The new Jan Brady debuts her brunette wig at Lucy Winter's birthday party. #BradyBunch | Now streaming on Paramount+ Where to watch: para.mt/BradyBunch
@@jonnaking3054He really does have the biggest heart. He was the sensitive thoughtful middle boy. I'm the same way being the middle of of three brothers. Maybe it's an intentional part of his character. Greg's the outgoing mature older brother. Bobby is the goofy annoying little brother.
That wasn't the point. The point was that her sisters are also blonde and she was sick of looking the same as them and being the invisible middle child.
@@CaliMel1111 Yeah, but to go from very light blond to jet black is way too far. She should have gone with brunette at most. And a younger style. But of course for the show they wanted to go with something that didn't really work on her to make the point.
Lucy Winters is played by child actor Pamelyn Ferdin, who (among her other roles in showbiz) was the voice of crabby Lucy Van Pelt in two of the Peanuts/Charlie Brown animated specials as well as the theatrical film A Boy Named Charlie Brown, the voice of Fern in the 1973 animated musical Charlotte's Web, and Felix Unger's daughter Edna on at least one episode of The Odd Couple during the 1970s. Good actress, this young lady. And she became an animal rights activist.
@@eduardo_corrochio No, it's the Frosty the Snowman song sang by Jimmy Durante on the radio, and he's talking to a little girl who says, what happened to Frosty when he came to life that day?
@@bobby70077 Oh. I don't know anything about the song itself. Sorry. I did play it just now here on YT (took a while to find the actual 1950 version and not the one used in the TV cartoon show): th-cam.com/video/j6FOrKiSex0/w-d-xo.html Maybe someone else will chime in here and tell us who the female voice belongs to in that song. I can tell you that the voice is not Pamlyn Ferdin's, because she was born nine years _after_ this Frosty song was recorded.
Not sure it's a NY thing: In the 60s some actors may have subconsciously adapted a JFK type of speaking at times in their sitcoms. I have heard it on Mary Tyler Moore in early episodes of The Dick Van Dyke Show ("Well, I'd RAW-tha stay home ..."), and from Robert Reed in early seasons of The Brady Bunch ("Pee-TAH") and also Yvonne DeCarlo sometimes on The Munsters. It's often subtle, but discerning ears will notice it.
He never said “Petuh.” He said, “Hey Pete, I thought we had an agreement.” Many actors from that time had been trained in the mid-Atlantic accent. Robert Reed was not one of them. By this time, he had been out West for so long he had absolutely no trace of an Illinois accent, so whoever said that on here doesn’t know what they’re talking about. Between Reed’s schooling and travels, he would not have had any Midwestern accent at all.
Sally Dryer was the very first and original voice of Lucy, in the Great Pumpkin, and Charlie Brown Christmas. Not the chick who had the party, in this Brady episode.
I think that she was also the voice of the girl who raised up the little baby pig on the Charlotte's Web animated movie with Debbie Reynolds as the spider named Charlotte.
Our efforts to distinguish ourselves don't always work out as planned. It's devastating to be laughed at, all along thinking we were going to be making a unique statement that others would admire.
Gleaning lessons and getting hurt are both a part of the growing process as we move from childhood into maturity. We become better for it, at least that's the goal and the ideal. Mistakes are made, poor choices taken, and eventually we begin to understand important truths about being oneself and not trying to impress others. What I think of myself-- whether I'm a decent person or not-- means so much more than what most others think of me; that's something of value that not everyone discovers while growing up.
@@jonnaking3054 He was. I think that's one reason I like him so much. Well that and a lot of other reasons. Being a middle boy myself, and having a similar demeanor.
Do you want to hear something weird!? The girl who plays the character? Lucy in this episode is actually the voice of Lucy on some of the Peanuts cartoons.
@@nassauguy48 Yep, and from the dialogue it appears Jan had earned a reputation for pulling pranks. When the girl with the most beautiful hair decides to start wearing a wig, why wouldn't that be another prank? It's amazing in those days those kids would be allowed to be out at night by themselves. These days, it would be out of the question.
...where's Jan's GOING, in that Elizabeth Taylor 1965, "Sandpiper / "The Shadow Of Your Smile" Wig!?? (0:45) ...gurl, take that OFF, you're *JAN BRADY* , and we love you just for THAT....
I had no idea that Stacey Ferguson aka "Fergie" did the voice of Sally Brown and Steve Hartman (Tween Rick Forrester B & B) did the voice of Charlie Brown I think in the 1990's.
Wasn't there an episode where Jan met an older relative that, when young, resembled Jan? And didn't his aunt or whatever show up with curly brunette hair?
It’s funny how back in the day when the show is out and I watched it as a kid, I didn’t even think about how the kids would just leave their house after dark and walk to all their friends’ houses by themselves. We had lots of friends in our neighborhood, growing up, although we didn’t go to their houses after dark, typically. But as a grown-up, seeing these old shows, I can’t imagine doing that. My boys grew up in the late 90s and early 2000s and I wouldn’t have allowed them to just walk to their friend’s house at night by themselves. Different times.
Not this part but before this part when they were talking to peter I was like why on every ep both parents go upstairs to talk with the child why can't one just go
@@nassauguy48 It's very curious that some people on these Brady Bunch video comments feel the need to mock and joke about Robert Reed's sexuality, or to bring a spotlight on it. Most of us aren't so amused by these things.
As a child watching this, I thought it looked silly also. Why she didn't choose a bob or a long wig I wonder. Then again, this is tv so the more dramatic the better lol.
The way Peter is hurt for Jan. They are all so cute.
Peter was the only Brady kid who didn't make fun of Jan. Peter always has the biggest heart of all the kids I think

Watching all these clips on this channel brings back so many memories. I used to watch The Brady Bunch all the time when I was a kid.

Eve Plumb deserved an Emmy for this scene.
she really is a good actress, lots of expressions and able to convey emotions well

Carol just grabs a random rag sitting on the couch and wipes Jan's tears...maybe Bobby blew his nose in it earlier....lol
LOL!
Damn I’m happy she didn’t grab an old pop tart piece and wipe
This video cut out a scene where she was watching television and dabbing her eyes.
WOW, it’s the new Jan Brady.
No, just the same old pouty, unhappy child narcissist she always was.
When Jan gets older, her hair is even prettier.
Why didn't People realize that Jan had needs to be special?
Second time since the pilot that Robert Reed's New York accent slipped out and he said "Petuh"! Haha!
Robert was from Illinois, not from New York! He had a very Midwestern accent.
