It's great seeing you make such an incredible comeback after serious injury. It shows what's possible with determination and grit. I'll keep that in mind when I'm whimpering during a run- to suck it up, buttercup!
I got so inspired following your session like this, it was SO much fun to watch Ben! please do more of these and let us follow along. Also you are really getting into shape again and I am so happy for you!
Moose fartlek is one of my favourites too! I've been doing it about once every two weeks since April and really like the pace change. I do it as 5 sets of 3min and 1min with 1min jogs in between but imagine in that heat a full rest recovery would be better. It's not just as hot here in Northern Ireland. Keep up the good work 😊
Great to see you wearing a 'Running Company' singlet Benno. Bec and Steve at the Running Company in Lilydale (eastern Melbourne) are legends. Into the 5th week of your marathon training plan and enjoying every second. It's like a London winter here ☔️. Great content. Stay cool
Running in this heat is killing me! It's tough I the UK as we only get a week of so at a time of warm weather so we can never really acclimatise. Appreciate the tips at the end of the vid
Hi Ben, great workout! My fav session is pyramid intervals. Start with 200, then 300, 400, 500, 600 up until the distance you want, then repeat the longest distance and go back down until 200. All reps with 60 seconds rest inbetween. I've done up to 800. Got absolutely torn to pieces after that session! Cheers!
Great video Ben. I run on the exact opposite side of the river. You've got a nice long path but I've got mud! I look across and wish I was on your side!
Good to see you back on it 👍 Liked the video with all the relevant information popping up 👌 It's hard work running in the heat, at least in the cold you can layer up, it's hard to de layer when you're wearing hardly anything!
Completely lost my appetite on food and motivation on running because of the heat even though Boston is cooler than London. Only thing can push me running is a good bottle of beer. Good to see you back up to Speed Ben! Need a dose of your energy!
Thanks for this Ben & Sarah! I saw you programming the Moose on your IG stories and googled it but couldn't find out what it is. Glad this video explains it, gives me something new to try to vary up my daily runs :)
Hello from Baku. in week 3 of your Advanced Marathon plan. 16k with MP and tempo done. Up at 5:00 and out by 5:30 to beat the heat. Wind helps with the heat too. Rest tomorrow and 23k on Sunday!
Hey Ben, I run regularly in similar temps, usually look like I jumped into the pool after an hour of running HAHA! But I enjoy it, it somehow just feels good knowing that I will be able to go faster when its cooler.
I was watching and recognised the singlet as being from ballarat then just knew you’d say the workout was moose fartlek! I’m an avid listener of the inside running podcast too and I’ve done this session myself a few time’s as well as the ‘mona’ fartlek they’ve spoke about, such a good listen every week!
Running in the heat video when it’s New Year’s Eve and blooooody freezing 😂 needed to recap what the moose fartlek was for todays session 😂 happy new year Ben, Sarah and everyone else!!
Great first session! Looking really smooth despite the recent injury Ben! I'm going for my first 5k TT post Covid (been training well for about 4 weeks now) this weekend, dreading to see how much fitness has been lost!
I bought one of these long sleeve UV protection shirts for running UPF50+ for running in the sun. It's brilliant far better than expected. Keep the UV off you and I think it is actually cooler.
Great to see you back out there running hard, and on a hot day too! I'm scaled back, struggling with shin splints right now, trying not to come back too fast. Any advice? Thanks as always for your positive outlook and great videos!
Brilliant session Ben, massive kudos in that heat! Might have to have a go at this one myself! Looks tough! Love 2 mile reps, I prefer the longer endurance stuff, the shorter 60 second style reps normally break me 😂
I am too stuck in my ways bro. Always run the same pace whether it's 1km or 20. Uphill or down 😩. Need to figure out what to do, thanks for the inspiration I reckon I'll give something like this a go today
One of the best things I did was starting to run at lots of different paces.. slow down on longer runs, faster in sessions.. helped a lot! Enjoy your run today Danny!
I have my own treadmill. Its hard to run at all when its same temperatur inside as outside, Did a 5k race on zwift. Had to go to basement and lay down on the concreate after the race. Nice to c you getting back your strength
I'd recommend a good pair of sunglasses when it's very sunny, to protect your eyes from the UV. And you can still wear your hat backwards! I tend to prefer cycling over running when it's super hot as you get a bit of extra air flow with the faster speed. In the UK it's pretty rare you'll have weeks of super hot weather so you can schedule your runs for the cooler days.
Ben Parkes: Hey, here are some tips for running in the heat. Also Ben Parkes: Wearing all black while running with 34 degrees celsius. (love you Ben, great video, keep up the good work!!!)
It’s cold and frosty 🥶 here in Australia (I live near ballarat). I do your warm up routine, it really makes a difference. I’m 55 yo, only been running for 6 months. Do you recommend some resistance training??
Great video as per usual mate great to see you back out at it again 😁👍 but a quick tip for ice cream for cool down try Morrisons own range of soya ice cream super cheap and super amazing they come in vanilla chocolate and strawberry like a little tip of heaven but up north here they only cost 80p 😍😱
Sarah's filming on the bike was on point this time round 👌👌 Just started using MP L5, I'd definitely give this session a go in a few weeks time. Presuming Interval 2 pace for the 1KMs and Hard for 60 seconds? Edit: Hat showed up today, postcards a great personal touch!
Hi Ben, I will be running under the heat of the sun as well later at 2pm here in the Philippines. I joined the "Pinoy MAMAW 24 Hour Challenge", wherein you are to run 5 ten km in one day with 5 hours interval. I started my first run at 4am, second run at 9am then my third run later at 2pm, fourth at 8pm, then fifth and last at 12 midnight. All in all it will be 50km.
Thank you for following along! 😀 I’m always working to improve my form.. I don’t feel any pain when running now.. it is a little sore afterwards, but doesn’t hurt at all. 😀
Thanks for the great vids, would love to get one of your caps, just a little expensive to get it to South Africa. Out of interest, what do you do with the GoPro when you don't record while running?
It’s tough and everyone reacts differently to the heat.. sure it will be back to normal weather very soon and you can get your long run done then Louis!! All the best!
Great video, question you said you didn’t have your Heart Rate monitor on to take HR. Why don’t you use the Garmin heart rate on the watch? I use mine and unsure if i should add a polar OH1. Thanks
It’s just not that accurate. Wrist hr is way better than it use to be, but still not great. So don’t see the point in analysing it, when it’s not accurate!
Ben Parkes thanks I use it exclusively and mainly train based on HR, so will definitely look at the alternatives then. Appreciate the info. Do you find the wrist to give higher or lower heart rate readings than the arm band? Looking forward to more quality content 👌
For road races I have some salomon shorts with a pouch in.. or just carry them in my hand. Only wear my naked band for ultras when I’d need to carry more.
My question is... If you had ran towards Crossness instead, would putting up with the 'adverse' smell made it a better or worse session physiologically?
Hi speedy how many time would you do this session?. Il give it ago in a couple of days also with ten k pace is it the main pace you finishes at end of a 10k best beside the time you finish show on strava?. Thanks
@@BenParkes also I've still got dodgy knee and havent done a fast 10 since new years day should I go buy that or have I got to really do a new 10k to se were I'm at?. Hi Ben, i was just wondering, I’m a taller-ish guy (6ft 2) and I’m finding it hard to get my cadence up to 180, would you say 180 is the standard go to cadence for all shapes and sizes? Some great tips. Running a 20k in a couple of weeks for charity. (10k been my furthest so bit of a challenge) Not an official event but using local cycle path. Felt it was too hot today, so may go out about 6am tomorrow. Any tips on a really early start. Thx.
Thanks for your advice Ben, completed my 20k sponsored run earlier today in 2h 36mins - really please, although totally knackered and a bit sore in places. Your videos certainly helped. Thanks
What is your favourite session?? Hills? Intervals? Long run reps?
Tempo run ;)
Ben Parkes Favourite Intervals, 4 x progressive 1K’s x 2 (of course on a track)👌
Long Threshold runs are what make me feel great. An exhilarating feel of accomplishment.
Hilly intervals during a long run !
Hill reps,love them!
BEST BIT 3:55
Do you need help editing your videos? Make them more jazzy? I am available for hire!
smooth transition
the dance too hahahahahha
7:29 is also nice touch

Aw, thank you Kelly! Sure you’ll be amazing on your next run 😀
Running going great getting back into it just need to start running more often.#gettingitdone. You and Sarah is the reason I love running.

Very kind, thank you!

brutal workout Ben. Did it today and had 5 repeats planned but only got through four. Amazing effort from you so soon after injury
Thank you for all your great content on your channel. I always get so inspired watching your videos! 👏😀
Absolutely love this video Ben I work in Woolwich so for the last 3 months during lockdown I’ve been running this route on my lunchtime.
Thanks for this Ben & Sarah! I saw you programming the Moose on your IG stories and googled it but couldn't find out what it is. Glad this video explains it, gives me something new to try to vary up my daily runs :)
I just picked up some Nike Peg 35's. Can't wait to try them tomorrow morning when it's still cool outside.

Congrats on your progress and also on 60k subs. #Gettingitdone

Glad you're getting back into shape man!
Great vid Ben will be giving that session ago needed something different to do nice one 👍
I like hard intervals, like 12x2min with 1min jog recovery. That really builds you aerobic power/VO2 max
😁Good to see you back buddy!!!!
Good job Ben! 👍🏼
Happy B’day Sarah!
I love your videos Thanks guys 👍🤘💪🤩
"bang on 5 min pace, that warm-up" whaaat!!!! lol!!
looking good, Ben
Great Video/session Ben - I'm definitely gonna give that a try! 👍🏼
Most of my running lately has been at easy pace because there have been a lot of really hot and humid days here in Toronto.
LOL love the clothes change! abra kadabra!!
Love these vids . Thank you ! Had to put my run off till 1800 thou as it was tooo hot! 😂

Hi, what is the song called and who is it by? Eight minutes into the video (breathe), great song for stunning playlist.
Is this route along the river Thames on the Belvedere/abbey wood side?
It is.. good spot!
