I’m starting to hate humility in music but It goes along way Curved Air along with Sonia saved me with Back Street Love the way as she sings she explains something that was wrong or that I thought was wrong about a Woman I know how can one not Love a group of Musicians for that
Sonja Kristina. Wow! Curved Air were huge, but it seemed to be so short lived. Musically the Band were wonderful and Sonja with her incredible voice could effortlessly shatter glass. There was power in her voice, yet she never belted it out as many vocalists would...Sonja didn't need to! I personally wish that someone could have developed Curved Air more because they could have been up there 'Yes', 'Genesis' & the bigger Band's around at that time. Sonja, you had and probably still have an incredible voice. You were quite likely the most beautiful Singer of the 70's
I had SUCH a crush on her as a 10 year old when Backstreet Luv came out.. Awesome tune, Gorgeous (still) singer and Stewart Copeland on Drums! what more could you ask for?
I just heard of them today, because I was doing a deep dive on Steward Copeland (my first concert was seeing the Police in my hometown of Bloomington, Minnesota at 15 in '83). Her voice in Phantasmagoria and the insanity of Vivaldi (On par with Led Zep's Dazed and confused for creativity) tells me I should have head of them long ago.
Really lovely lady - went on a date with her a few years back. Not the right time in my life but she was very good company. Never mentioned her music background once and neither did I.
Recently, my TH-cam algorithm gave me Curved Air on Beat Club, performing Back Street Luv… I played it, expecting to see Stewart Copeland, because I knew he had been in the band previous to The Police, - no Stewart, but Sonia‘s voice and presence immediately captivated me!
I was lucky enough to see Curved Air in the Roundhouse around 1979 but the date is hazy. What a funking incredible night. The band were so tight and Sonia so hot. Unforgettable.
Saw Curved Air Birmingham town hall I think. I have two of their albums. Classed as progressive definitely so much more than the crap that was classed as pop music. A very talented band possibly one of the most underrated. Sonja was superb and a very accomplished performer and ofcourse very good looking too. Actually the whole band were. First band of that era with an electric violin which was superb and formed their signature. I don't tend to look back a lot in life but I do miss them. One of a kind, unique. Buffie St Marie and, Roger Chapman lead vocalist with Family. Two other exceptional talents. There were so so so many back in the day. How lucky was and am I.
Posh guys, this is when the posh guys started to take over. She was great but possibly not so posh. Pink Floyd were well posh and the blokes that ran Island Records.
Totally agree. I caught a bit of a documentary on Pink Floyd the other evening and God they look and sound like retired bankers, and dark side of the moon was the dullest album I ever heard- Punk came like a breath of not so fresh air after these suburban gits; " Well, we all met at University....." course you did you posh bastards, and you think you can rock an roll? See you on the golf course......
Every time I hear Backstreet Love it’s in my head for days.
She talks like she has no idea about what an original and sophisticated style she brought to rock music. Very humble legend. Love her.

Spot on.
What a band, I never get tired of listening to them and get the goosebumps.

You and me both

Classic 70s song. Melody, lyrics and instrumentation, mesmerising. Beautiful lead vocalist 😊
wow, still a stunner
Yes, and she's a Essex girl
I am a happy guy having her as one of my Facebook's friends. Love her!

I remember this track when it came out, I was13, It captivated me, great song. and as for Sonja ,,,, i had many teenage dreams about her
Loved her to bits when I was a kid and still think she is incredibly beautiful. Shook hands with her at Newcastle Mayfair. Brilliant.
I was exactly the same! I saw her at Guildford civic hall when I was a teenager and fell instantly in love. I still she is completely gorgeous!!
Saw her at the Ye Olde Mayfair too. Fabulous!
I saw her at the Mayfair too. Loved her voice.
Прекрасная певица! С удовольствием слушаю в своей столярной мастерской
Crikey she's amazing

Great band
Still got it 🥰
Sonja is a Goddess
I had such a crush on her when I was a teenager - and got to see her in Aberystwyth in 1978 (?) Midnight wire tour
Gruppo meraviglioso
Had the album Air Cut in 1973

She wrote the lyrics and did vocals? Fucking score as a band! Yeah, your in lass!
Still a gorgeous woman.
Hardly
@@greggasiorowski4025 10/10 would still bang.
I want to be in Cherry Red Tv
When did Copeland leave the band? Or was he tossed from it? Just curious. Don't know this band. Only recall seeing the name in record stacks.
Bloody hell, she looks great!!She must be in her late 60s,early 70s!!
No & yeah, 71 this year not sure when this was filmed.
Interview was recorded in 2008 so would have been 58-59 here - she looked amazing and I’m sure still does in her 70s now
Saw her in pub once very attractive eyes
And was married to Police drummer Stewart Copeland :)
Curved Air Drummer you mean...
No, PLEASE not Roger Chapman vibrato LOL! You did just perfect doing it your way Sonja! Lovely woman and a lovely interview.
Haha, Family were always my favourite band but I remember liking Curved Air. Now I know why......
Baaaah ! Baaah!
Posh guys, this is when the posh guys started to take over. She was great but possibly not so posh. Pink Floyd were well posh and the blokes that ran Island Records.

Sonja Kristina you áre the love of my life l love you forever in the other life we were Adán and Eva fathers of Humankin
She really needs to call time on singing now her once great voice sadly is now totally shot .
No such thing as luck
Not in Sonja's case but I have been extraordinarily lucky all my life..
Tell the interviewer to move his lav mic if he's going to breathe heavily and gulp his drink. No one wants to hear that interrupting Sonja
Love her but looks like wisdom teeth hurting
Hard to believe she likes Buffy St Marie who can barely sing whereas this girl certainly can.
Oh no she had a nose job. yuuuk
I see Botox.
Middle-class Prog Rock, thank God it died an early death!
Looks like she is stoned, at least she is coherent.
