This foundation is one of my very holy grails....for me and my clients. And I use it on all skin types. It is definitely a go to for mothers of the bride. The second try on was definitely the primer. It is a water based foundation so will react like oil and water with any silicone primers, hence the slipping and sliding. Laura Mercier foundation primer is great to use with this, since it is water based. As far as spot concealing, once I have two layers on, I take a tiny bit on my finger and tap it into the red areas or areas that need more coverage and it layers over and conceals great! The very best way I have found to use this is with your fingers and really work it into your skin, building it up and setting with a very thin layer of loose powder....the RCMA loose powder is great! It is a foundation that has stuff with me for years and will forever be a part of my kit. So sad it didn't work out for you.

      @jcjccmz 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

So glad you commented on this! I was going to suggest trying it with fingers again and adding a light layer of powder, to "adjust" for some of the things that she liked but also a few that didn't go perfectly on days 1 and 3. Great idea on a more appropriate primer for day 2.

+Mandy Davis MUA One of your best tips that I had never heard was that you need to use like primers with like foundation bases. So water-based primers with water-based foundations and silicone-primers with non-water based foundations. It has greatly helped the wear and longevity of my makeup. Love your work! Just wish I lived in Nashville! :)

Rubbing this foundation in between the palms of your hands until it reaches the tacky stage first makes a huge difference in application and coverage. Also, mixing in a tiny bit of Cover fx custom cover drops and doing the above technique completely transforms this foundation to a whole new level.

    • @rosemarymirza2269
      @rosemarymirza2269 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Yes, this is exactly how it is best applied - with fingers, not a brush or sponge. Work it with your fingertips until it begins to get tacky, then apply it to your face. Pat it in, don't wipe too much. You will get better coverage. Its lasting power in high heat and humidity is unmatched by other foundations in my experience.

i was gonna say the same about working the foundation with your hands..tho if i let it sit on a surface till it thickens a bit&a stippling brush can ump up the coverage but fingers/hands work the best..this is my HG summer/natural day foundation

  • @diannechristino

My holy grail that took me 53 years to find. Definitley have to rub between your fingers for warms and rub in with fingers. All about technique with this unique formula. Only foundation I've found that doesn't emphasize my texture. Adn you can build it up multiple times without it looking cakey by pressing it in. They just re-released it in new packaging.. give it another shot. :-)

My holy grail foundation. Don't use primer or powder, just rub in with fingers. Wait a few minutes before using powdered blush and eye shadows, bronzers, etc. Makes my skin look perfect, and makes me look younger and just naturally beautiful. LOVE it!!!

I am 47, and this is one of my favorites(I have about 20 different kinds). I put it on with a wet beauty blender and love it because it is so light- I don't feel like I have a mask on. I really liked how it looked on you on try #1. I am just happy if it lasts through an 8 hour day at work, and this one does it for me. :)

I'm 40 and this is my holy grail foundation. I use a light moisturiser and it doesn't seem to matter if I use fingers, sponge or brush- all works well for me. I then use the super light powder over the top (I like MAC mineralise powder) and finally give it a spray of MAC Fix+. It looks exactly the same on me twelve hours later. Love love love...

Thank you! I've been so curious how this would work for you. I'm in that small category of folks who can use this so well. Tinted sunscreen is always on but not foundation. I love that this foundation does not transfer to clothes, especially collars. Wear this when you've got on a white shirt. I do have some spots on my hands and arms that I cover with, so the "body" part is significant. I do blot with a single-ply tissue about five minutes after application to the face, to be sure I'm not too dewy. That makes it possible to skip powder. Keep running these foundation gauntlets!

I recommend a water based primer for Face an Body, not silicon (as a former MAC makeup artist). Also I found mixing with 1 or 2 drops of Cover FX, will give you a very full cover look with the waterproof staying power of Face and Body.

Hi Angie. I wanted to love this foundation but like you, I couldn't get it to work for me at all. I'm 40 years old with combination skin and while I don't need or like a full coverage foundation, I like a foundation to even out my skin. This foundation was WAY too luminous for me. It turned patchy after two hours and I felt like I was constantly powdering to minimize the crazy shine. Totally hated it. No idea why people rave about it but maybe it does work better for those with dry skin tone. You confirmed everything I felt about this foundation! Thanks for another great review!

Some tips-u can get better coverage by warming it in your hands. Wait until you feel the texture change-you'll feel a thickness. Then apply. This texture change is key. Also mixing it with other foundations is awesome-I've mixed with Mac prolongwear concealer, CT Magic foundation and Chanel long wear perfection lumiere. Works great with Mac skinfinish powder and hourglass powders. Of course I'm drier so it's my HG. XO

I'm 30 yrs old with very dry flaky skin and have been using this foundation for over a year. On good skin days I can wear it alone but I really like using it as a mixing medium to get other foundations to be waterproof and long lasting. My favorite is to mix it in with my Dior Airflash foundation. Just be careful what you use with Face and Body. Since it's mostly water, you can't use anything that contains silicone in combination with it. If you don't like the look of powder on top, maybe try one of those mattifying setting sprays to lock it in place.

So, this is my summer foundation. I use no primer. However, if you use the It Bye bye pores pressed powder with the sponge in the compact, it wears beautifully for at least 10 hours. The key is to very lightly press the powder into the skin. You nailed it with your comment if you're older with dry skin and like a sheer coverage this foundation is for you. I'm 58 with normal to dry skin in the summer and prefer a sheer coverage for the summer. Great video. I'm waiting for the MUFE new face and body foundation. Have a great weekend!

As you have said different foundation works differently on different faces. I have been using the Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet for about 3 months. I really value your advise and the time you put into testing each product so I really really wanted the Chanel to work. Everyday I look in the mirror and see that it settled into the pores on my nose and folds around my mouth. Tried powder, primer etc and I just could not make it work for me. I have gone back to the Clinque Beyond Perfecting Foundation and it works for me. I know you have a friend that also likes Clinque more than the Chanel and the difference between the two products is amazing. Deborah

I'm a makeup artist and have this foundation in my kit. My clients are typically over 50 and I find it looks lovely on most. I do use a primer under it, and if someone has a lot of redness I might use It Bye Bye Redness very lightly under it. Also I do powder around the nose and forehead. It is great for someone who does not like a lot of coverage. Some of my younger clients like it also if they don't wear a lot of makeup. Great Video thank you Angie! (Also great on other areas of the body-use it on my hands when I want to smooth out spots and texture makes skin look smoother)

Yay! Finally a foundation review that I can use (I have older, drier, skin than you and love a very sheer foundation). As I'm retired, I don't find that I need a foundation to last for 12 hours on very many occasions and think this sounds great! I always use a primer, and always use a finishing spray (Elf) which I find takes away any powdery look, so can't wait to try this one. I currently use Lancome Renergie Lift and love it, as well as the L'Oreal Lumicushion on days when I'm in a hurry. Good review!

Hi Angie! Thank you for trying out this foundation. I have a very dry skin but also rosacea on my cheeks and both sides of my nose. I don't like full coverage but I definitely need a medium coverage. Thanks to everybody who shared some tips and tricks in the comment section, maybe I will give it a try, I will decide after the review on MUFE water blend. At the moment I'm still using my It cosmetics cc+, applied with fingers + concealer, I like it but even with a very good moisturizer, it stays a little bit too dry for me and doesn't have enough longevity. xoxo

Welcome back, Angie! Have missed your posts. Happy to see your Foundation Friday review because I follow Lisa Eldridge faithfully and she recommends MAC Studio Face & Body as a "fail-safe" foundation. I struggle with "polka-dot" pores, too, so I wear very little make-up. Chanel's Perfection Lumiere is amazing, especially for my 50+ yo skin, and consider it to be my "Holy Grail" foundation, thus far. Fifty is fabulous age; but, can be challenging where make-up is concerned. You make it the whole process seamless and beautiful.
Your eyes look amazing! Would love to see another tutorial -or- know which colors were used from the MAC Nordstrom Now Eyeshadow Palette. Well, thanks a million and best regards.

Hi Angie! I recently bought the vitamin C serum from Timeless with your discount code, and I LOVE it!! I can't believe the huge difference in the texture and brightness of my skin. Thank you so much for the recommendation. I'm addicted now lol. Anyway I have 2 questions for you:
    1) is it safe to use the vitamin C and RetinA at the same time? I'm very afraid of "burning my face off." I'm fairly new to Retin A, although the bad side effects seem to be lessening quite a bit. I noticed in your skincare AM and PM videos, that vitamin C was in the morning and Retin A at night. Just wondering if it would be ok to use both at night.
2). This is weird, but is it safe to put Retin A on elbows? I usually do all my facial skincare on neck, hands, and elbows (I notice so many older women seem to be oblivious to the fact that their elbows really give away their age! Just like the backs of hands do). I'm not sure if this is a good idea though, just wanted your opinion.
    Thanks 4 all you do!

Angie thank you for your videos!! I love that I have you to help me with my skincare/makeup routine as I venture into my 50's!!! Can't believe how much my skin has changed in just a few years. I just hit 51 and I am desperate to keep my skin as youthful as possible. My biggest issue now is powder and settling into fine lines especially around the eye area.😫 any hints?

I want you to review "Angel Lift" too. Regarding today's foundation, I thought there were too many negatives for me to give it a try. I am still sticking with It Cosmetics CC Cream. Thanks for the review and have a great weekend!

aww this was on my list to try next. I'm always looking for a sheer to light foundation that has no fragrance and would be light-weight enough for summer humidity. I guess I can delete this one from my "to try" list lol.

I looooove this foundation now, but at first one really has to experience with it. I agree! I tried putting it on with fingers and it goes into the skin right away so there is nothing left to spread (truly water based). The BEST I found is the sponge for application!! Although the sponge does absorb some of it, but it gives the most wonderful looking finish. It is not velvety, it's SHEER & DEWY. No noticable layers on the skin, no heavy effect, it is one with the skin, I agree as well. I use POREfessionals as primer and it is just beauty-full. One of the best for sure. Dust it off with the slightest amount of powder, add a little SHEER blush from MAC on cheeks and your pores disappear completely. It's amazing! I think what you are looking for doesn't exist. Haha! :D I believe you need a different shade though. This one is a bit too white, maybe try the C1. I have C3 and I need one lighter. ~ Thank you for the good laugh in the middle. I always LOL at least once during the videos. :D xxx

I'd go with a retinol cream or lotion and a night moisturizer over it. Try CeraVe Renewing Cream Serum or Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair topped with Olay Regenerist MicroSculpting Cream. I use the CeraVe + the Olay & love the combo!

Hi, Angie...love this video! The problem is the older we get the less makeup we should use. I will be on Medicare in September and everyone thinks I'm a lot younger. I don't wear makeup until my husband says we're going out! You look great! Thanks! 💞

I am 53 and what I like using it for are my legs. It covers all, looks natural, doesn't come off and during the summer I use 2 or 3 shades darker than my skin. Also I don't need a lot to cover my legs which is surprising.

Used it for arms and legs at my son's wedding on a fairly warm day. End of the night only a non-contact stripe down shins and length of both arms. Fortunately the sunless tanner underneath toned down the zebra effect:)

I think you look nice with this foundation. Actually you are correct the both makeup forever and Mac face and body are geared for aging women whit dry skin that want to wear a light foundation. Makeup forever face and body old formula made my skin look ten years younger!

You are so amazing. I love the detail in your videos. I have hated every foundation that I have used. Nothing has made the old skin look any better yet. But with your research I have faith you will find something fantastic. The way you have described this foundation is the way I have felt about my foundations. Truth be told I have only tried a hand full. The latest and the one I have stuck with only because it has sunscreen is the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind. Its ok but I feel that it does not have enough color choices and it does not cover any of my sun spots. I still want the try the Channel however its a little pricey. Anyway have a great weekend and thank you for your great videos.

I must say I really enjoy the Face and Body by MAC, esp.for evening out the neck and chest area, as I got some bad sun damage there. For more coverage I go over with MAC Matchmaster (my holy grail) or Clinique's Anti-Blemish foundatiion, which is just brilliant. So, in my case Face and Body as a light 'foundation' then for more cover Matchmaster or Clilnique (or even a 'LOreal Perfect Match. Stays put all day (no primer). I am 46, btw.

I'm in my late 20s and I have loved this foundation for years. That being said, I'm dry skinned and rarely deal with major breakouts; I also need the White because I'm that pale, and not a lot of brands provide that option. If you are oily skinned or maybe even combination, and you want more than light coverage, I'd pass on this one.

Hi Angie, You should try the Gerda Spillman bio-fond cream foundation. I just tried it for the first time and I was really impressed with the great coverage as well as how long it lasted. I have never used a foundation that didn't settle in one way or another during the day and this one did not move. I did set it with a bit of translucent powder in the morning, no touch ups needed after that.

Buongiorno Angie,I'm a big fan from Italy of your Foundation Friday saga! Actually I'm a big fan of you and your YT channel! 😍I would like to suggest a foundation to you: I'm quite in line with you about the holy grail foundation and this one is on top for me. Quite difficult to find it here in Italy, but since it is made in the US you should find it very easily. It is called 'super fruits healthy foundation' and the brand is '100% pure'.It is also 100% natural and 100% vegan, for those that prefer this type of foundation.I'm very curious to hear your opinion!Apologies for any language mistake 😉😁. Thank you for all you do for us! 😘😘😘

I have watched carefully all your foundation videos ans can relate to your experiences and opinions a lot as we seem to have similar skin type. Have you ever tried Clarins "Skin Illusion" (Mineral and plant extracts) Teint Lumiere Effet Natural, SPF 10 . Good (!) medium coverage and great on pores. Might be difficult to match this with Sunscreen underneath but absolutely worh a try.
