Her analysis of her character is very poignant; it's intellectual especially with the association of the character's name 'Violet' and 'violent'.

I am 50, I grew up with a mother that was very similar mother if not worse. Violet didnt seem like she was physically abusive like my mom, however this is a tough pill to swallow, no pun intended! I have literally watched this movie at least a dozen times because a few of the scenes depicted the very core of my family. Eat your fucking fish scene, and the funeral dinner scene. Ive never seen a movie hit so close as if im a fly on the wall in my mothers and fathers house. My dad was very passive and quiet just like the dad. My brother and I are convinced our dad intentionally wrapped his car around a tree last winter and it killed him eventually. He lived with my mother

You know I understand getting burnt out on a particular performer, but none of the previous opinions of ms.streep was horrible in her portrayal for this character , having said that are you people insinuating that she should not exercise her craft to make room for others? That seems absurd to me. She as well as the whole cast was I think phenomenal. I also relate to the family disfunction part, although I didn't know my mother but my father was violet for sure. I was always amazed at how it could turn so violent so quickly, referring to my childhood.

I think shes the most talented as good as jodie foster is some of her accents are dodgy. meryl streep is brilliant and diverse in them

I don't like that the host is sitting on a chair. I think he should have to stand.

Can we get a break from Ms. Streep? Just for a little while. Is there anything she turns down? The quality control seems to be non-operational these days.

The other side of the coin is paying to see more stressed out privileged white people act badly-in both senses of the word. And she can stop narrating audiobooks anytime. Her family obviously never sees her.

I hear you. There's got to be other people around. And her work is so dubious these days.

I know, let's see some of these roles get offered to Susan Sarandon, Ellen Burstyn and Co. Plenty of mature female actresses who are equally talented barely getting a look-in.
