The E60 M5 is kind of an anomaly... the F10 M5 feels more like a proper successor to the E39- the body lines are somewhat similar, the seats look similar, the engine is a torquey V8 just like in the E39 M5, and it's got a refined feel that was really lacking in the E60 M5 but present in the E39 M5.
@@simonbanks3112 The looks are subjective. The E60 M5 is a much more drivers car than the F10. Out of the box: a better exhaust, better handling and much more raw. Unfortunately it has it's reliability issues.

The auto start stop function is for the engine to turn off at red lights and in traffic. We keep that feature off. To start the car, you put your foot on the brake, and press the start stop button.

Respect for paying your daughter's college. Never understood people buying F10 5er in a manual gearbox though. Everything looks modern besides that manual shifter. A luxury sedan with a manual seems counterintuitive to me personally. If it was an 1M, M2, M4, M3 E46. I could see how and why. But hey, to each his own. Hope you bought the car you like! Cheers

The night vision might seem like a gimmick, but living in rural Florida where deer crossing the roads in the predawn hours is a common occurrence, I can vouch for its having alerted me more than a few times to their presence. Other than that quibble , I thought you did a good job of presenting the car.
Great video Ryan. I had an E60 M5 but have an F10 M5 now. It currently has a BMW warranty but I don't think I'll extended it when it expires. My car is a 2013 and only has 16,000 miles and has been reliable. What are your thoughts about the warranty? These cars seem reliable and may be ok if properly maintained.

E60 M5 maintenance is not for the faint hearted, and owning two could be quite an undertaking. We'll miss it, but somebody has a great opportunity to pick up a nice one now!
this car doesnt have subwoofer system in trunk like ur e39 m5 has....anyway i dont like f series just because u can see that hood line from miles away....i love g series tho....what you didnt talk about in ur video is how much did he pay for it ? car is used and what i would love to know is how much it depreciates in just 1 year....
Bash Gul Odd question. E39 in my opinion looks better and it’s manual. It’s also from a time when the 5 series wasn’t bloated to hell. That being said, i still like the E60, i just think the E39 is superior. And if power is your only consern, the E39 would be your choise as you can supercharge it, to around 550 hp and still be safe. The E60 however, who already has problems with rodbearings and tranny issues, would be a headache.
You made my day I just don’t understand why some guys think blacking out everything and think it looks good. I think it loses all personality, I drive a 2015 comp pkg M5 to me the Crome around the car is perfect, I look at it this way the car is a very fine woman and a fine women needs to be frosted ( diamonds ) when she goes out well the little bit of Crome is the cars diamonds I think you get what I mean. Buy chance you go to cars and coffee in Claremont ? I think it’s the last Sunday of each month .
Exactly, the chrome is tastefully done and adds very nice contrast and detail to the design elements. We haven't done Claremont, but thanks for the heads up!
Gorgeous interior. Exterior is obviously a major improvement on the E60. E39 is probably still my favourite though. Singapore Gray or Azurite Black is the way to go. Just wish BMW had put the gear lever behind the steering wheel (like Mercedes), and that launch control was as easy/intuitive as on the AMGs (Push brake, full throttle, release brake).
The F10 wen't back to the design roots from BMW. No more Chris Bangle design. I can't say that I'd like a shifter mounted on the column though, that would remind me of Buick/Chevy a bit too much. And do people actually use launch control in a car like this?
Each to their own I guess. Personally I'd prefer the shifter mounted on the column, freeing up more space in the centre console. Manual cars obviously need to have the shifter in the centre, whereas automated manuals don't. Putting an automatic gear lever in the centre console feels like a legacy from the manual era. Maybe you're right that people don't use launch control. I still think it should be refined and simplified just because it's a feature that's in there.

I have owned a lot of performance cars. I drove both and bought the E63AMG. I thought the M5 drove like a Chevrolet at normal speed - I liked the suspension height and firmness adjustment range in the E63 and think it is the better daily driver. The problem with both is that as daily drivers in traffic the extra performance feel requires pushing the car and that is simply wasted 99% of the time. I just gave the AMG to my wife because she was going crazy seeing it parked next to her older E class. I'm going Panamera Turbo, or back to a 911.
Auto Mate is correct. Many cars are made late in one year but sold as the next year's model, because they're built to that specification with that technology.
style 601 the competition wheels are nice but heavy! non forged wheels on a comp package car.. what was bmw thinking... the 343 are superior and way lighter then these... and forged!
true but the 343 weighs in @ around 11.7 kg a piece and the 601 in @ 15ish!!!... for me thats a huge difference... plus you pay quite some money for the comp pack + you trade in forged stock wheels for heavy cast boatanchors... just dont get that :D if the 601 was forged , they would have been on my m5 as we speak...

If I were you or your dad I would keep the e60, the value is just going to go up and you won't find one in that condition that easy.

We're glad to hear that it has been reliable so far! My dad's is CPO'd through 2021 and we probably won't extend it past that.

I think subwoofers have been installed under the seats in BMWs for a while now.

It was a strange choice on their part. But a few pounds at a wheels on a car that is already 4400lbs isn't going to make any measurable difference.
