Naw don't be fooled a lot of them 70-80 players ran up and down the court just as fast. The main thing is they were just hacked and bumped a lot compared to today's game where the game is more offense focus driven. Keep in mind if you're talking early 50 before there was a shot clock, yes..cause they would just walk or run and hold the ball for long durations of play, reason the scores were so low back then

As another individual stated there wouldn't have been Lebron and 2016 without the fact that World singlehandedly kept the Cavs afloat during the Stepien years...a great game at the hoop, mid-range, and deep, as opposed to the mindless shot put launches behind the arch that we see today...creativity plus... .

Another genuine Hall of Fame snub right here, folks! Career numbers ALONE more than warrant a first-ballot entry and let's face it: if not for Free, the Cavs would've left Cleveland behind back in the mid-80s (true story). Saved that franchise and helped get them back into perennial playoff contention during that trying period. Was originally with the powerhouse Sixers back in the late-70s, but there were simply too many mouths to feed on that team so he ended up getting dealt to the Clippers where he finally took off. Quite the physical specimen in his prime, too... ;-)
I totally agree. There are different ways to define greatness that warrant a HoF entry. Titles, stats and - here it gets a bit subjective - how much a player contributed to the way the game is played. Cousy (passing & dribble), Dolph Schayes (development of the jumper), Nash, Curry (3point shooting, distance) , Ginobili (Eurostep), Nowitzki (tall man shooting, one legged fadaway), James Harden (step back 3) are all players who changed the game profoundly. They added features to it that became mainstream, part of the language of the game. For that they should be Hall of Famers. World B. Free is one them. His spin move, the way he initiated contact to create space for his jumper in traffic, that is largely his invention, or at least he perfected it.
Truly one of the best for his size. He definitely was an inspiration for me. My peers actually crowned me with the nickname" World B Free" because I patterned my game after him and was a bad man in my prime. He like I didn't get the recognition he deserved but he definitely had the respect of all of his peers. Wishing you the best in everything and your legacy will never die. I was often told by coaches that he was 1 dimensional and the anti point guard so now I can show proof to nonbelievers. Lloyd World B Free was a showstopper and a competitor! HOFer and master of his trade!
Too bad he played before ESPN and Sportcenter. He would have been more well-known. He shot an excellent % from the field. His running mate, Randy Smith, wasn't too shabby either!

The only player I've seen that leaps as high on his jumper was Len Bias.Free really got up on his jumper and sometimes used to kick out his leg.
