  • This is the easiest way to paint a realistic flower with watercolor. I am breaking this down step-by-step, nice and slow. That is why I am doing two parts to this floral painting. For this video, we are getting started with the first layers, and the next video, we will finish this flower.
    Overall, this is part 3 of a 4 part series. Part 1 was breaking down sketching realistic flower petals, Part 2 was sketching this entire flower, parts 3 and 4 are be painting this flower with watercolor. Be sure to follow along for all the fun!

    I am loving these videos, showing us in stages keeps it from being overwhelming. I am however, finding it a little difficult to see what you are sketching though, and I can’t quite see what parts you are colouring as the sketch is so feint. I know it probably looks bad, but a sketch and painting with bold outline would help to see the lines and where you are placing the colours and contrast. Video seems to reduce the visibility of the sketch.

    Thank you for the sketching part ... it really helped me. I do have trouble with the centre of the peony. Can not quite see what you do there. It may be clear when all is finished. Thanks Jenna. Love the different parts to show the process.

    All of your videos are very helpful! I really enjoyed the one where you sketch the peony. It's really good to see the process that you follow to create a realistic flower. I like loose style flowers but this flower really catches the eye!

    This series is one of my Jenna favorites. The sketching videos have addressed so many unanswered questions about creating a peony with depth and the petal shapes. I love the detail and clear technique of the third video where the painting begins. However, I agree with a couple of other comments, below, that it was hard to follow where the paint was being laid down due to the faint sketch lines. I understand the need for the light sketch to create a good outcome, yet it doesn't lend itself to the subtlety of the painting lesson. Thank you so much for offering this series. It is brilliant and I look forward to lesson 4.

    Thank you Jenna this is lovely. Could you tell me what paper you are using.? Do you use rough or smooth paper or do you vary what you choose?

    I can’t keep my paper damp for 2 minutes how do you keep it damp for 10???

    • @SuzetteSantori1

      😂She makes everything look easy right? But if you want I have two ideas. One is you can totally wet the back of the paper 1st. It also helps stick the paper to the surface and not buckle. Some artists do this regularly. Second is make sure to brush the water over in more than one direction! I didn't know this and being cotton the paper has fibers that run in different dirextions and will absorb it better run your brush over twice at least

    • @Ellaloveslofi
      @Ellaloveslofi 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Good quality watercolor paper with cotton fibers is key. I had that problem for a while and was blown away when I finally got good paper! It was a completely different experience painting!
