she could keep it with one arm. plenty of ppl exist with only one and it would be very cute and good rep :) giving it to a kid would be soo sweet
A technique I use is folding the yarn label flat, punching a hole in it, and slip-knotting a sample scrap onto it, so I have the color name, brand, and an actual swatch of the color all at once. Hope this helped ❣️❣️
Make both the arms matching. Either both arms solid in the new shade, or pull the finished arm back to the point the 2nd arm ends and finish them both in the slightly lighter shade. It will look more consistent and like a design choice than a dyelot mismatch
I say you just keep him like a little blob. Make him into a little Snorlax snowman when the holidays come around by making a little top hat or scarf, and he’ll be the Snorlax snowman.
secret more sinister option: make the arms gradient by starting with the yarn you originally used and use the darker pink towards the base / hands so that it all comes together
I think the yarn being different is actually real neat! I think his arms could be really cute a different color than his body, like an artistic impression. The lighter pink is closer if you want similar, but the darker pink would make a neat contrast. I just tey to see the best in situations like this and run with it. 💕
I’m fairly certain you could also take that lighter pin yarn and tint it using some pink dye to get a closer shade to the one his body is made of. More hassle but at least it’d be closer in color. I know there’s tons of synthetic dyes that should work. Otherwise I’d echo a few people in the comments suggesting either an ombré effect or maybe make one arm different from the other. He can be a very special snorlax.
Always save the wrapper that comes with the yarn to be able to match the dye lot. Also, always get at least one extra skein than the pattern calls for. I usually get 2 extra. Of course if you are making your own pattern it's a little trickier. Your Snorlax is amazing.
Awe! Bless your heart! 😭 I couldn’t imagine… that’s like if you paint your room then realize you need one more can and the color is slightly dark or lighter
suggestion... undo part of his base and transition to the darker color, then use the reclaimed bit to do the upper part of the arms and transition them to darker so it has a two tone effect.
as a fursuit maker, we also have this with fur. every batch is slightly different. and considering fursuits cost a LOT we often reach out to other makers to get the fur we need from a certain batch number to make sure the customer gets the correct colors and not slightly different colors.
Choose one and make both arms with it. Or crochet both arms simultaneusly with the original color and swich to the lighter color at the same point in both arms
This is why I (slightly) prefer knitting 😅 a lot of times you can just go down one column and fix the problem. Also, knitting uses less yarn and is gentler on the yarn if you have to frog it.
That brand tends to switch up the colors a lot… I’ve been knitting a giant blanket with the Bernet blanket yearn in teal dreams for a few years now… The blanket is basically layered in different shades of teal because every time I go to restock on skeins the color is different
Make most of the arm, a blue and the rest of it the tiny bit of pink you have and then you can make it look like a jacket if you do like the little vest thing
When I’m dout, a little bit of rit dye more and some time is how I solve this problem for myself, cause if I’m ordering a mustard green I hope to see some green in there not brown.
I think you should ask other yarn enthusiasts who has some of the correct color to send you their leftovers. Or try another Joanne's because different stores sometimes have different stock. He's awfully cute. I hope he gets arms.
This is why you need the papers, so you have the dye lot and can possibly order that specific one(you can do this fyi) also they usually have nice patterns on them so worth the keep
Yes I say use the darker one for the one arm. Sometimes things were ment to be that way, and I think it's cool, because you have a whole story behind the arm now. Making it unique and a great memory later on. When my daughters stuffed animals get a hole, we pick anything but the same color as the animal. Its their battle scars, they wear them in pride!
Hi🌸 I worked for a yarn company, they taught us to tell the client that if they are going to do a big project they should take extra yarn, because each batch of yarn is a little bit diferent even if it's the same number😯 It"s happens that changes the inking time and makes that color difference, if your store ran out of the batch you bought it would be a matter of luck that you find that same color again🥺
Could use the colour you used on his stomach? I know it isn't true to the colour schemes patterns, but if the wrong shade of pink would itch your brain like it would mine, I myself would bite the bullet. Whatever you choose to do, that Snorlax is adorable and cuddly as is and I hope you're proud of yourself, he looks amazing and like a lot of hours of work and care!
this is why my mom ALWAYS warns me to buy two more then what i think i’ll need and keep the label next to the project! i have been GUT WRENCHED over this

@@mydogeatspuke exactly. And if I'm following a pattern I always buy an extra ball and sometimes two because I crochet tighter sometimes. It really depends on what is going on in my familys lives and how anxious I am. Although, crocheting usually relaxes me. ✌️ ✌️ 💜 💜
@@mydogeatspuke oh Lawd, I just realize what your name is and laughed for the first time today even though I'm in pain! I really like that name honey. Thanks for the laugh.
This is why I bring a small sample to make sure the store has the exact color
You should totally do an arm of each color it builds character and it has a story behind it and the person that gets it will throughly enjoy the conversation piece
OMG I THOUGHT OF THE SAME THING CUDOS TO YOH LOL
I was going to say the same. Make it your own! One of each won't hurt. It makes it even more unique.
i think that she should do two different colour arms so the arms match
@@jsjsjdjdfndndndnthat doesn’t make sense.
I ran out of yarn for the limbs of an axolotl recently, I ended up having to get a smaller size of the same color because the larger size was discontinued-
At least it was the same colour though
If you went with a different color itd almost be like the axolotl lost the limbs and regrew them. morbid but also cool?
The worst is when you're busy with a project and the wool gets discontinued
The light one looks like the same exact pink if you pay attention to the lil yarn hanging!
you could make the arm an entirety different color like he's using a move
that’s what she said-😭
Snorlax used FIRE PUNCH! 😂
My brother taught one of his Snorlaxes all kinds of elemental punches.
where is the first arm i don’t see it
He actually looks complete without so just leave him be, he's gorgeous as is.
Take him in with you to find the perfect match
Hii be at Blakey changed the colors so the color is discontinued 😢
Bernat blanket *
@@Nylaluvscrochet oh no! That's so sad 😢
The Joanns near us has horrible lighting I can’t tell you how many times we have gotten a color off shade wise even when bringing the yarn with us! I am hoping that’s not all of their stores!!😊
@@lydiajacobs3974 wait what??
I also crochet and I agree.you can take apart the first arm and do both arms in one of the colors for a fun effect
I tape a piece of yarn and write it's code in the notebook I use to write the "recipes"
You should do both the hands in the darker pink
Lighter! It’s a less extreme difference and I think it’ll look cute especially if you do both arms in the new yarn
Note to self: if I ever take up crochet or knitting- always buy extra of each material because dye lots change.
That‘s your sign to start a colour journal 😊
I recommend going to a yarn store and (bring your snorlax) ask if they have that shade.
If you don’t find it, maybe make the arm a full covered arm accessory
Yes! This is an amazing idea
My roommate crocheted a Snorlax and ran out of yarn too when they had to do the arms. They crocheted a tree branch with berries on it to hide the fact that the arm was a different color
@@allisonlouie1202 that sounds like the finished product looked really cool!
@@axolotlscarlett7781 it was!! :)
*the urge to buy more yarn that I actually need for a project intensifies*
I got an idea - since you already got one arm done, you got some yarn with the correct pink shade. Therefore, if you don't mind the hassle, you can unravel the arm then make two 'upper arms' with the correct pink shade. Use the white yarn (same color as the belly) to make the 'lower arms'. The lower part would look like gloves.
That's fabulous
Yessss
Niiice
Omg this is so annoying this always happens to me, in ur situation I would just redo the arm with the darker pink and make the other arm dark pink too then add some elements to the snorlax in that dark pink
You could unravel the one arm, and make it white with only the pink on the top/outer side so the hand and inner arm are white. That would leave enough of the correct pink to do both. Since you already used that white. It'll look intentional and cohesive.
Gift the single armed snorlax to a child amputee :)) its perfect that way
i was thinking that she could keep it with one arm. plenty of ppl exist with only one and it would be very cute and good rep :) giving it to a kid would be soo sweet
Wait that would be so cute
where the fuck do i find a child with one arm
That's a nice idea
That's a beautiful idea! I hope she sees your comment.
Being a crocheter, this feels illegal when it happens. That’s all I’m saying.
Take apart the first arm and use the darker shade to make his arms and legs, and any other parts of the body it will look really cute!
I think the lighter pink looks better😊
She doesn't have enough of that though
No the darker one
@@anastasiocarusobruh it’s not a election chill
I like it too
@@Arrow_flash made me snort 😂
A technique I use is folding the yarn label flat, punching a hole in it, and slip-knotting a sample scrap onto it, so I have the color name, brand, and an actual swatch of the color all at once. Hope this helped ❣️❣️
omg ur a genius im gonna do this with all my yarn now xkxjkxn
Make both the arms matching. Either both arms solid in the new shade, or pull the finished arm back to the point the 2nd arm ends and finish them both in the slightly lighter shade. It will look more consistent and like a design choice than a dyelot mismatch
as a crocheter myself i think he looks sooo cute the way he is without arms.. but it you gonna do arms do them in the darker pink as a con
trast
I say you just keep him like a little blob. Make him into a little Snorlax snowman when the holidays come around by making a little top hat or scarf, and he’ll be the Snorlax snowman.
Would be super cute to undo the first arm you made, make the snorlax a little jacket and then use the OG yard to make hands!
Yes I was just about to suggest that! A jacket or sweater would be so adorable
That was my thought!
That's incredibly smart
A cute lil cardigan w strawberrys would look SOOOOO cuteeee
that’s exactly what i thought!!
secret more sinister option: make the arms gradient by starting with the yarn you originally used and use the darker pink towards the base / hands so that it all comes together
I think the yarn being different is actually real neat! I think his arms could be really cute a different color than his body, like an artistic impression. The lighter pink is closer if you want similar, but the darker pink would make a neat contrast. I just tey to see the best in situations like this and run with it. 💕
You could do both, make the outside bit of the arm lighter and the inside of the arm (towards the body) make it darker
This is definitely a big issue because the dye lots can turn out drastically different sometimes and its really frustrating
the lighter pink actually matched that string that was hanging out on the right side which would be your left😊
Always save the wrapper that comes with the yarn to be able to match the dye lot. Also, always get at least one extra skein than the pattern calls for. I usually get 2 extra. Of course if you are making your own pattern it's a little trickier. Your Snorlax is amazing.
You should make it a lighter pink! it looks more specific
Awe! Bless your heart! 😭
I couldn’t imagine… that’s like if you paint your room then realize you need one more can and the color is slightly dark or lighter
she's already cute and perfect without arms

suggestion... undo part of his base and transition to the darker color, then use the reclaimed bit to do the upper part of the arms and transition them to darker so it has a two tone effect.
Just top comment but way more simpler
when you undo the arm the yarn will be very messed up
@@bwlladwit can be. My mom used to take the time to wind it back up into a ball so it'd be pulled back into a more normal shape before reusing things.
@@bekenotsalony2905 the yarn the girl is using isnt a very strong yarn, if you pull it to much it will break.
as a fursuit maker, we also have this with fur. every batch is slightly different. and considering fursuits cost a LOT we often reach out to other makers to get the fur we need from a certain batch number to make sure the customer gets the correct colors and not slightly different colors.
That’s actually genuinely interesting lol
Choose one and make both arms with it. Or crochet both arms simultaneusly with the original color and swich to the lighter color at the same point in both arms
You can do one arm dark pink and one with the light and you can also do the same with the ears. It probably looks good!❤
He looks adorable and cute without any arms! ❤
The biggest struggle is having to frog everything after doing one stitch wrong after doing 40 rows on top of it
This is the one I relate to.
I can’t be bothered… I just do something to secure the hole and leave it 😅
Reasons why its good to check the stitch count after a row frequently 😅
@@sillyface6950 it's also good to check how much yarn you'll need for a project and prepare Incase they run out or are small dye lots.
This is why I (slightly) prefer knitting 😅 a lot of times you can just go down one column and fix the problem. Also, knitting uses less yarn and is gentler on the yarn if you have to frog it.
That brand tends to switch up the colors a lot… I’ve been knitting a giant blanket with the Bernet blanket yearn in teal dreams for a few years now… The blanket is basically layered in different shades of teal because every time I go to restock on skeins the color is different
you can make a prosthetic hand
( grey colour)
or peglegs for arms!!!!
Sometimes the bernat and bernat baby lines have the same names but slightly different color shades. It’s definitely something to keep an eye out for.
Make both arms the darker color and it will look deliberate. 💐
Make most of the arm, a blue and the rest of it the tiny bit of pink you have and then you can make it look like a jacket if you do like the little vest thing
You could make it look like a patch, like a lot of cartoon plushes have. It could look intentional too!
You could ask her to look in previous orders and she could tell you the shade you ordered x
That won't help if it's a different dye lot. The difference can be very noticable
Maybe you should put the darker one in water and see if any of the dye comes out
When I’m dout, a little bit of rit dye more and some time is how I solve this problem for myself, cause if I’m ordering a mustard green I hope to see some green in there not brown.
Hi🌸 I worked for a yarn company, they taught us to tell the client that if they are going to do a big project they should take extra yarn, because each batch of yarn is a little bit diferent even if it's the same number😯
It"s happens that changes the inking time and makes that color difference, if your store ran out of the batch you bought it would be a matter of luck that you find that same color again🥺
You need to take baby Snorlax for a walky and match them up in person. ❤
You could possibly use the white you used in the center. That's what I usually do.
From a fellow crocheter I think the lighter color will blend in more or complement the body
you can use the same color that matches with its tummy!
Give him a sweater and make his hands lighter, most people won't know the difference ❤
“I finished one arm”- did you? Because I really just don’t see it- am I blind??? 💀😭😅
probably just hasn't put it on the rest of the body yet
@@ileanasong6612 oh yeah, I didn’t think of that lol 😂
Yeah oftentimes arms have to be individually sewn on the body later while the rest of the body is naturally 1 piece.
