- Stiller and Meara, Part 2 of 2. The famed comedy team of Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara talk about their 57 years together in show business and their separate acting careers.
Theater Talk is a series devoted to the world of the stage. It began on New York television in 1993 and is co-hosted by Michael Riedel (Broadway columnist for the New York Post) and series producer Susan Haskins.
The program is one of the few independent productions on PBS and now airs weekly on Thirteen/WNET in New York and WGBH in Boston. Now, CUNY TV offers New York City viewers additional opportunities to catch each week's show. (Of course, Theater Talk is no stranger to CUNY TV, since the show is taped here each week before its first airing on Thirteen/WNET.)
The series is produced by Theater Talk Productions, a not-for-profit corporation and is funded by contributions from private foundations and individuals, as well as The New York State Council on the Arts.
Tape Date: 10/29/2010

instaBlaster.
So funny ! Mr . Stiller reminds me of my father -in-law who grew up in the lower East side . There is something so real and funny about their generation !!
RIP Meara. You are wonderful!!
🔥These 2 were absolutely crazy .I Love it!..Meara and Stiller..🔥
They put family first, and each other, and still had a great working life. They did it right. Another great generation.
I love the wide shot to see every one's reactions simultaneously, director, for future ref..:) Thanks for this. Happy New Year:)
I can't get over how much Susan Haskins reminds me and even looks so much like Sally Fields. I wonder if they are related. Loved Anne Meara and Jerry Stiller since forever. It was so sad when she passed away... now he has gone to meet up with his love! May they be spreading the laughter through out the Heavens!
LOLZ I had just commented to my mother how much S. Haskins looked like Sally Fields WHEN she was smiling!
@@loyddodge7073 Glad it's not just me who sees it! :)
This 2-part interview is much like their act...a riot! 😂
We lost a big piece of ourselves when we lost Stiller & Meara.
Jerry is talking, Anne is interrupting and somehow I kept expecting Jerry, at any moment, to holler out-----------SERENITY NOW!
She gets on my nerves
@@vm1876 It's all part of the Schtick.
She’s lighthearted funny and has a better memory. It perks him up. He’d be too serious without her. It works and he likes it. I do too!
I miss both of them. And I could listen to them talk for hours.
Not to mention that Ann was stunning when she was younger, and not bad in her 80s.
" I ordered two", Hilarious! ( must watch the very end).
16:38 Ms. Anne Meara wrote a play call "After Play"
19:19 "They are dead!" [K's Note: I watch this pair of insightful "Theatre Talk" videos on May 11th, the day of the passing of Mr. Jerry Stiller (1927-2020) even as Ms. Anne Meara (1929-2015) passed on a few years ago. I'm still learning from these two wise people!]
P.S. I'm a new poet and I was inspired Jerry's passing to write two poems. I will share one line from one of each of my poem.
From my poem "A Good #Obituary" has this line: "A good #Obituary is a good ending that help us think carefully how better to tell the stories of our own repeated meetings with Triumphs and Disasters and treat these impostors just the same."
From my poem "#Obit is Never For" has this line: "For what is important is not what we own, it is what we leave to others."
Thanks again to Jerry & Anne for sharing your insights. And thanks to cunytv75 for posting these videos!
Poor Jerry couldn’t get a word in edgewise. I wonder if their marriage was the same. He had to have a lot of patience with her.
Fascinating story about how Jerry had to find the 'Archie' character.
2 wonderful ppl, Anne & Jerry!
Wonderful!!! Spicy!!!
Wonderful!
Jerry will be missed. He always made me laugh. The cereal scene on King of Queens made me pee my pants.
Brilliant !!!!!!
Anne is sooooo hard to take!
Rip To Jerry Stiller & Anne Meara, Still Miss You Both😢
Now I'm telling you what's the truth, it just doesn't get any better than this. :-)
That said, if that’s the way she was at home all those years, how did he ever stand it?!😬
Amen
Here’s what I learned. Jerry Stiller, an AMAZING, KIND, HUMBLE, TALENTED MAN. His wife, Night-MEARA-ISH..
Bella Biesel she was a smart, talented actor and funny comedian and they were together so long and worked so hard as a couple that they could finish each other’s sentences. They had a dry sense of humor that could make one think they were angry when they were not. That kind of love is rare and special and not easy to recognize by the dysfunctional standards of today. If you see her as a “nightmare” then you need to re-evaluate your frame of reference. They were deeply in love and had a special relationship. The next time you want to make an off-the-cuff comment, maybe make an educated one that is not just for the purpose of highlighting you to be funny but that actually something that other people would want to read.
This is supposed to be "another week" and they stayed in the same clothes.
What is going on with Ann Meara's neck? She appears to have major thyroid problems?
❤️🌊🌼✨
So Anne wrote The Sixth Sense. Huh.
I don't see this "wonderful chemistry " between them,oj
It shows you the racism in America at the time..Amazing that back then mentioning a popular group because they were white talking about blacks..why didn't they followed up with something on race. White people overlooking that imperative point back then into whats going on now. Yes, they are comedians, but I think they missed a moment to touch on an issue plagued by white folks. Jerry would have answered them..I wanted to hear their point of view on Race in America..This is what is called complicit bias..they focused on their comedy..I mean their President was a Black man ..lost moment. Sorry to be astute. But,it was a lost moment with those two Iconic comedians/Actors.
Take the stick out of your ass! You're full of shit.....
@@peterjandros2173 Yeah I know the truth fucking hurts. That is America. I understand some of us are in denial and still complicit with egregious actions, Because it doesn't affect them. Yeah..I get it. This is America.
She ruins the interview
