“Richard was by my side during two of the most important moments of my career. In August 2000, before official production had even begun on Potter, we filmed a shot outside the Dursley’s, which was my first ever shot as Harry. I was nervous and he made me feel at ease. Seven years later, we embarked on Equus together. It was my first time doing a play but, terrified as I was, his encouragement, tutelage and humour made it a joy. In fact, any room he walked into was made twice as funny and twice as clever just by his presence. I am proud to say I knew him.” Daniel Radcliffe
R.I.P Richard Griffiths, a fabulous actor that I enjoyed watching In The History Boys at the National Theatre some years back now. Gone but Never Forgotten.
Two of my favorite actors. As an acting coach myself, I had the pleasure of performing the role of Alan in a local community production. It was literally life changing and such a complex role. I have always loved Peter Shaffer though.. especially "Amadeus". I have such respect for Daniel.. doing this role so brilliantly and right after the Potter fame. It was ballsy on so many levels. To tackle the role of Alan at 16 is amazing to me. Richard of course is fantastic.. I adored him in History Boys.. as I also did the role of Dakan on college and met Richard briefly. I'm also a hopeless Potter-head. Also Daniel is amazing in musical theatre too. Merrily We Roll Along was spectacular and his ability to do fast patter songs is fantastic. RIP Richard. We love and miss you. (Takes out his Ravenclaw wand in salute)
Richard is a chameleon. He sounds nothing like he did in the potter movies. He is such an amazing actor on broadway and other movies. I am astonished by his level of skill and depth in acting
Correct. Even though Dan is still young @ the time of this interview, he has what 4?5? HP films under his belt. He's witnessed the massive fan reaction during premiers, so he KNOWS he's perceived as the star of the franchise. He's also conducted enough interviews to know how journalists like to break the ice with humour. In this case, 'verbal irony', where one says something that is Completely the Opposite of what is true. I saw How2Succeed last fall - his comic timing was excellent.
Okay this interview was during the phase when Dan resembled Elijah Wood. Strange never noticed that when I was watching the HP movies. But he's all grown up now in 2015 and I'm loving it. RIP Mr. Richard Griffiths what an amazing career and life he's had.
The 'mix-up' was intentional. The hosts were being a bit sarcastic, or, to borrow a phrase Dan used later in this interview, "to wrong foot people", (introduce something surprising, or unexpected) Dan and Richard's laughter at the 1:12 mark is proof they were in on the joke...
To celebrate the 50th plus Anniversary of Peter Schaffer's epic drama, someone ought to make a special celebratory calendar or picture book entitled NAKED BOYS OF EQUUS. Peter Firth will be Mr. January while Daniel Radcliffe can be Mr. December. 😂😅
Squeaky little thing, Daniel Radcliffe. He would be nowhere without the HP film franchise and he's nothing to write home about in that. Richard Griffiths is a towering actor in comparison.
He had radiation therapy to fix his fast metabolism he was painfully thin as a child his metabolism became weak and he gained alot of weight he didn't eat alot of food everyday...

RIP Mr. Richard Griffiths what an amazing career and life he's had.
I am so pleased that Equus is making a comeback.
They must've been amazing friends.
Great actor, especially when he was in pie in the sky and withnail and I...
Rip riposa in pace attore bravissimo
22:43....music to my ears.
22:43
What cameras did they use to film this? Because it looks like this was shot in the mid 90's.
Respect the 90's.
I think it's a shoot to keep the classic style. A touch to leave a charm.

Fun fact: Richard Griffiths has the same birthday as Harry Potter.
Wow
amezing
🖤
JUSTICE
rip
The hosts were snobbish towards Dan. I love Richard and Dan's rapport though. ❤️
I think I've a good idea why Shaffer came all the way upstairs lol.
was that Mike Pinder ?
So that means Dan and Richard knew the hosts were joking?
I'm sure it's been written before, but I hope you people realise what cunny actually means??
I mean 24:43
rest in peace uncle vernon i know in the harry potter movie u always use to be mean but at the end of the day its only acting haha
Richard could have been doctor who.
1emmain: Your comment about Daniel Radcliffe is shameful.
They mixed up the actors. Daniel is the face of the Harry Potter franchise and Richard plays the minor role. Doesn't anybody ever get it right?
It was a joke
That woman is a wee bit condescending, she got on my nerves...
They utterly destroyed the work. What a shame
Squeaky little thing, Daniel Radcliffe. He would be nowhere without the HP film franchise and he's nothing to write home about in that. Richard Griffiths is a towering actor in comparison.
Dan Radcliff is hell of a lot better actor now than he was back then
You can say that about any famous actor lol
Too obese to watch any of his show. Imagine if this is a woman actor, people will be outraged.
He had a medical condition that caused him to gain weight and make it hard to get it off.
He had radiation therapy to fix his fast metabolism he was painfully thin as a child his metabolism became weak and he gained alot of weight he didn't eat alot of food everyday...
