If you are a beginner trophy hunter this will give you guidance on what to strive for to create an amazing trophy list. I have seen several trophy lists with high completion rates and lots of platinums but only 5 or so ultra rares. So on the surface it looks impressive. Meanwhile I have a low completion rate and only 58 platinums but at least I have over 50 ultra rares.
Perfect example of how ultra rares matter :)

This was a really interesting video mate. The thing that I regret was playing too many PS3 games back in the day and not going back to finish those platinums off. However, I'm slowly rectifying that with being a lot more selective with games that I buy. I really love the extra challenge and value for money you get with earning trophies and platinums. It's great to see gaming becoming mainstream too. Great video mate! :)

That’s why I don’t put any stock into completion percentage: it’s just encourages you to ignore games you might otherwise play, and really doesn’t mean a thing as shown by this TH-camr himself…
He-like many others-literally has a second account with a lower completion percentage; which ultimately, is just a misleading fudging of the numbers.
All a high completion percentage means is that someone’s hiding their true completion, or they’re hyper-focusing on which games will let them keep it.

I've been playing games since I was a little kid, and back then I was too young to care about getting trophies, so I have a really massive plethora of PS3 games that I barely played on my account. Unfortunately, I no longer own a PS3 because the one I had died, so all of those PS3 games are forever staining my completion rate, which is sitting at a low 43%. However, I've gotten some platinums that I'm really proud of in the last few years, including some ultra rare ones. I personally never let someone's completion rate define their trophy list because you never know what circumstances led to that low percentage.
I switched over to PlayStation about 6 months ago and forgot my login details for my old account so I’ve got 50 plats but 40 are easy plats. I’ve vowed to not play any easy games until I’ve hit 100 plats and then I’m gonna try keep over a 50% hard to easy game ratio. That’s what’s most important for my personal collection but I agree when I’m looking at other peoples profiles I always looks at ultra rare trophies and number of plats! Thanks matey! Yeah this video is more for when you are reviewing someone else list or you want to a build a god tier trophy collection. Playing how you want to play is the most important.
I’m inclined to agree with the ultra rares having more weight. The only thing that would diminish this would be the player population. I’m currently working on Blackguards 2, which only has 980 players, 8 of which have the plat. When I earn the plat, I will end up making the trophy less rare by .1%. There’s actually a chance that the rarity will go above 1% by the time I get the plat since another Hunter is also working the game. So I would say not only rarity but also the number of people who have the trophy as well. A 70% earned trophy could only have 70 people who earned it because only 100 people deigned to play a game or DLC. I would consider that “common” trophy to be quite rare. I also wish that there would be an adjustment if trophies become unobtainable due to server closure. I actually keep a separate list that accounts for games that 1) have unobtainable trophies or 2) have DLC I don’t own. Gives me a better idea of what my true completion rate is since I do a lot on PSNow and DLC isn’t always included in old PS3 games.

I've been trophy hunting since 2014, had to start a new account in 2017 so I'm always learning new information and seeing what others are talking about to make myself better at it.

I think PlayStation should change the leveling up with trophies on the PSN profile. They associate a certain number to bronze, silver, gold and platinum trophies. The problem with this system is that it's just an arbitrary number and any game can have absolutely easy and given gold trophies and platinums.
In my opinion the leveling up should have an algorithm tied to two criteria: 100% completion & trophy rarity.
Completion 95% and my trophy rare is 75%, I do have a lot of easy guys but I also have lots of hard ones too. But I started a new account recently and sticking to a list I’m proud of. Like someone can have 1000 easy platinums but I take one decent hard plat any day

I tried some of the Ratalaka Games and i lost interest in trophies after so i decided not to play anymore of them

My trophy list is filthy. I have about 55 platinums but so many unfinished games from years ago when I wasn’t a trophy hunter so I wouldn’t really want you to ever have a look at my list. The only thing I think you’d be proud to see is 100% complete all Dark/Demons Souls, Bloodborne and Sekiro games, new and old versions. And of course Spiderman 100% 😁😂

Nice video bro! I started trophy hunting 3 months ago on my account that's 6 years old so my completion percentage is pretty awful. It's getting better since I started cleaning some old games like tlou or rayman legends and now im working seriously on rdr2 wich it's taking me a lot of time. Regards from south America! :)

Good video im a aveage gamer now im nearly 50. I only started my psn acount june last year have over 6200 trophies dont know if thats good or not. Have 146 plats mind u have a crap load of so call easy plats have a good few decent few plats mate

thanks for the cool video. I respect your opinion, but i think this approach on the topic can cause Beginner Trophy Hunters to quit trophy hunting. Here's why:
Focusing on a high completion percentage as a beginner can have some negative effects on gaming habits. Games should not be chosen because of their doability in concerns of the trophy list. Especially as a beginner, you should focus on playing games you have fun with. I'm not a trophy hunter myself, and i don't mind having games in my list with only 1 trophy. I tried them out and experienced something new to find out, if the genre/series suits me. Especially with PS now, i gathered some "lonely" trophies. Pro Trophy Hunters whould make a blank account for this. I consider my list as a diary and embrace the failure.
Having "good" games in the collection is fine, i agree. I personally have only 7 platinum. 6 games are my all-time-favourites. No. 7 is concrete genie :-)
Collecting ultra rare trophies isn't a goal a Beginner should focus on. There's a reason why this trophies are so rare. Most of them are brutally hard, i think. Beginners should do themselfes a favour and play titles they can grow on as a player.
It's just my 2 cents on the topic. Keep on creating great content.

Great video! I don't think that completiob percentage is most relevant however. I love the Xbox 360, and as a collecter so many games aren't completable.

My trophy list is private, so the only value I care about is from my own accord or my friends. I used to be a completionist fiend before 2020, then I retired from overall easy games & since then my completion rate has decreased slightly but I have 50x more notorious plats to be proud about and recall. Which is such a rewarding sensation.

I have 5 ultra rare platinums (i only have 22 plats at the moment) and they're all from the LittleBigPlanet series. I have plats for all main littlebigplanet games except karting because of the server shutdown, they're difficult but i'm so proud of them.

For me I don’t care if you have easy platinums or hard ones what I look for is how many platinums your have and how many games have Ben 100%. People that have lots of platinums easy or hard tells me they love collecting trophies even if it’s easy. Then I look at the 100% on the trophy lists and that tells me they were into the game enough to want too 100% it. When I see a profile with lots of games but like 1 or 2 platinums and lots of unfinished trophy lists that shows me that they are probably a causal gamer and don’t care about collecting trophies.
191 trophies out of 3078 trophies with 5 being under 1% and having a completion rate of 98.47%

Interesting video. I'm aiming for 50% completion at the moment. Like many others I play many games and can often be time poor. My list of shame (unfinished games) is high spanning back to the ps3 days. I've vowed not too let this happen on ps5 (It will lol). I'm of to psnprofiles to see how shameful the list is...

I think the rarest trophy is the platinum for idle champions

I think it’s because Idle Champions is 100% online trophies and takes 6 months to complete. Maybe the fear of a shutdown in the middle of it would be keeping people away. SSX is mostly online but can get done in 2 weeks. Shockingly rare 100% though. Probably because it just sold well to everyone in 2012. Its all about how many people who don’t go for 100% but still sync to an account 🤷♂️
currently in the middle of getting that one. about 20% done so far.
also, according to psn profiles, the psn rarity is .5% but the psnprofiles rarity is 5%

I like to look at the Average Rarity on the stats page on PSN profiles. Generally I try and keep mine below 40% 😊

I think i only have like 11 ultra rares one is the platinum for the forest then the other 10 are random tropgies for payday 2 that are somehow all under 5%
My completion rate is so bad. Only 37% and just started working through my backlog this year but I have 88 plats and 171 ultra rates
just pick a couple of games on your list you enjoyed, you'll get there. See if you can get to 50%! realistic goal :)
Would the average trophy rarity not also be a factor in deciding if a trophy list stands out? A game might have a UR plat
trophy, but you still need to tackle the rest of the list to gain it.

I have 110 platinums and probably about 40 are ultra rares some are very rare and I have a lot of commons but I quit the commons and I’m gonna go for hard ones

I’m on 16 plats with no indie games and I’m not planning on ever getting them. I’m just working through some old games I’ve got, such as Spyro, which are my easiest ones out of the list.

I really don't care about completion percentage at all because its arbitrary and doesn't actually represent how much you've achieved at all. Mine is really low but that's just cause I've tried out a load of games that I didn't bother sticking with, but I still have a whole bunch of plats that took me a lot of time and effort

@@PlatinumBro to a point, there's little consistency between the difficulty of platinums so the raw quantity doesn't translate one-to-one but each specific trophy indicates their own corresponding accomplishment

Hello Platinumbro, I've subbed to the channel. I consider myself an average trophy hunter. I only really actively started since covid came but got me 45 plats now. I probably have some noob questions which I hope you could answer though. My psn profiles says I've only collected 3 ultra rare trophies, but if I check my trophies from the last of us remastered on my console it says that 18 of the trophies alone in this single game are ultra rare. Also on my console it says the percentage of people that earned the platinum for the last of us remastered is 0.4% while on my psn profile it says that the percentage is 5.35% and only a very rare trophy. Are ps3 and ps4 data not combined on the ps4 console trophy stats or what's the reason that these stats differ so much on each source? Why are my ultra rares on the console not considered ultra rares on psn profiles? Sorry if I sound stupid I really have no clue 🤣
hey dude welcome. That is quite a common confusion. So the rarity on PSNprofiles is rarity of only the players on PSNprofiles not all playstation accounts. While the console tracks it across every single player who has played the game. Because psnprofiles is full of trophy hunters it shows the rarity for trophy hunters only. Most people do not go for platinums and therefore nearly all platinums are very rare on the console.

I could start a new account but I don’t want to do my first platinum again (even though it was only like a 10 hour platinum). I’m working on spider-man right now. I tried god of war but I couldn’t help thinking about those valkyries. The reason my completion rate is so low is because I back out of a platinum really easily. I swear I’ve tried a platinum but then backed out so many times. That happened for Ratchet & Clank, Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War and Bendy and the Ink Machine. That was only some of them. But I also have a ps now subscription so I can’t really get a new account. What should I do about the ps now problem?
