I 100% agree with you it's absolutely disgusting that they're allowed to cut down trees just to build houses they should be respecting nature as well as supplying homes there was no reason to cut those trees down at all they were nowhere near the houses for cutting them down was a bit pointless in my opinion.
Had a widebeam boat in London for 11 years - that I lived on part time - and loved it! Much bigger than a narrowboat - but both lovely. You'll get the hang of it. Quickest way to slow down = get a boat.
Me and my wife had our honeymoon on the llangollen canal, in November 2012.....was simply the best trip ever, we've done it 3 or 4 times since, I'm used to driving vans, lorry's and big agricultural kit, but like you said, the first time you control a canal boat, the first set of locks that you do, are certainly a bit daunting. It's still our favorite canal's, and we've done several over the years. Glad you enjoyed it 👍

As an avid narrowboat person, I hire three a year, my first time OMG it was hard on I was so nerves every time, but now it's so easy and so lovely, I can see you guys doing this full-time.

Hello you lot, Great to see you've had a go at Narrowboat life. We now live on our Narrowboat after spending 2+ years building her. Before that we traveled for 8 years around 56 countries. First in our Motorhome around 46 countries in Europe, Morocco and Turkey. We then sold our Van and done 6 months in a tent (harsh at our age) around New Zealand and the Cook Islands. Back packing was next through some of Asia before flying to Australia. Buying a Hilux and an off road camper trailer we did the Big Lap of Australia for a year. All our traveling was truly amazing but we now had grandchildren and the pull was getting harder not to be with them. So we came up with the idea of living on a Narrowboat and continually cruising the canals for half of the year and travelling abroad the rest. The difference in the pace of life is hard to get used to at first but we soon got used to it 🤣. As you found out like us it still has its stresses 🤣🤣🤣. Families we have met along the canals have been really happy. We think if there was a way you could combine both Traveling by road and Cruising on the inland waterways it would be a great choice. I think just cruising might become a bit boring after a while at your ages. We are now 60 and 58 so having some time for a slower pace suits us well. Best of both worlds would be perfect. Good luck with everything you do, you are giving your kids a great life👍

Had a narrow boat for 6 years sadly out grew it well the kids did. Got a motorhome but desperately trying to save to get back on the water. Yes you can get more places in the van but theres no feeling like boat life slow pace rocking to sleep fire going in winter. Cheers for the video

Looked like you had good weather. Don't think you'd like that so much in winter, when your outside steering the boat, opening locks in the pouring rain and freezing cold. The lorry gives you so many more options.

Hi guys we met you in Spain when we got blocked in as they put a market up around all of the motorhomes …., we have just bought our own narrowboat and are currently fitting it out over this winter going to be on the water in spring 2025 …. We sold our boat at the beginning of the year after 10yrs. As much as we loved it, a fantastic experience, it had become a chore and a bore. We have a house and now a van, and just love the van so much. I wouldn't recommend getting rid of your van for the boat. We were actually in Whitchurch last weekend, been Hebden Bridge, Howarth and Ramsbottom the last couple of days. Logistics a massive ball ache for boating. It's always an adventure though and that is what life is about.
I love you guys. Great parents and lovely children. My favorite (I'm not their parent, so I'm allowed to have a favorite) is Piper. She has a charming mix of being shy, but sometimes comes out of her shell and displays a surprising confidence. Lovely girl. I enjoyed the narrow boat experience, and Iceland. I live on a narrow boat and at this time of year it's common to get leaves on the propeller but a short burst of reverse thrust often clears it. Another reason for sluggish response is shallow depth of water which the Llangollen canal is known for also as you are travelling upstream there is the current to consider the Llangollen canal is one of the few canals with a continuous flow of water a bit like a river
We had a family NB that my father in law bought in 1965, ex GUCC (Grand Union Canal Company) 72 ft working boat named Bournemouth as it was a Town Class. Loads of great memories, but things change, moorings and boat licences have rocketed and more restrictions are introduced all the time. Sold the boat in 2014 and have spent most of the time touring with our pickup and demountable camper ever since. Definitely more flexibility and not as expensive.
Hi, we have a narrowboat after van ,ife for nearly 2 years, the decision that tipped it for us was constantly looking for parks, without a y height restrictions, and the cost of fuel,so we bought a 62ft boat,been living on board for nearly a year and it's totally amazing 😊,yes there is a .arge cost ut if find the right boat yard sellers some set up a payment plan, we also have a car which can can helpful ie shopping and seeing family and friends, but you are looking for a safe place to park up, but as on canals you have plenty of pubs,so it's just a case of popping in and asking,normally have a drink or bite to eat out of respect and a thank you,but a part from that life on the canals is so beautiful and heart warming, best of luck to you and your family...
So funny what you're saying about 'driving' the boat. I was a biker & a driving instructor, put me in a boat & I go to jelly! Like you say, it goes no more than 4mph, how hard can it be?! People have no idea how hard it is & yet some folks make it look super easy. Having said all that, I'm buying myself a narrowboat! Yes, you read that right! 🤣 I know you'll appreciate that though because it's easily to fall in love with moving your little home about & the scenery is stunning! & guess where it'll be moored up? I used to fancy narrowboat life, and we live near the Trent & Mersey canal where we walk every day but the more videos I watch of narrowboat life the less it appeals to me. Water shortages, canal breaches, lock repairs, blacking, mooring fees, the list goes on. In the 3 days it took to get to the Pontcysyllte aquaduct from Whitchurch, I can be in Portugal. I'll stick to gongoozling as others wrestle with locks.
We did that on the Norfolk Broads and in Ireland in the Shannon. Loved it, realy loved, no crashes but if i do that fulltime i would choose to do from the Netherlands to start so you can go down to hole europa.
I watch a couple on yu tube who live on a narrow boat, and they enjoy the pace and life. It would be an amazing chance but the downside would be your only travelling on the canals and with the van the kids have a wider variety of scenery. Keira you'll cope with the locks, so enjoyed this video.

I haven’t been on a narrow boat but a very small motor cruiser and what o moved was the peacefulness and the view you don’t normally get oh homes etc. Boat life v lorry life? Both have their pros and cons but personally think the lorry is better until the kids are a little olderd

We did the Norfolk Broads once. It was a great experience, I think we did about 10 days. Don't think I could live full time on a boat though. I prefer the flexibility of the open road. I did crash the boat outside a packed beer garden which was extremely embarrassing, I can still hear the reaction of everyone as it happened, there was a collective "oooh" and gasps as the boat mounted the embankment briefly. 😂😂😂

@@Touringwiththekidsthe biggest thing is you can't get where you want to go! Going to visit my parents in Thurrock (starting from anywhere) was down the Coventry Canal, onto the Oxford Canal, through Dukes Cut onto the Thames, change the propeller for a much faster one, stop in the Lee Valley in East London & catch 3 buses for the last bit. The Grand Union Canal actually goes into fairly-central London but then stops, all round there is 2, 3, 4 boats wide lashed to each other & you can expect your boat to be adrift when you get back to it if you're away more than 3 or 4 days.
We have a house, caravan and a widebeam. To be fair we brought the boat to live on while we renovated the house. We use the caravan to tour the UK weekends and summer holidays. The house is now up for sale and deciding whether to sell the widebeam and buy a narrowboat to be able to live on it and cruise the network also sell the caravan and buy a campervan. In the winter put the boat into a marina for 3 months and take off in the van to warmer climates in Europe. Best of both worlds. Does that make sense? Great vlog as usual. Thank you. 😊Howard
It certainly looked like an almost magical trip. I could barely watch the high level cruising, and can totally understand how walking across the bridge would be for others, not me. Walking round the house is challenging these days, even with walls to bounce off. My boating days are well past before they ever even started, except when are sampled second hand by watching others have a wonderful time in the quiet countryside..
Hi Guys love the video just wanted to say I loved on a narrow boat 10-15 years ago and loved it once I got the hang of strewing and I actually enjoyed doing the locks the most daunting bit was when passing boats on both sides especially if it was narrow or on a slight bend it scared me at first but as they say practice makes perfect 😊 I now do van life and to be honest they both have their positives and both have the odd negative! I enjoyed the slower pace of life on the canals and the best part of boat life is almost every other boater will offer help and advice which is invaluable! I’ve been watching your channel for quite some time and what I do no is your are such a lovely little family so weather your on a boat or in your lorry your content will be great! The one thing I will say is you’ve obviously created an audience from your van to your lorry so I think a change to a boat would draw a slightly different audience but also keeping your already subscribers so going to a boat would increase your subscribers again which would mean a few more pennies which may come in helpful 😊 any way like I said your are such a genuine little family showing your travels in real time whatever choice you make you will always be winners 😊 wishing you lots of luck with your future whatever it may be 😊

I love how you are able to make life an adventure. Most of us are stuck in the 9-5, although for myself I'm stuck tramping in my work truck during the week and get to see the wife at the weekend.
You can take them across the water to France , just make sure you have an experienced sea fairer on board with you. Loved this episode, try a wide beam next time for comparison, keep up the great entertainment,
I have watched a lot of narrowboat channels on You Tube and one difference to van lifers is that canal travelling is mostly in the UK - there are Canals in Europe and the USA but not practical to take your home with you. A plus is the slower lifestyle and the camaraderie of the boating community

l currently living on my narrow boat full sine july 2021 and l love it lm a constant cruiser moving around every 14 days wish l did it a long time before glad you had the chance to try canal life love the vlogs you do take care from me and my dog called spud xx
@@Touringwiththekidsthe canals ice over in winter, you have to smash the ice with an axe to get moving & if you're in anything other than a steel narrowboat you have to smash it every morning to be sure it won't sink you.
@@Touringwiththekidsgetting buffeted by day boats going too fast or too close & smashing you onto submerged rocks & shopping trolleys. This sinks many fibreglass boats & doesn't do any boat any good.
for me the only bad points is the rain and muddy tow paths as a rule of thumb in the winter months if it does ice over if thick the canal and river trust dont expect you to move because it could cause damage to your blacking which is a protective paint to help stop the hull from rusting plus any large sheets of ice pushing up against fibre glass boats. LIke anything life forward planning helps as you know by living in the motorhome

We spent a week on the Broads, without any disasters. We always stopped at pubs (1976), it was sunny and warm. We didn't have any kids with us, and I spent a lot of time sunbathing and studying (successfully) for an exam while supping on a pint or three! I'm not sure if I could handle winter on a boat with the constant damp. Travelling round Europe in a van for three years was, for me, more preferable, although the boat was a nice break from reality.
I live on a 58 ft narrowboat and a solo boater and moored just outside Whitchurch.. ideally one bit of advice is to have longer than a week on a less challenging canal ... hope you all enjoyed this way of life ..

It’s a great way of life if you were to move onto the water the kids would have a great time I know many family living abroad. But as you say the weather can be….. well UK 😂. I really enjoyed that such a nice way of life and you can still do everything with the kids inside one thing I would say is when the kids are outside on the boat put the lifejackets on just in case 👍
I've always thought I would like to have a go at a narrow boat. Untill now lol. Not really thought you both did well. Going across the water viaduct looked a bit nerve wrecking. We have been in a motorhome for years and still love it. We always find beautiful woods and offen walk along the canals. But being able to stop and and go anywhere and aboard is the best. Love video

Live on a wide beam for the past 6 years. Awesome way of life. Obviously limited where you can go as opposed to a narrow boat but for living it’s hard to beat! It’s probably easier than van life in the uk and just a more relaxing way to go. Would you be able to cope without the European trips? In an ideal world I guess you have both, it’s the water for me!

Great to see some places I have explored and walked such as aquaduct, tunnel, cafe etc. when out in campervan. How awful cutting all those trees down though
@ we spent some time with them last winter in Spain, as they also had a camper van as well as the boat they were able to still go off and have time away and travel. I think the narrow boat is quite restrictive as you can only travel the same canal system for a certain distance, if you want to use other systems you then need to transport the boat via road to another canal system and also then need different canal licences etc. but for them I think it came down to the restriction of space, narrow, low ceiling, and constant damp problems especially in winter. I think that’s what I remember but could be wrong. Worth a chat to them, they’re a nice friendly couple and always happy to help. Whatever you guys decide I’m sure you’ll still live life to the full, always enjoy your vlogs and travels. We’re mega happy today as 5 minutes ago we hit 1000 subs 😊😂🎉🎉
@@thebebbsbeatI understand there's 2 canal networks covering most of Europe & they're joined by a fascinating device, it's a canal on a massive slope & 2 very large railway locomotives tied together by a _huuuge_ bulldozer blade push the water uphill along with whatever is floating on it. I would want to try it several times with a hire boat before I risked any boat of mine being pushed sideways up hill!

We live really near Whitchurch and Ellesmere! We have a campervan but I would prefer a narrow boat because when you are travelling you can do stuff. There is a good park with animals under the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct! Love Beth
My favourite TH-camrs in my patch! I live in Shropshire...and travel up to Chirk and Ellesmere a lot! Knowing what you know now, if you started again...and you were on the verge of selling a house and doing something completely different, would you go for life in the water or on the road? I know both have pros and cons but thats where I'm at at the moment. I drive long distances for a living so having a bit of a break on the canal sounds appealing but id love to able to take the kids all over Europe too. No? In a marina, as we like to make sure its safe when left Just done 4 months greece, Albania etc in our old transit camper. Wouldn't leave the boat on cut for that length of time . If you need any info just get in touch. Love the blogs by the way.
No guys, don't do it. You'd get bored of it. Canal life is fine for a while but is ultimately too restrictive. Stay with the lorry and chase the sunshine. 😎👍
We did both van and boat life, decided to do boat life when we had kids loved both but all the muddy winter trecks on tow path and fetching coal, shopping etc and going out to do stuff in winter was a struggle, i think it wojld be easier in a marina. People on canals are so lovely. Why not do it for a few years or maybe put boat in a marina and go travelling sometimes. Canal life is def in the slow lane but wildlife is amazing.

Hi guys we met you in Spain when we got blocked in as they put a market up around all of the motorhomes …., we have just bought our own narrowboat and are currently fitting it out over this winter going to be on the water in spring 2025 …. The 4mph life is so appealling and can’t wait to live in the 62ft of space we have instead of the 7.5m of motorhome we currently have …winters will be spent touring in the Moho

Great vlog. We have a narrowboat and the biggest difference is in a van you are travelling somewhere to do something... on a narrowboat the travelling IS the doing part....

In our younger days we would holiday once a year on the canals and over the course of several years done almost the entire network. We loved it.
We sold our boat at the beginning of the year after 10yrs. As much as we loved it, a fantastic experience, it had become a chore and a bore. We have a house and now a van, and just love the van so much. I wouldn't recommend getting rid of your van for the boat. We were actually in Whitchurch last weekend, been Hebden Bridge, Howarth and Ramsbottom the last couple of days. Logistics a massive ball ache for boating. It's always an adventure though and that is what life is about.
I love you guys. Great parents and lovely children. My favorite (I'm not their parent, so I'm allowed to have a favorite) is Piper. She has a charming mix of being shy, but sometimes comes out of her shell and displays a surprising confidence. Lovely girl.

I live on a narrow boat and at this time of year it's common to get leaves on the propeller but a short burst of reverse thrust often clears it. Another reason for sluggish response is shallow depth of water which the Llangollen canal is known for also as you are travelling upstream there is the current to consider the Llangollen canal is one of the few canals with a continuous flow of water a bit like a river

All canals have flow but on some it's barely visible - floating debris can take a long time to pass.

We had a family NB that my father in law bought in 1965, ex GUCC (Grand Union Canal Company) 72 ft working boat named Bournemouth as it was a Town Class. Loads of great memories, but things change, moorings and boat licences have rocketed and more restrictions are introduced all the time. Sold the boat in 2014 and have spent most of the time touring with our pickup and demountable camper ever since. Definitely more flexibility and not as expensive.

Hi, we have a narrowboat after van ,ife for nearly 2 years, the decision that tipped it for us was constantly looking for parks, without a y height restrictions, and the cost of fuel,so we bought a 62ft boat,been living on board for nearly a year and it's totally amazing 😊,yes there is a .arge cost ut if find the right boat yard sellers some set up a payment plan, we also have a car which can can helpful ie shopping and seeing family and friends, but you are looking for a safe place to park up, but as on canals you have plenty of pubs,so it's just a case of popping in and asking,normally have a drink or bite to eat out of respect and a thank you,but a part from that life on the canals is so beautiful and heart warming, best of luck to you and your family...

So funny what you're saying about 'driving' the boat. I was a biker & a driving instructor, put me in a boat & I go to jelly! Like you say, it goes no more than 4mph, how hard can it be?! People have no idea how hard it is & yet some folks make it look super easy. Having said all that, I'm buying myself a narrowboat! Yes, you read that right! 🤣 I know you'll appreciate that though because it's easily to fall in love with moving your little home about & the scenery is stunning! & guess where it'll be moored up? I used to fancy narrowboat life, and we live near the Trent & Mersey canal where we walk every day but the more videos I watch of narrowboat life the less it appeals to me. Water shortages, canal breaches, lock repairs, blacking, mooring fees, the list goes on. In the 3 days it took to get to the Pontcysyllte aquaduct from Whitchurch, I can be in Portugal. I'll stick to gongoozling as others wrestle with locks.
For once I beat you to it. We did the Llangollen canal in 2006. Great fun. Loved Jacks tour.
Loving this vlog - we used to live in Weston Rhyn and often walked along the towpaths in the area.
We did that on the Norfolk Broads and in Ireland in the Shannon. Loved it, realy loved, no crashes but if i do that fulltime i would choose to do from the Netherlands to start so you can go down to hole europa.
I watch a couple on yu tube who live on a narrow boat, and they enjoy the pace and life. It would be an amazing chance but the downside would be your only travelling on the canals and with the van the kids have a wider variety of scenery. Keira you'll cope with the locks, so enjoyed this video.

That housing development cutting down the trees We have the same issue here in Australia. I don’t call them developers I have started calling them destroyers and it is corrupt local councils taking money from the destroyers that allow these trees to be removed in the name of progress

I haven’t been on a narrow boat but a very small motor cruiser and what o moved was the peacefulness and the view you don’t normally get oh homes etc. Boat life v lorry life? Both have their pros and cons but personally think the lorry is better until the kids are a little olderd

We did the Norfolk Broads once. It was a great experience, I think we did about 10 days. Don't think I could live full time on a boat though. I prefer the flexibility of the open road.
I did crash the boat outside a packed beer garden which was extremely embarrassing, I can still hear the reaction of everyone as it happened, there was a collective "oooh" and gasps as the boat mounted the embankment briefly. 😂😂😂
I lived on a narrow boat for ten years it was loverly but when I hit the Rd in a camper life got way better stick to the truck have a holiday on a boat that's my advice

Going to visit my parents in Thurrock (starting from anywhere) was down the Coventry Canal, onto the Oxford Canal, through Dukes Cut onto the Thames, change the propeller for a much faster one, stop in the Lee Valley in East London & catch 3 buses for the last bit. The Grand Union Canal actually goes into fairly-central London but then stops, all round there is 2, 3, 4 boats wide lashed to each other & you can expect your boat to be adrift when you get back to it if you're away more than 3 or 4 days.

We have a house, caravan and a widebeam. To be fair we brought the boat to live on while we renovated the house. We use the caravan to tour the UK weekends and summer holidays. The house is now up for sale and deciding whether to sell the widebeam and buy a narrowboat to be able to live on it and cruise the network also sell the caravan and buy a campervan. In the winter put the boat into a marina for 3 months and take off in the van to warmer climates in Europe. Best of both worlds. Does that make sense? Great vlog as usual. Thank you. 😊Howard

It certainly looked like an almost magical trip. I could barely watch the high level cruising, and can totally understand how walking across the bridge would be for others, not me. Walking round the house is challenging these days, even with walls to bounce off. My boating days are well past before they ever even started, except when are sampled second hand by watching others have a wonderful time in the quiet countryside..
Hi Guys love the video just wanted to say I loved on a narrow boat 10-15 years ago and loved it once I got the hang of strewing and I actually enjoyed doing the locks the most daunting bit was when passing boats on both sides especially if it was narrow or on a slight bend it scared me at first but as they say practice makes perfect 😊 I now do van life and to be honest they both have their positives and both have the odd negative! I enjoyed the slower pace of life on the canals and the best part of boat life is almost every other boater will offer help and advice which is invaluable! I’ve been watching your channel for quite some time and what I do no is your are such a lovely little family so weather your on a boat or in your lorry your content will be great! The one thing I will say is you’ve obviously created an audience from your van to your lorry so I think a change to a boat would draw a slightly different audience but also keeping your already subscribers so going to a boat would increase your subscribers again which would mean a few more pennies which may come in helpful 😊 any way like I said your are such a genuine little family showing your travels in real time whatever choice you make you will always be winners 😊 wishing you lots of luck with your future whatever it may be 😊

I love how you are able to make life an adventure. Most of us are stuck in the 9-5, although for myself I'm stuck tramping in my work truck during the week and get to see the wife at the weekend.

You can take them across the water to France , just make sure you have an experienced sea fairer on board with you. Loved this episode, try a wide beam next time for comparison, keep up the great entertainment,
I have watched a lot of narrowboat channels on You Tube and one difference to van lifers is that canal travelling is mostly in the UK - there are Canals in Europe and the USA but not practical to take your home with you.
A plus is the slower lifestyle and the camaraderie of the boating community
That is the difference, being restricted to where you travel

@@Touringwiththekidsthe canals ice over in winter, you have to smash the ice with an axe to get moving & if you're in anything other than a steel narrowboat you have to smash it every morning to be sure it won't sink you.
@@Touringwiththekidsgetting buffeted by day boats going too fast or too close & smashing you onto submerged rocks & shopping trolleys. This sinks many fibreglass boats & doesn't do any boat any good.
for me the only bad points is the rain and muddy tow paths as a rule of thumb in the winter months if it does ice over if thick the canal and river trust dont expect you to move because it could cause damage to your blacking which is a protective paint to help stop the hull from rusting plus any large sheets of ice pushing up against fibre glass boats.
LIke anything life forward planning helps as you know by living in the motorhome

We spent a week on the Broads, without any disasters. We always stopped at pubs (1976), it was sunny and warm. We didn't have any kids with us, and I spent a lot of time sunbathing and studying (successfully) for an exam while supping on a pint or three! I'm not sure if I could handle winter on a boat with the constant damp. Travelling round Europe in a van for three years was, for me, more preferable, although the boat was a nice break from reality.
I live on a 58 ft narrowboat and a solo boater and moored just outside Whitchurch.. ideally one bit of advice is to have longer than a week on a less challenging canal ... hope you all enjoyed this way of life ..

Hi Guys great video. I live full time on a Narrowboat and have done for a while just going into my 8th winter. I travel the uk Solo with just my dog. It’s a great way of life if you were to move onto the water the kids would have a great time I know many family living abroad.

I really enjoyed that such a nice way of life and you can still do everything with the kids inside one thing I would say is when the kids are outside on the boat put the lifejackets on just in case 👍
Get yourself some 2 way radios to communicate from bow to stern of the boat!

Not really thought you both did well. Going across the water viaduct looked a bit nerve wrecking. We have been in a motorhome for years and still love it. We always find beautiful woods and offen walk along the canals. But being able to stop and and go anywhere and aboard is the best. Love video

Live on a wide beam for the past 6 years. Awesome way of life. Obviously limited where you can go as opposed to a narrow boat but for living it’s hard to beat! It’s probably easier than van life in the uk and just a more relaxing way to go. Would you be able to cope without the European trips? In an ideal world I guess you have both, it’s the water for me!
I’m not sure if we would cope without our dose of Europe! The widebeams are really gorgeous, we actually viewed one last year and were so wowed by it x

@ we spent some time with them last winter in Spain, as they also had a camper van as well as the boat they were able to still go off and have time away and travel.
I think the narrow boat is quite restrictive as you can only travel the same canal system for a certain distance, if you want to use other systems you then need to transport the boat via road to another canal system and also then need different canal licences etc. but for them I think it came down to the restriction of space, narrow, low ceiling, and constant damp problems especially in winter. I think that’s what I remember but could be wrong.
Worth a chat to them, they’re a nice friendly couple and always happy to help.
Whatever you guys decide I’m sure you’ll still live life to the full, always enjoy your vlogs and travels.

@@thebebbsbeatI understand there's 2 canal networks covering most of Europe & they're joined by a fascinating device, it's a canal on a massive slope & 2 very large railway locomotives tied together by a _huuuge_ bulldozer blade push the water uphill along with whatever is floating on it. I would want to try it several times with a hire boat before I risked any boat of mine being pushed sideways up hill!

We live really near Whitchurch and Ellesmere! We have a campervan but I would prefer a narrow boat because when you are travelling you can do stuff. There is a good park with animals under the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct! Love Beth

My favourite TH-camrs in my patch! I live in Shropshire...and travel up to Chirk and Ellesmere a lot! Knowing what you know now, if you started again...and you were on the verge of selling a house and doing something completely different, would you go for life in the water or on the road? I know both have pros and cons but thats where I'm at at the moment. I drive long distances for a living so having a bit of a break on the canal sounds appealing but id love to able to take the kids all over Europe too. Im just interested to see what your thoughts are. Another amazing video, thank you so much for the time and effort you out in to it for us 👍

No guys, don't do it. You'd get bored of it. Canal life is fine for a while but is ultimately too restrictive. Stay with the lorry and chase the sunshine. 😎👍

We did both van and boat life, decided to do boat life when we had kids loved both but all the muddy winter trecks on tow path and fetching coal, shopping etc and going out to do stuff in winter was a struggle, i think it wojld be easier in a marina. People on canals are so lovely. Why not do it for a few years or maybe put boat in a marina and go travelling sometimes. Canal life is def in the slow lane but wildlife is amazing.

Trudging 4 miles up a muddy & uneven towpath in the dark loaded with shopping in slushy rain is not a joke! Especially if the handles tear off one of your bags & tip your shopping into the water.
