Just enough for rent and bills and the metro monthly pass. I love that you are taking us out of Tokyo too. Tokyo is indeed amazing but there is always a certain difference between the capital and the rest of the country.
    Also deep respect to Wakana, she is so young and does everything herself. It is absolutely amazing that Japan allows people living in old houses for free while fixing it. I wish more countries adopted this idea. Way too many gorgeous old houses go to waste.
    thank you for your wonderful work, as always ♥

      @@cupidok2768 All the money you save on rent?? Like, what you mean?? Video even says Wakana-san has a part time job at a Yakisoba restaurant at the foot of the mountain...?
      That's the real struggle of living out in the countryside, away from big cities - finding work that can support yourself and/or whatever family you have. That's why humanity as a species in general is moving into cities more and more. There's not enough, or not as easy to find decent quality jobs/work for a growing population out in the countryside, demand quite often outstrips supply, and all the smart, talented, ambitious young adult s leave to make their way in the world from bigger communities. Modern society is just built this way. Until technology advances, or it becomes socially acceptable or financially lucrative to work remotely or with less educated country jobs again, then this will continue to happen as a feedback loop of people crowding more and more into cities with less and less people out in rural or remote areas.

    Much respect to Wakana for her choice of lifestyle. It is also good that young people want to move to rural areas, to keep these regions alive. In answer to your "Which do you prefer?" question, I would have to say, the city (or more specifically suburbia). But that's just me.

      @chobai9996 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah but...these houses are free or super cheap...the government is giving them out free because they want people to move to the countryside. So, spend tons of money on an apartment in Tokyo, or get a free house....I think it's not a hard choice

      For me...it's "close enough but far enough".
      With that description, the suburbs would be for me as well.
      Enjoy the city (a town really) that I moved to in SE Wisconsin - though smaller and older than a typical suburb, it's a world away from the state university city in Virginia that I left.
      In a good way.
      Day to day life is much more relaxing.
      People I've previously known went all the way and left city life entirely.
      But ...couldn't deal with having only well water, constant power outages, almost non-existent cell/internet service, etc.
      No thanks - "Close enough but far enough" is fine for me.
      Good for the young lady.
      Glad she's happy and enjoying the company of her neighbors.

    What kind of work can a foreigner such as myself find out there? I know some construction and a few other trades as well. I have done a bit of farming and don't shy away from hard work.
    I would gladly move here. This California man is tired of the big city.
