The Filipino singers are just mimics; not artists. There's no musicality with them; they're just karaoke singers and most of them are pretty cheesy.

@jocriss alam mo n yan friend.. Iba talaga pag classically trained ka at nahasa sa tiyatro ang boses mo.. Iba kase ang mga atake sa theater.. Arrangement is/was too difficult and too technical... Kaya mahirap mga kanta sa theater talagang putulan NG litid at boses kung boses (QUALITY) talaga ang labanan.. kaya mahirap makapasa sa Broadway and West End eh..

@jocriss Yes Lea is one of the most technical singers and probably the cleanest singer we have but there are things that she can't do like those riffs and runs that kat already perfected. Tell me if where did you see Lea did such riffs and runs? That is a part of how a song is becomes very technical. I dont have anything against Lea tho. 😉

Mariah has a unique and distinct style of singing. She sings this airy chest voice then transitions to falsetto then to full chest then back to airy then very low note. No other singer does this excellently than Katrina. Plus of course the out of this world riffs and runs of Katrina which is unbridled in the Philippines. Knowing how to WHISTLE doesn't make you a Mariah. That's just a very tiny part. It's the singing style and flawless transitions that really matter. :)

I can say that this is her best cover of the song, especially that the sustained notes where sooo satisfying but, lately, it's really noticeable that she gets too overwhelmed in doing runs and riffs and whistle notes like, before she can do runs perfectly without any overdoing, I just wish that she gets back on her momentum on this one.
