Nice review. I have heard good things about Lochlea. Don't forget Bladloch as a Lowland distillery. Bladloch has some quite nice Scotches, such as Vinaya. Cheers!

Glenkinchie is definitely in the lowlands, I did try this one. It's just too young for money. Interesting. I want to see it develop a little bit more,$80+ It's hard to pay that much for it.😊 And I do love Spirit driving casks , this one was just a little bit too young. I want to see when its gets older. One store near me got a bunch of new distillery bottlings including this one. They're on my list but holding off on buying for now, but this review is useful for future reference

Had a bottle of this last year. For me, there is too much STR cask influence. I appreciate that with young Whisky having 1st fill bourbon, oloroso sherry butts and French STR red wine casks gives you the opportunity to bottle young with a lot of character, but the wine and sherry need to be used sparingly. Cotswolds standard bottle uses the same cask types but did a better job blending up a batch so you can taste some of the spirit character. Cheers guys

Question: does a given distillery have to source their barley from their same region? I have never heard anything about this. Otherwise, why is the regional distinction important??

Some do but majority don’t. They are buying in bulk and looking for the best prices. The general belief was that the distilling process strips any character from the grain. Waterford proved that wrong. Check there distillery out in Ireland. We filmed there for a week. Fun shows
