I don't thing her taste is objectively bad. It's not my taste and yes, the orange is overwhelming. But if she decorated her home in that style, it would not be 'bad taste' just 'her taste.' The problem is not that her taste is 'terrible,' but that it's her personal taste, and that does not always translate to what people need or want in a hotel room. Most people's homes do not look like hotel rooms for a reason: hotels are to rooms what MacDonald's is to food - it has to appeal to millions of people, not just the one person renting the room or cooking the food. Hotel rooms need to be sleek and easy to clean for the staff, for one thing; they also need to feel clean (the less stuff the cleaner) to visitors. And people need to feel like they can put THEIR stuff around, not have to push the owner's stuff out of the way before they can settle in. So nothing that the visitor has to throw off the bed before sleeping. Nothing on surfaces that stops the visitor putting out their own work or cosmetics or pocket stuff. Nothing that needs to be shoved into a wardrobe before you can go to sleep, because that's where the guest wants to put clothes. Nothing precious that anyone would feel scared of breaking (or tempted to steal). Nothing on windowsills that can catch on curtains or make it difficult to open and close windows. Someone ELSE is moving into the room and making it his or her own personal space, so nothing in the rooms that says, 'This is the owner's personal space.' You can't 'make yourself at home' in a space that is so overwhelmingly someone else's home.
The decor reminds me very much of the 1980s. Puddled curtains in satin, loads of pillows, tapestry upholstery... The 1980s was all about 'luxe' fabrics and deep colors and just 'more is more' decor.
First place those cushions are going is into the closet or in a corner from a hygiene point of view. Anything on the bed should be changed between guests. Having the ceiling the same color as the walls makes the rooms feel claustrophobic to me. If that makes me boring, oh well. Guess Mel and I aren't destined to be friends 🙂
That blue trundle (?) bed at 00:10... I'm only 5 feet 3 inches tall and I'd be looking at that and wondering how I stretch out in it to lie down. I'd have to take the thing off the end of the bed and the cushions off the head of the bed and I'd still be wondering if that was a child's bed or a bed for an average adult woman, or if I'm going to be kicking the shelves at the foot and banging my head against the shelf at the pillow end. Just looking at it, my immediate reaction would be, 'I can't sleep in that. It's too short. I'll have my feet under one shelf and my head under another shelf. That's going to be really uncomfortable. And where do I put all the pillows so I can try to stretch out?' A hotel needs to make a first impression that says, 'I can rest here. I'll sleep well here.' People are TIRED when they are travelling. They want to drop their stuff and settle in quickly and easily, not undo all the decor just to find out if they will be able to sleep in the bed without concussing themselves. I think this lady decorated for a home and possibly family that she doesn't have, which is self-indulgent and not sensible from a business point of view. I know several women who have 'issues' related to 'home' because of the houses they grew up in not being safe. The family wasn't safe; the atmosphere was tense or abusive or dysfunctional. And it comes out in a desire to 'buy a nice house and do it up' or go into hospitality in a 'beautiful house.' They are obsessed with design magazines and websites, fantasizing about the 'perfect home' that they can make with decor, when in reality, what they are trying to do is give themselves the loving, warm, safe haven-home they were not given by their parents. Sometimes, going into hospitality is not a business decision, but a fantasy based on issues that should be worked out in therapy.
After four minutes I was thinking why would Alex help this nasty manhating snowflake. Then I looked at the comments and I was not the only one with thoughts like that. 🤣🤣🤣
Ex Trolley Dolly with attitude after 20 years doing what she wants when she wants. Alex not hard enough I would expect an inspector to review Health and Safety. When the owner is responsible for Patrons Life and safety (Conclusion) POOR. !.
Its very hard to put effort money thought and feeling into a product and have it belittled. Probably to run a hotel you should just give the decor job to a decorator qho does them as a speciality and just rent out rooms that are standard and practical. For me id rather go to a quirky backpackers with colour texture and unique decor and an owner with a personality. But horses for courses😂
The fringe in the eyes is killing me
It drove me mad. Looks very attention seeking.
It seems like the kind of place that you could rent by the hour with a lovely lady included.... if you know what I mean 😉 😂

totally agree with hotel inspector alex the rooms become smaller with no white ceilings😊😊
Tell me you’re not an interior designer without telling me you’re not an interior designer
16:52, you know they deleted the sound when the owner arranged the banana in a particular way and Alex immediately turned it on its side.
Spoiled brats rarely make great hostesses
she dont like work does she
This owner is so nasty that she deserves to fail. I hope she sued the plastic surgeon who did that to her nose.
I haven't even watched it yet and now all I'm going to do is watch for that nose haha
In England their idea of a hotel would be bed and breakfasts here in America
In England this kind of place is a brothel
Seems to be called Hamilton's now, with a Sri Lankan restaurant downstairs.
wow what a difference the white colour makes to the windsor..well done alex
Tacky from USA NO WAY ID PAY $100 NIGHT
They are not her rooms..they are the paid guests
This is now permanently closed.

I never use cushions unless in my own home. I never know if they are clean after every guest. If they aren't, then that's just gross.
even if the owners enthousiam is over redecoderating can do alot then sell it wish the best
I bet you £1,000,000 she flew for BA.
She seems like she's stuck in the 80s, even her hair is retro.
The hair - it’s not the 60’s and your not 18.
Her comment about psychiatric hospitals sickened me. No empathy.
I wonder what the owner looks like…
Looks like a knocking shop

What's with these women wearing ultra heavy eye line and pale lipstick? Genuine question, is it aUK thing?
16:53 looks like a willy
Common as muck ugh.
