I may be wrong but the water neck is meant to have an O-ring rather than a gasket. That is what the groove is for.

You're right. Those necks with the o-ring are intended to be used with just the o-ring. I've had bad experiences with just the o-ring. They always leaked on me. The gasket I used specifically noted to remove the o-ring if one was on the neck, which worked out great for me. Thank you for watching 🤝💯

Are you hooking up a external transmission cooler?
I know the stock radiators are notorious for going bad and leaking water into the transmission.
My trans got busted that way so after the rebuild I installed the external cooler.

What temperature thermostat did you go with? When I replaced my radiator in my Regal I used a 185.
