My husband was in Whitney's band then and in this Nelson Mandela concert, that fine percussionist LOL. They didn't use protools back then, the band her NJ peeps were playing full out. This her first band played every show with out tracks, protools etc. They are the least credited in her career, but they were also the best band to be able to do all of this without any aid. This was without a doubt Whitney's prime, this was the band that helped shoot her to the stars. This right here is the Real Whitney with pure vocals.

Greatest vocalist of all time. She didn’t even have to try. That’s why all of her performances were different. She just did whatever she felt like in the moment and nailed it every time.

Crazy how ignorant some people are to say that she couldn't really go up there.I mean just listen ,she didn't only reach those high notes but hanged onto them, phrased and sustained up there continuously and effortlessly while still maintaining the power, vibrato and tonal quality .

The technique she uses to hit her C#5 will make it a high note for most sopranos...A note is not just a note, it is how you hit it...Most sopranos would struggle to hit a full on chest C#5

I 💜 the videos of Mariah u used to bookend this video with. That era was a great period for her. She was breaking away slowly from Tommy & ….idk she just had a radiance that really glowed. I know things were probably turbulent behind the scenes but those 2 scenes are nice memories to relive. I watched the FreedomFest concert at 16 & I was still too young to understand what I had really watched, I just knew I had witnessed something that I could not explain and I could not forget. I’ve ALWAYS steadfastly believed history would be very, VERY kind to Whitney and it has finally happened and it’s because of people like you. Thank you isn’t enuf💜
